Re: Movies you just recently watched

If you like Howl's Moving Castle, I'd highly recommend reading the book, or anything else by Diana Wynne Jones – she was an incredible writer of children's fantasy, and easily the equal of Roald Dahl or Neil Gaiman (who wrote a great piece about her here).

It is a bit Binding of Isaac, all things considered.

I know it was twenty years ago, but Jesus Christ, how did a golliwog remain in the game until the preview stage?

Re: Rayman (kinda) confirmed for Smash Bros. - Potential DLC

What sort of Rayman content can we expect if the leak is genuine? I haven't played the Smash games much. I assume there will be one stage based on a Rayman location, and maybe two or three pieces of Rayman music to choose from? Somehow I doubt we're going to get a Band Land or Hall or Doors stage. I...

Re: Movies you just recently watched

The conspiracy-theorist part of me thinks the whole hack thing was a publicity stunt - the saner part of me promptly says "shut the fuck up you're embarassing me" because Sony just stands to lose too much from the various lawsuits that can now arise. I don't know how much you've read up on the leak...

Re: Star Wars

The star wars games, and comic aren't very kid freindly, Just take the Boba Fett comics. And i don't think the original star wars are for kids, why : Skywalker's family, burned alive by the empire. Ewoks, all killded by the shock troopers. Darth vader, destroying an entire planet. Han solo, eviscer...

Disney is probably gonna butcher it and make it too kid friendly.
Star Wars is for children. The Empire Strikes Back is rated PG, and that's the way it should be.

I think that anyone who genuinely disagrees with the broad strokes of her case is probably a deluded misogynistic prick. Yeah, and everyone who thinks what Hitler did was wrong is nothing but a filthy Jew. Why's it always whenever someone criticizes an important figure, their supporters automatical...

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums

there are much better people to lead on as a gaming feminist icon I expect quite a few movements are led by people who aren't optimal, but so what? She just happens to be the most visible proponent of feminism in video games at the moment. It leaves the movement open to personal attacks, sure, but ...

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums

This thread inspired me to check out some of Anita Sarkeesian's videos for the first time to see what all the fuss was about. From what I've seen, all of the observations she makes about the systemically imbalanced portrayal of women in games are essentially and objectively correct. The way in which...

Rewatching it, it's clear that he's teleported directly from the cave to the island. The obesity is imposed instantly, just like the treasure and the isolation.

No, just direct comparisons between people who happen to disagree with you and a fascist regime that murdered millions of innocent people. But no swears, that's the important thing.

Gluttony is also evident in the alternate ending, with Rayman growing obese. Maybe that's what really happened, and everything since Rayman left the cave has been a dream.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures

It reminds me of the walking shell levels. If I had to guess I'd say it's a promotional piece that was created for a poster that would convey some of Rayman 2's design ideas and general feel in an abstract way. Maybe it was never actually used.

Has anyone ever suggested similarities between Rayman 1 and the works of Hieronymus Bosch? I was looking at The Garden of Earthly Delights just a moment ago, and it struck me that the vast landscapes packed with strange anthropomorphic creatures, colourful and improbable architecture, weird devices ...

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures

On top of the artwork itself, we recently found some text that could further support the Rayman x Ly thing - which I'm quite a fan of - which was supposed to have been dialogue text but isn't present in the final version of the game. Funny how they left it in though. Wait, what was the text? I must...

Re: Rayman 1

The "storm filter" always bugged me a little bit in areas where there was clearly a lot of blue sky, but it is a nice effect, and exrtra layer of clouds for them I think would've added a lot. I'm actually curious as to why they didn't make more use of filters in general, they could have done wonder...
