I thought this was something interesting to talk about.
Fish are always eating, as far as I know. But do they ever get thirsty?

The Flaming Lips - Do Fish Ever Get Thirsty?
[Intro:] The next song, is a song that, when I found myself in the deepest darkest bottom of my heart I realised, perhaps the darkness is actually the light. Perhaps the quietest person in a big crowd is the nicest guy you'll ever know. In this dark place I was at I opened my mouth and screamed hard as I could and then I felt a rush of love come through my head and I asked myself: do fish ever get thristy?
Do fish ever get thirsty?
Down in their lonely fishbowl that is
The sea
Do fish ever get lonely?
Or find the darkness real homely?
Well if they get thirsty
Wouldn't that be funny and oh so sad?
It surrounds them everywhere
But mother nature keeps them unaware
And when the sea comes real high and drowns us all
Will the fish become real tall and grow some legs?

Re: Do fish ever get thirsty?
when fish breathe water passes straight through the gills and they get oxygen from it, I don't think they get the required fluids needed to survive though through breathing alone as the gills are usually close to the mouth, so yes I think they do need to drink from time to time.

Re: Do fish ever get thirsty?
After looking it up since I posted my honest, uneducated opinion,
turns out Fresh water fish don't need to drink as the inside of their bodies are saltier than the water around them,
on the other hand salt water fish need to keep a balance between the salt content in their body and the surrounding water.
they don't necessarily drink through their mouth but the water rushes in to their gills, does some "bodily magic" and the salt seeps into their bloodstream.

Re: Do fish ever get thirsty?
I think fish can drink whenever they can, the tricky thing is that they don't have the thirst arousal like we do.
Interesting and strange discovery.

Re: Do fish ever get thirsty?
I can remember seeing a meme with the subtitles that said "Do fish get thirsty?"Dart wrote:You thought to make this a topic whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy????????????????
Day after day, I was wondering about the same thing the meme asked about.
I saw the meme on my one of my friend's tablet.
Despite being a meme, it was something complicated to me that I thought was worth discussing about.
