Re: Rayman Mini
Well waiting for the gameplay wasn't lengthy. I would not be so pessimistic about this title. Probably we will not get another main Rayman game in the future years whatsoever. Series has something to do with itself and that's better than being in shadow for another 3-4 years. I think that the environment looks very cool. The gameplay is taken from the previous titles but I would not expect something innovative from the phone game included with the subscription. I wonder if filing the trademark in February was connected to this project or was it only a coincidence.

Re: Rayman Mini
Yeah I heard people with iOS 13 were allowed to beta test Apple Arcade, but I wasn't sure if they'd get to play this game early too.

Re: Rayman Mini
iOS beta testers got it early, so there are a few videos of it online

What's up with all the information about the game? Was it leaked already?

I would recommend using the PC version and 3DS version's textures as a base, the DC version's textures are somewhat lower quality and pixelated than the PC and 3DS versions and a lot of the PS2 version's textures were down-scaled to use less resources because of the PS2 version's higher poly models. There are also a few higher quality R2 textures in Rayman Arena PC version and in Rayman 3 HD.
The PC textures are the ones I used as a basis, there was already a complete dump of them available online. I also dumped a considerable handful of the DC textures to compare them beforehand however, ensuring which versions were the best quality. I didn't notice a difference in quality between DC and PC textures. So I just ended up going with the PC textures due to the convenience of already being dumped and organized. The DC version has a ton of textures that aren't a part of either the N64 or PC ports anyways, plus I didn't have to tolerate Reicast's texture duplication glitch.

For 99% of the textures, the 3DS port is definitely not higher quality than the DC/PC versions. Quite the opposite in fact, 3D's textures are almost universally lower quality, and by a very noticeable degree. The only exception to this were a couple of the character textures used for Rayman and Globox (which also appear to use different and higher poly models than the original game). I did actually use Rayman's eye textures from the 3DS port. I also found one waterfall texture that I felt looked better and more colorful than the original game's. But all of the other basic environmental textures are noticeably worse quality when you compared them side by side to the DC and PC textures. Especially any textures that have transparency. I noticed this when I was mulling over retexturing the 3DS version and started testing out and analyzing the first couple of levels (I decided against this due to the large amount of downgrades to lighting and other visual effects and the plentiful amount of glitches). I assume the texture quality was reduced to conserve cartridge space. The 3DS port is 256MB in size, while the DC version even when compressed into a CHD file is over 650MB (it's over 1GB uncompressed).

I hadn't considered checking Rayman 3 HD. I have a dump of it made for use with Dolphin's texture loading and i'm looking through it right now. There doesn't appear to be too many shared textures from Rayman 2 besides some of the characters. The few similar character assets i've found so far don't generally look very good either. It looks like Ubisoft just took the original DC textures and just resized and filtered them instead of giving them proper higher quality sources like they did with the rest of the Rayman 3 exclusive textures.

I also didn't think to check Arena and I don't have any of its textures to compare. If anyone has a dump of them, i'll take a look and see if there's anything worth using. I don't know how to dump PS2 textures and don't have any of Revolution's either (just eyeballing them ingame, they seem comparable to the DC and PC textures, they don't look massively worse but they're certainly not higher quality).

Either one should be fine, as far as I know they're both going on the same server, it just depends on how the image is categorised as to where it shows up. I'm not sure if there's a personal images category on the Spanish RayWiki, I'm not good with Spanish, I only know simple things like what hola means.

Well, technically you can only upload images to the English wiki, since we use it as a shared repository. This way, we only have to upload a file once, and it's available for use across all versions of RayWiki. If you try to make an upload on the Spanish wiki, you'll be redirected to the English version.

As for contributing, no previous knowledge of wikis is needed. If you feel like creating new pages or editing existing articles, don't hesitate and we'll be there to fix any mistakes.
Ok, thanks for the clarification, I will give the wiki a try if I can :).

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Hi there, maybe I can give some insight on your problems.

1.) The Hoodblaster on the floor in CF3: Yeah, that one likes to screw things up. Most likely, you are standing too close to the edge, which makes it so it's out of Rayman's field of vision. You have to take a few steps back in order to get the crosshare.

2.) The Snapshot-Trick: First of all, before you can use the Snapshot-Trick, you'll have to use the Look Mode once. (Note: if you pause the game - i.e. press ESC on the PC version - it will reset, meaning even if you entered Look Mode, the Snapshot-Trick won't work anymore. After pressing ESC, you will have to use the Look Mode once more before you can use the trick again.) After that, whenever you use the Snapshot option, you will get the ability to buffer Look Mode. Basically, you just hold the Look Mode button while you are in Snapshot Mode, and once you leave the Snapshot Mode (while still pressing the Look Mode button) you will immediately be in Look Mode. That's about as good an explanation as I can give, hope that helps clear things up.

