Re: Tonic Trouble
Here’s something I’m curious about regarding the voice acting in the PC version of Tonic Trouble; why is it that the vocal performances in Tonic Trouble sound more natural than any of the English performances from the Playstation and Playstation 2 ports of Rayman 2? Even David Gassman sounds better here as Ed than he did as Rayman.

Re: Tonic Trouble
I don't have a good ear for this kind of things, but I'm a big fan of the voice acting in the TT intro (however I might be influenced by nostalgia).

Re: Tonic Trouble
I’m curious, how do the controls for Tonic Trouble feel when compared to the 3D Rayman games. I’ve often heard they’re kind of clunky, is that the case?

Re: Tonic Trouble
I haven't played Tonic Trouble in ages, but Nitro Rad did say in his review that the controls for the gliding move are really clunky and that the ledge grab is a little bit finicky.

This must make speedrunning kinda hard?

Re: Tonic Trouble
Considering that you have to use the gliding move a lot, I assume it must be challenging.
Btw, I didn't know that RibShark was in the speedrun leaderboard.

I think you can find different versions of the game in the Internet Archive.

Re: Tonic Trouble
I'd like to be able to pay for it in appreciation of the devs, but then I guess Ubi themselves don't seem to care anymore.

Re: Tonic Trouble
Just realized that Agent Ed has the same head shape as Ed from Ed Edd n Eddy. Also Tonic Trouble came out in 1999 and was co-produced in Canada, just like Ed Edd n Eddy. Funny coincidence.

Re: Tonic Trouble
Trying out the N64 version. How does saving work? Also is there a way to quit back to the main menu via the pause screen?

I heard about this game thanks to NitroRad and was considering to give it a try.
Worth as a purchase?

Re: Tonic Trouble
I haven't played it myself, but it didn't get great ratings, so I think it might be more of a curiosity than anything else.

Yeah, agreed.
Re: Tonic Trouble
I think it's one of the few Ubisoft games I haven't tried. I really need to play it at some point.
I exist, just finding stuff of interest.

Re: Tonic Trouble
I recently was able to play the N64 version of Tonic Trouble using the sixtyforce emulator and a file from wowroms (other emulators can be downloaded from this site). There were some problems:
- Graphical glitches/errors from time to time (example in the attachments).
- The game slows down if you use fullscreen.
- The music at times was played at a different speed.
- No saving and a watermark in the screen unless you register.
However, despite that I was able to 100% the game. It was nice to revisit this world again, but I still prefer the PC version. When I was a kid I perceived these levels as extensive, specially the Pyramid one, but now some of them look kind of short to me. Also, when I went for the second time to the Glacier Cocktail, a tomato jumped onto the well and blocked the entrance (screencap in the attachments), I wonder is that is something that normally happens since I don't remember it.
The sixtyforce emulator has some options you can play with to fix some of the problems, but they don't always work.

No saving and a watermark? That seems rather unpleasant.Elite Piranha wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 5:16 amI recently was able to play the N64 version of Tonic Trouble using the sixtyforce emulator and a file from wowroms (other emulators can be downloaded from this site). There were some problems:

I was able to finish the game using Project 64 without this last issue, but I never got around to playing the PC version.
I looked this up and it's in a GOG wish list. I don't know if it still gets attention nowadays though.

Re: Tonic Trouble
I guess it's up to Ubisoft themselves, and they probably don't pay attention to anything on GOG…
EDIT: Although, they pay attention to stuff on here, don't they? Hmm…

Re: Tonic Trouble
Hopefully they come across our wishes to be able to buy this game on GOG then!
