Re: Rayman 1

I take back most of what I've said about the backgrounds. Some of the changes were "nonsensical", but that doesn't mean they were bad necessarily, they created a different atmosphere. Though I'd say for the most part, I preferred the originals. One thing I found very interesting was how in the Satu...

Re: [Book] The History of Rayman, Pix'n Love Editions.

It was created before a Rayman game, by Michel Ancel alone when he was still in high school. Well, yes. "X is straight out of Y" is just a figure of speech, what I meant was that the scene seemed a lot like something you'd encounter in a Rayman game. It particularly reminded me of the Musician in t...

That wizard band playing on the mountain peak is straight out of a Rayman game.

Re: Rayman 1

This is how Rayman 1 would really have looked in 3D, more so than Guillaume Bonamy's accurate but literal recreations. I particularly like how it's not just Anguish Lagoon – you can see elements of many other parts of the game if you look closely, like the pink plants and the curving hilltops. Maybe...

Re: Rayman 2

Spiraldoor must have felt a shiver down his spine when that was posted… The worst part is that it's ultimately my fault. No one knew or cared about those two "valley" lines in Rayman Advance until I started posting about them here in August 2008. Somehow the name caught on and now every Rayman fan ...

Re: Rayman 1

For note, I'll never pick the Saturn version, because some of the background changes were nonsensical, and almost all the sound effects are stupidly pitched-up to the point where they sound like Atari 2600 samples, which honestly kills it for me. Some of the background changes were great though. Ex...

Re: Rayman 2

Anyway, while Rayman 1 is my favourite of the games (it was very hard for me to pick it over Rayman 2, but I can't deny my inner feelings), Rayman 2 is by far the most cohesive Rayman game to be released, and likely with the best direction behind it. I've never played a game that felt anything like...

I'd be delighted to read about your thoughts spiral, but, you know... Which episodes were you talking about? Then I can know when it's safe for myself to read your post. The only episode I discussed is the fourth one. [ LISTEN! ] I don't really give anything away apart from how I feel about it thou...

Re: Doctor Who

I've read through the leaked scripts and I'm going to say some stuff. No details but hiding anyway because I know some of you go mental over spoilers. [ The fourth episode is easily the best thing Steven Moffat has ever written. It's self-contained, intimate, dense with powerful images and ideas, ge...

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums

I hope that you're actually trying to make a point, even if it's as obvious and patronising as daylight, and you're not performing another one of those social experiments that have run their course far past any analogy I have ever made. I'm not even trying to prove a point or state a fact, I'm spea...

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums

Death is the one actual fear I have. I'm not really afraid of the physical unknown, I'm rather drawn to it actually. I It's not even death itself that scares me, just inevitable death. I can accept accidents or murder, but the mere fact that it'll happen anyway, no matter what you do is terrifying....

Soon her eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a very small cake, on which the words "EAT ME" were beautifully marked in currants. "Well, I'll eat it," said Alice, "and if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow s...
