Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
It is from the Rayman Raving Rabbids Activity Centre game:
I found out that the PNG file was already on the wiki (my bad). I need to improve my searching skills .

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Well, if it's not fan art, then it's the actual artwork that was somehow extracted from the print studio?

Well, in the page of the image, it is mentioned that it came from the game files.Hunchman801 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 10:24 pm Well, if it's not fan art, then it's the actual artwork that was somehow extracted from the print studio?

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
My bad, I didn't realize we had a high-quality version too, I thought you were referring to the one in your previous post.
Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
I think I have that. It's labelled as Rayman 3: Hoodlums' Havoc Special Edition, and is sponsored by the now defunct website freelancer.com. Nowhere on the sleeve does it mention it being a demo, but there's two telltale signs - the required disc space is only 110MB instead of 650MB, and it's a CD-Rom instead of a DVD-Rom, so I'm pretty sure this is what you was talking about.dingodile555 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2011 1:24 pmMy dad works for the Sun and got me a Rayman 3 demo at the time, I don't have it anymore but I don't recall there being anything different in it so it's not a great loss. It's not like the Crash Twinsanity demo I have which has tons of things not seen in the retail version and even a different title.StaceyW wrote:Let me guess, it was from the Sun since that was the only newspaper I know that gave a disc away for free in each copy.
It was part of a longer promotion in 2004 in which other games were also given away - and some of them ARE the full versions.
Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project
Racing Simulation Three
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Special Edition, 800MB, so appears to be a full version and not a demo)
XIII (Special Edition, 120MB instead of 1.2GB, so another demo)
Downtown Run
Splinter Cell (Special Edition, 950MB instead of 1.5GB, so not the full game, but not a demo either as it seems to contain more than half the content!)
Myst: Masterpiece Edition
CSI: Dark Motives Limited Edition (350MB instead of 650MB)
Calcio Championship
Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear (sleeve says 110MB required, pcgamingwiki says 200MB. Not labelled as Special or Limited Edition, so if it's not the full game it's mislabelled)
Worms 2
Apart from LOTR (which was made by Sierra), those are all Ubisoft games.
And there was two more discs in this set with what appears to be 12 games each on them (from a company called IncaGold), one with The Sun containing Autobahn Racing, Beach Soccer, Air Offensive, Grand Prix Evolution, Beach Volleyball, Karate, RC Helicopter, Model Railroad Simulator, Scooter Challenge, Speed Thief, Toyland Racer, and Paintball Heroes, and one with now-defunct Sunday paper the News of the World, which contained Tactical Manager 3, Five-A-Side Football, Supercross Kings, Tennis Antics, 360 Beach Bodyboarding, Spin Off, Midnight Racing, WAR Soldier, Rat Attack, Megacity Challenge, Pearl Harbor: Shadows Over Oahu, and Build City.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
I don't how rare these are, but these are some gifs from the old Rayman 2 website. The one with the Gorilla Pirate hiding, it's interesting to me because it has nothing to do with how he behaves in the game.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Did you find them in the Rayman-Fanpage? I don't know anything about this game, so I can't tell how much this images differ from the final version.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
I could be of some help here, having played GBC Rayman so much as a kid.
I don't recall seeing that enemy on the right anywhere in Airy Tunes, but I could be wrong since it's not really a world I spend too much time in.
Dark Legacy is WAY darker in-game, this is the first time I've ever seen the background clearly. The ground Rayman's standing on is purple in-game, not green.
Arcane Forest is too pinkish here, in-game it's more dark green in the background and more brown in the walls.
Rocky Peaks' sky is supposed to be this weird purple pink instead of that dark blue. I think the rocks are more of a dull red but maybe I'm misremembering that. Rayman's flying sprite looks off here, in-game he always hovers with his eyes closed.
Pretty sure that mask enemy and mosquito enemy in Spellbound Forest don't exist in the final.
Now I wanna play the GBC Rayman again just to check all of this.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
Thanks for the in-depth description of the differences between this and the final game, ChronicTraitor! When it's all confirmed, we should definitely create an "early production" section in the wiki article to document this information. I'll ask boombo if he can chime in too, he knows the game pretty well, I believe.
Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
There is some unknown objects:
an early logo, that looks similar the text "vote for Rayman" on the game over screen, but the colors are different.
and, how was showed Rayman 1 at E3 1995

Thanks for ChronicTraitor for the details, and thanks to Marx-Y for sharing the images. It seems that the giant violin image came from this tumblr post, this account also provides more information about the "Rayman Pitch Bible" that is briefly mentioned in this english article.

According to this article, L'Histoire de Rayman contains excerpts from the game design bible.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
No prob, Elite! Picking out small details like that is the least I could do for my favorite Rayman game.
Also it's been awhile since I posted here, but I completely forgot how to quote reply someone. The little box thing in the post...It'd help clear up my replies a little if I knew how.

It's the icon that looks like a giant quotation mark. On mobile it looks like this (only you'll see it in English and without moderation options ):
Sig with Dora made by R4Y_ANC3L; others made by me
Android: How to block an image you don't like
It's good to learn from the past: read the Pirate-Community Documentary!
Other things you should know about this site
Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
There is more Rayman 1 GBC screenshots:
in this part of spellbound forest, the background looks different and the position of that cage is different. in Fiery Depths that spiky platform is different, and again the backgrounds it's different. different scan, the background looks like the final, possibly the backgrounds from the previous two images were edited by the magazine: in dark legacy, the colors of the spikes are darker than the final. There is some Rayman 2 forever screenshots.
the lives, cages and lums display it's different, don't show the Rayman's health, the lives icon it's don't display and the lives count has three digits. also the lums part show the tings.

Not the game I know the best, but I think ChronicTraitor said everything.Hunchman801 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 3:17 pm I'll ask boombo if he can chime in too, he knows the game pretty well, I believe.
The Airy Tunes enemy in front of Rayman, that mosquito/flying ring thing and the "mask man" are definitely not in the final game, and many colors are different or brighter. Maybe because these screenshots were meant for presentation of the game in press?
Anyway, I agree with Hunch. Judging by Marx-Y images, if platforms, colors and backgrounds have been changed and enemies have been removed, we have here some materials for an early production section on RayWiki.

Re: Rare Rayman Pictures
some early Rayman 1 screenshots:
The most notable detail of those screenshots is the Rayman's sprites, looks different but the design is similar to the final. The size and hair looks similar to earlier designs.
the first image, is Rayman in Eat at Joe's level. however the background is different, looks similar one of The Dream Forest background but maybe isn't the same. the text "Eat at Joe's" is different and the palm tree top is green but the final is brown. off course Bzzit can see here, this pose also appear on other early screenshots and the back cover and manual from the Japanese version.
there is Rayman with the Musician, The Musician position is different and his family can't see. the bird on the top of the house looks different, and that tree and those stone don't present there in the final. I don't know what is that shiny thing on the sky.
This is maybe a sheet of different sprites. here can see the magician with something on his hat, the small little Livingstone riding a spider, and some early electoons that also can see on earlier screenshots. also here can see the unknown enemies from other screenshots (including screenshots from the SNES prototype) and a piranha plant enemy with a small version. The most notable detail of those screenshots is the Rayman's sprites, looks different but the design is similar to the final. The size and hair looks similar to earlier designs.
