Oh goody, just what we need. More Rayman 2 ports.

We're talking worse case scenario here, which is if Ubi chooses the lazy route. Naturally, we'd rather have something a little better than that.

Re: Some great stuff for the 20th anniversary (?)
I wouldn't mind another R2 port, but there are definitely many other better options.
I stick to my guns, I'd like an R1 remake and I think it's the most "realistic" situation here for something we'd want, given this era is playing huge tribute to PS1 and N64. Even if it's Ubiart, I don't mind personally.

Oh man, that'd be great! I see no reason for it not to happen, exclusivity rights aside (which is probably the reason why it wasn't released on at least GC as well).Eshap wrote:If they're going to port R2 again, I'd at least like to see Revolution get ported, for once. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
Re: Some great stuff for the 20th anniversary (?)
Personnally, I see the ports (whether it be R1, R2, or RR) as the middle choice in terms of quality.
If Ubisoft doesn't do anything particular, it will be something not worth a lot of time (dunno, a making of, something like that).
The best situation would be the anouncement of a new game (I mean, a real one, not a Pastagames. They are great, but they simply use UbiArt for smartphones and tablets).
The best of the best would be the anouncement of a new game using a new engine. They still can make one more Rayman game out of UbiArt Framework before it's too late, but considering how RL sold itself around the world, I wouldn't bet on it (Meh, people's tastes these days...many other games for Ubisoft were worse than RL lately, but there was so much hype around them they still managed to sell more than Rayman games).

I'll never get tired of people complaining about Rayman 2 ports.
How DARE they release that game on a new system so that more people can play it, it's a travesty.

I think it's the regularity and general mediocrity of R2 ports that makes them such a 'fan favourite'.

Mediocre is one way to describe Rayman 2 alright. Ubisoft can't rely on porting Rayman 2 forever.

Why would they want to port an old GameBoy Color game? Or do you mean for virtual console or something?Bradandez wrote:Mediocre is one way to describe Rayman 2 alright. Ubisoft can't rely on porting Rayman 2 forever.

No, I'm stating that Ubisoft can't rely on porting Rayman 2 all the time, hence the pun.

Nobody is complaining (except for Brad), we're saying there could be much better things for a 20th anniversary.spiraldoor wrote:I'll never get tired of people complaining about Rayman 2 ports.

Rayman 2 (PS1 version) is available on PSN, no? That's fairly modern since the PSN is usually being updated even to this day.
It's not the best version, mind you, but still. I think the 64 version might be available on Wii Virtual Console.
Oh and of course, the GoG version of Rayman 2 would definitely allow a modern audience to find it, and even the STEAM port (unfortunately was only available to those who pre ordered RO.) Both those versions of the PC port are fairly new.

I actually haven't ever beaten Rayman 2. However, by ripping the game apart every third post, you're not even insulting it at this point, but rather its fans for no other reason than that they hold it in high regard. Constantly bitching about a game that many people here adore under the guise that "you have an opinion" is hypocritical, as you're effectively working to deny others the right to have one as well. Shut the fuck up, really.Bradandez wrote:Oh boo hoo. I said something bad about your favorite game. Boo hoo.

lol, ok, maybe i had a jab or two. Rayman 2 is still okay at best. A bit. On a microscopic scale.
Let's see. Best case scenario for me is that Ubisoft releases UbiArt engine to the public with assets of Origins/Legends. I remember Ancel stating he wanted it to be open-source, but UbiSoft says otherwise. Nah, wait that's stupid.
Re: Some great stuff for the 20th anniversary (?)
Rayman Smash Bros DLC will happen for 20th anniversary for sure.
R1 Remake sadly probably won't.
They will probably release some compilation as well and thats about it.
Although I hope I am wrong about last two.
