Re: Tonic Trouble
I actually wasn't aware of this thread until I tried to start my own and Stacey directed me here
A fan of Rayman, Rabbids and other Ubisoft franchises alike.
On Saturday, April 9th 2011, I finished Rayman 2! Finally! It took me about a week to finish, but that's mostly because I barely played any during the week, most of it was during weekends. The actual amount of time it took me was probably 6-8 hours total, give or take.

There's the version for the wii?
Re: Tonic Trouble
I just noticed the topic... I hope it's okay if I post my two cents about it...
I downloaded an ISO of this game (for PC, I believe it was the retail version)...
If I understood correctly, the game should auto-save the progress, right? If that's so, in my case, there is no saving... AT ALL...
Could it be because of the fact it was a copy (I tried both burning the disk and mounting the disk image)?
Also, there was the first "mission" (you had to collect 6 things - don't remember what. Springs, maybe?). I succesfully managed to finish the level but once Ed was in the main world (where you choose other levels to go to), I found it impossible to go to the other side (because you had to make the trunk of a tree fall in order to go there but once I finished the level, said trunk was standing and I couldn't make it fall the second time since it was on the other side of the cliff)...
... Could somebody help me, please?

Re: Tonic Trouble
I think I never menaged to finish the game. I also didn't play anymore because of the glitches and bad camera that kept happening during gameplay.

Re: Tonic Trouble
Share your stories about this unfortunately overlooked title!
I always loved Tonic Trouble, but I've only ever met one other person in real life who owns it. I recently met someone online who was very interested in the game, and craziness ensued! We figured out that there is, in addition to the PC and N64 versions (which have the same level design) a second PC version with completely different level layouts and controls! That was a year or so ago- we finally found all the silver spades (beta PC equivalent of thermometers) and we've both raced the game a lot of times. Because of my playing it rather extensively as a child and then it being revived later by this, Tonic Trouble is special to me.

Oh the joys of being a new member; breaking every rule in the book by double posting, not bothering to search for a thread we, the largest Rayman community in the world, would most certainly already have, and of course, not giving yourself a proper introduction. Make yourself at home in the Introductions Topic! Please direct yourself to the Members Forum and its appropriate thread and tell us about yourself.

Bump!
http://www.x-cult.org/games/1642/Tonic_ ... reenshots/
I recently found this site that has some prototype screenshots of tonic trouble, I already knew most of them but 2 pictures made me a bit curious
Do these 2 characters appear in the final game? I never really had the time to end it so I was curious.
EDIT: There are some beta pics in this site
https://web.archive.org/web/19990224193 ... /1967.html
And there's also a Rayman 2 page with pics and vids https://web.archive.org/web/19991014013 ... /5489.html

Re: Tonic Trouble
They don't appear in the final game.
Une nouvelle vague de fraîcheur, Harpic fraîcheur verte !
Re: Tonic Trouble
Having only played the "Special Edition" (glorified beta that hardware publishers gave away with their stuff), I had no idea that Ed was an Agent. I thought he was a janitor or something. Mind you, the opening cutscene would always crash after the bit where the Tonic gets in the water and messes up the world. So for all I know, I may have just missed something.
Also, here's GOG community wishlist link. Who knows, maybe with enough votes they might actually add it to the store.

Re: Tonic Trouble
Ah, nice to see this game has a thread of it's own! Took a little digging to find, though. Anyway, funny story about me and Tonic Trouble; when I went to middle school, my art class had a really cool teacher, and as such, the whole room had paintings all over the walls and some of the doors. Now when I say that, you might think, 'Oh, he hung artwork up?' No, I mean they were literally painted onto the walls and doors. One of these doors, I shit you not, had a painting of Ed on it. Smiling nervously as always while shrugging with a speech bubble saying the artist's name coming from him. What's weird about this is that I only knew about Tonic Trouble because I absolutely scoured the internet looking for Rayman fansites, and happened to find one that had a section on TT. Also, as people in this thread can likely attest, not many people really know about the game. And yet, somehow, I ended up in that school, in that art class where someone had not only known TT existed, but had been fond enough of it to make an honest-to-god painting of it's main character.
Sadly, the school has since undergone renovations that resulted in that room being torn down, so I can't get you any pictures, but trust me, it was accurate to a T as far as the design goes, very reminiscent of some of the Rayman 2 concept art but maybe with slightly more angular lines. Although I think it might've colored his shoes yellow or something? I have a pretty clear mental picture of it in my head, but it's not like I have a photographic memory or anything.
I think it was based off this piece of press art:
Wasn't exactly the same as it though.

Re: Tonic Trouble
I think so, once. They weren't really aware of where the character came from until then, I don't think, so the guy who painted it was probably a quiet sort. I know he at least remembered the guy, though he didn't have many details on him. Either that or I've forgotten them.
Re: Tonic Trouble
I found two interesting translations for the opening cutscene that I had no idea existed:
The game never even came out in Japan, so it's interesting that the cutscene was fully dubbed.

If possible, can someone add this index to the first post (since this is the general thread for Tonic Trouble)?

Re: Tonic Trouble
Thanks for adding the code! Since there is no section dedicated to just Tonic Trouble and the threads related to this game are scattered across different forums and sub-forums, I thought it could be a good idea to make an index .