And yes, some Matuvus (like the one in DOTK2 you've mentioned) are STILL hard to get even with that trick. As for myself, I usually need several tries to succeed in that Matuvu-Combo, because the in-game camera is your worst enemy in this game and you can't really see anything in that position. After getting the hang of the Snapshot-Trick, it's all about practice. So hang in there!

Edit: Also, what Steo said. Leave that RNG-based piece of shit named Bog of Murk for when you've gotten good scores in all the other levels.

I haven’t watched this series yet, but I plan to watch it eventually to see what Rayman was like on a TV show.
Afterwards, you'll get in the cah and drive very fah.

Ubisoft have released an announcement trailer for Rayman Mini.

Rayman mini will have a similar gameplay style to the previous UbiArt mobile games, and it will feature 48 levels, including boss fights. Rayman, Globox and Barbara will be playable characters with unlockable outfits. Teensies will not be playable, and the antagonist seems to be the Flaming Teensy, who is seen shrinking Rayman near the beginning of the announcement trailer.

Rayman Mini is scheduled for release on September 23rd, 2019.

Today marks the sixteenth birthday of Pirate-Community. It is an impressive figure for what started as a small fan community, and this was only made possible thanks to the loyalty of its members and the dedication of its staff during all these years.

Yet there are many more birthdays to come! Despite the complete lack of Rayman news, the community is still strong, and while it may not see as much activity as it used to, it's still the one and only place for Rayman fans to go. In fact, with only 39,217 messages posted during the last twelve months, this is the quiestest year in the history of the forum, which now totals 1,319,591 posts.

RayWiki, however, has made good progress, with a Russian version being created, the first language addition since 2015. With 5,304 articles in 8 languages, it is the world reference when it comes to Rayman, and while this figure gives us an increase of 138 articles from last year, the real figure is actually between 300 and 400 due to an error, now fixed, in the way statistics were previously calculated.

Meanwhile, RayTunes still sees a lot of visits from music enthusiasts all around the world, and is so complete that it is now difficult to think of new additions to it!

Overall, things have been calm, but the community is still here, ready to boom shall Ubisoft decide one day to revive the Rayman series. In the meantime, we will keep working hard on the websites you love, and make sure that their incredible content is always there for you.

Long live Rayman, long live Pirate-Community!

Info has recently come to light about a cancelled game, derived from a trailer which was intended for release back in 2000. There's a possibility that it may have been the original concept of Rayman 2000, although that's currently unconfirmed.

Rayman is now confirmed as a primary spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While he isn't exactly a fighter like we wanted, his inclusion in the game is a step in the right direction. There's always a possibility that he could one day be added as a fighter via DLC.

It seems that Rayman will be with us in "spirit" in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

According to a recent data leak, he could be one of 1,297 spirits which will be included in the game. While this has yet to be confirmed by an official source, you can find more info including a screenshot of the spirit here.

Hi guys!

Tonight we've successfully upgraded all of the software used by the forum and wiki as well as moved to a brand new server, with a much more recent configuration! This took a bit of time and lot of work but it seems to have gone smoothly.

While the new version of the forum was well tested and should work just fine, we're pretty much discovering the new version of the wiki at the same time as you and we're well aware of the few cosmetic issues that have appeared following the update. They shouldn't prevent its use and we'll be sure to fix them in the next few days!

Please note that from now on, there will be no need to log in to the forum and wiki separately, as our new single sign-on system will automatically log you in to the wiki if you're authenticated on the forum. We've also extended SSL usage to all of our subdomains, and that's probably about it for noticeable feature changes! While there are major differences under the hood between this version and the previous one, the goal is that it shouldn't be too different from the one you're used to. ;)

Of course, if you notice anything strange please let me know and I'll get to it ASAP.

Today is the fifteenth birthday of Pirate-Community. For over a decade and a half now, we have strived to make this place the best we can for Rayman fans, and while there's always room for improvement, we have a lot to be proud of!

While the past year may have been the emptiest so far in terms of Rayman news, there's still a lot to say about the old games in the series, and in fact the forum saw a significant increase in activity at the beginning of this year. Over the last twelve months, 66,538 messages were posted, leading us to a grand total of 1,280,374. That's 7,834 more than the previous year, and while it's still less than we did eleven years ago in 2006/2007, this was without a record day (taking place this Saturday) and with a relatively recent activity bump, so we have many reasons to be optimistic about next year.

RayWiki, indisputably the number one source of Rayman knowledge, now features 5,166 articles in seven languages, an increase of 382 since last year. That's more than one content article a day, and I'd like to thank our contributors for this amazing work.

RayTunes is still the music behemoth we all love, with over 20 GB of high-quality music that our members now enjoy listening to directly on the forum.

And while no major features have been released lately, we're still working hard on software updates and upcoming improvements.

Thank you for your continued support, long live Rayman, long live Pirate-Community!
