I've been a Rayman fan my whole life (22) years.
My mom was a gamer and I was immediately exposed to Rayman from birth.
I enjoyed the bright colours and music etc. and while cartoons were on early in the morning for my big sis before school,
Rayman and Crash were on as soon as she left.

Then over the years we just kept on buying the new titles and staying up all night trying to finish them.
Apparently I even had Rayman as an imaginary friend growing up,
which when she told me I thought was a bit embarrassing but now I'm like "HECK YEAH" Best childhood ever right!?

Now i'm a Music producer and Engineer in Scotland and all throughout my career i've owed it to Rayman and to my mom for bringing me up on such amazing soundtracks. Those games started my love for music and when Rémi was announced to have passed it hit me harder than I could have ever expected.
Thanks Mum, Thanks Rémi. Rest in Peace

Nice story. Also, welcome to Rayman Pirate Community!

Coincidentally, one other reason I wanted to play Rayman 2 was because it looked very similar to Tonic Trouble, which is one of my favorite games, later on I found about the close connection between these two games.
Wow, you knew Tonic Trouble before Rayman? That sounds unusual.
I've never actually played Tonic Trouble. I'd like to, some day…

Thinking of Rayman 1 still reminds me of the day I was 10, we were sitting in school one morning for about 10 minutes. Next of all, the principal came on the intercom and started saying that the burner wouldn't start and the heating was broken. I still remember it, "all students may go home YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" The teacher was very annoyed because she didn't hear the rest of the announcement, and the teacher next door came in to ask if she heard it since her class done the same thing.

Anyway, I remember walking home, telling my friend I'd call over to him later, then going straight up the stairs and playing Eraser Plains. I probably couldn't pass the level at the time as I remember also playing Gran Turismo that day, but yeah, Rayman 1 still reminds me of that day whenever I think of it. Maybe that's also another reason why I like Picture City a lot.

Another thing Rayman 1 reminds me of is that childhood friend. We used to get along great and played Rayman a lot in my house. We grew apart as time went on I guess. Those are some good memories though. :nostalgic:

I may have remembered it wrong, but I definitely played Tonic Trouble and Rayman 2 around the same time. I had so much fun playing Tonic Trouble as a kid, however I don't know if the game still holds up today, hopefully it is still fun to play.

I forgot to mention I also haven't played Tonic Trouble either. I should try it out some day.

The problem is obtaining it. I wonder if there's a good reason it's not on GOG, or if they just forgot about it! :P

Ah yes, I think I should have known that, thanks! I might have a look for it one of these days.

I fixed your link btw. You need to include the "https://" or else it just looks like a relative path. :P

I discovered Rayman with Rayman 2 for the PS1, the first time I saw the main character I fell in love with it, the world, all the characters... Here comes the funny thing of the story, apparently we lost the game or had it rented (I don't remember exactly), and I wanted to play the game again so the best idea my younger self had was getting an empty CD and writing on it "Rayman 2" so that way, putting it on the PS1 it would reproduce the game :fou:, I remember crying because of this not working... how innocent I was :oops2:

I know this is unrelated, but you reminded me of something I done as a kid. I used to love watching a channel named TCC, but I didn't have the channel in my room, so I wrote TCC with crayon on the TV thinking the channel would work. :fou:

I remember that Rayman Origins came out, so I decided to play it, and I loved it. Then I started playing Rayman games for all of the other systems I had.

i played origins in 2013 and had only mild interest in the series for years since But... this august i looked through rayman stuff on spriters resource and i think a bit of raywiki too. i realised globox is actually incredible what the hell was 2013 me(who disliked him for some dumb reason) thinking
so the night after this my brain was like. wtf i should play origins next morning. so i hastily wrote a note in a notepad app on my tablet and proceeded to sleep Badly
but yea i did play it again (as globox of course) and even though this crack was super glitchy and i didnt make it far it was still a blast and that was probably the sharpest turn into a new fandom ive ever experienced

I think he's too likable to hate lol. I used to only play Rayman 1, but then I seen images of Origins when it was only new and always thought "who's that blue character, he looks cool".

I didn't play it for years, and even when I did, I didn't understand why his stances seemed so odd, so I just used Rayman in them. It was after I played Rayman 2 and 3 then understood more about the character that it started to make sense. It's gone to the stage now where I usually choose Globox in the UbiArt games.

Still strange that my first encounter with Rayman was my cousin's PS1 being stolen while Rayman was just left in his house though. It was literally just given to me because he no longer had a console to play it. Probably not the usual way most people became fans of the series.

Playing Origins has helped me renew my interest in Rayman again and one of the reasons I decided to stick around. And I'm really glad I did. Even though I'm going really slow when it comes top laying Rayman games, hope i can someday play all the ones i can get my hands on. :D
