Re: Politics - your views
Social progress has completely ended natural selection for humans, though. Now it's more like the movie Idiocracy where the dumb reproduce more than smart people, and the average IQ has been decreasing since the end of the Victoria era. I wasn't talking in evolutionary terms there, just drawing com...

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?
I haven't been a regular gamer for a long while but I did complete games at 100% more often than not, and it led to a lot of disappointment because I didn't feel my efforts were adequately rewarded. Jak & Daxter is the best example...

Re: Politics - your views
I believe capitalism is a system of selfishness and greed on every level. And I'm not trying to say capitalists are just evil people, I think it's built into the system. Because capitalist economics are so competitive and brutal, you have to engage in capitalist practices to stay afloat or face bei...

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Some pretty scary precedents have already been set in several other areas. Policing powers, track-and-trace, the removal non-covid related healthcare, to name a few.
When I wrote my comment I just meant that I'm not that bothered about being vaccinated, though.

Re: Science - current topic: Autonomous vehicles
Yeah, I'm totally on board with the improved safety they'll offer, and the considerable reduction in traffic and emissions when they're coordinated with traffic control systems. So yeah, I'd be happy to be in a self-driving vehicle. I'm just saying I'd rather drive the thing myself as it keeps me fo...

Re: Things that boil your blood!
My latest bugbear is people who road rage. It's always been a thing but it seems to have gotten worse during the pandemic even in the lockdowns when there's barely anyone on the roads, people still want to make hand gestures out the window or have a braking/stop-start/shouting match. Even just obser...

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Personally, I'd rather let the keen majority get vaccinated and then herd immunity can do its thing. Most of us here are more likely to die from something else than covid in the next twelve months anyway. That said, if vaccinations somehow became mandatory I wouldn't be too bothered...

Re: Vegetarianism and veganism, an urban trend?
I of course agree that appeal to nature is a logical fallacy and only mentioned the natural order of things in the context of my sole opinion, and I didn't mean to pass this as a logical argument of any sort. Don't worry, I knew you'd be aware of it! But a lot of people do justify this behaviour by...

Driving is fun and I think it's a good focus for the mind. When I want to get drunk, read, do admin or anything else, I just use public transport! Really, do people just want everything done for them?

Re: Vegetarianism and veganism, an urban trend?
I also think the moral aspect is justified. Saying "it's just natural for us" is appeal to nature and it's a very popular argument. We actually have instincts which are rather bad. Jealousy and here and there wishes to lie or some even wish to kill under certain cases. No one tries to say...

I remember people used to write actions like *gets the banhammer* or *locks topic*. That all seems so weird and cringey now.

Re: Misheard Or Generally Stupid Sayings!
'You can't have your cake and eat it' is quite a good one because people don't understand it. As in, you can hold a nice cake and look at it, but you can't also eat it! It was switched around during the Brexit campaign to 'we CAN have our cake and eat it' and people bought it.

+ Changed my rank to Reflux because I was stuck on Andre for some reason. - I've been in quite a solemn mood today generally. The usual remedies have all failed. - Might be out of work in a few months due to the pandemic. - I think I have some kind of gum infection and worried about the availability...

To be honest with you, I don't really have an issue with taxes funding GRS, as it's clearly a benefit that cannot knowingly be exploited by the individual. Like Hunch, I feel incredibly sorry for people gender dysphoria, but whether or not surgery would actually help them to function in society - in...
