Pff I'm already wondering what that possible "consolation prize" might be! 8'D No but really, having low expectations keeps me incredibly calm in competitions. Win or not win, no disappointment either way :P

Believe me you're not the only one. XD Gaaaah it will be very tough to get the places!
You two aren't alone. :oops2:

I only don't draw more entries because I haven't any good ideas and the contest is almost over.

I will take the risk with just 1.
Quality over quantity, ladies, quality over quantity.

Mine is done and sent.

Hunch,
I have an urgent question!

My entry, though still not complete, is already 70MB large - this is far too large for any e-mail provider to send through; I have heard from a friend that Gmail will only accommodate for 25MB, while the Hotmail I use will only do 20. It isn't too far from completion, but when it's done it will of course be even larger. And that's still just in the Photoshop format. I don't know what will happen when it goes into whatever format is the best for losing the least quality, but I can only imagine the filesize will go up.

How should I submit my entry? Should I host it on a file hosting site with a secure password and then mail the link to the download plus the password along? Should I find an alternate e-mail provider that does deal with large files? Should I buy a small USB, plant the entry on there and physically mail it to you somehow?

Thanks!

How the heck it has got such size? Is it a drawing of high-resolution?

Send it in JPEG file with a good resolution, but in order that does not take so much space.

How on Earth could your entry weigh more than 70 MB? That's probably just the PSD file, as even an image of huge dimensions should only be about a couple megabytes large once saved under a bitmapped format, whether it's a PNG or a high-quality JPEG.

Thank heavens for that then. I will see what happens once I export it to a good filetype - though I still don't know which one. I read JPEG? But I've had really bad experience with JPEG files - they make my drawings all blurry and stainy, if you know what I mean - though I've never tried a JPEG export in Photoshop. Like I said, let's hope that it won't be that huge once it's exported...

The JPEG compression method can be set up to use various divisors in the quantisation phase, which is materialised by a higher or lower quality factor (or compression rate) when exporting the file with advanced image editors. The reason your JPEG files appeared blurry with simple image editors is because they automatically use a significantly low quality factor, which results in an advantageous file size but also in noticeable image alteration.

If I'm not correct the contest ends in about 8-9 hours or so? Can you keep it open for a few more? Not for long, maybe like 2-3 hours extra.

Regarding the JPEG conversation, I always when exporting an image - unless transparent - use Photoshop's JPG export. It let's you set the quality/size ratio, and it's done very well. Even at a quality of 5-6/12 looks great.

Right, as a precaution I'd like to ask what you think is the best method of exporting my picture. I'm asking now, because, when I need to know and my picture is finished, it will probably be late at night and you will probably not be online. So, do you think JPEG should be used, or PNG? If any, please tell me exactly what settings I should use - I'd hate to lose the quality in my picture simply because I didn't understand (any of) the options.

That depends on many factors. PNG is lossless but needlessly heavy for most cases, so you might want to stick to a good-quality JPEG (see RayFan's message above). As concerns the deadline, you guys still have 29 hours and 20 minutes left... but not one second more. ;)

I'd like to inform that I finally managed to send two entries via e-mail.
So we can send the pictures tomorrow but before 12:00 (UK time), right? We have time 'till midday?
I'm asking because I really want to upload something more...
