Maybe can we ask Raymanni to create the thread himself so he will able to present his own game?
I'm afraid to get a bad presentation of the game [of course as the game isn't available yet].

He hasn't been active in a while, most likely because he's too busy developing the game. I think it's fine to create the topic for him!

Hi!

I'm asking if I used the right way to open this cage in Rayman Redemption.
I actually use the basket-ball to "bypass" the door, as shown here:

Image Image Image Image

I've observed that when you're on the ball, you can "bypass" every closed area, as a door or a little puzzle bloc.
The basket-ball is available just some steps higher in the map.

So, this is a bug or the right way?

That's a bug I'm afraid. If that's where I think it is (Brain Games level), then let me just say that if you get the gift, you'll get that cage a lot more easily.

I'm not sure. I already found the gift (in the same map btw) and I replay the same level after that.
The door was still closed, maybe you are speaking about a special gift or a key?

If you get the gift and continue through the level, the door should disappear. It won't work if you exit the level after getting the gift.

Actually, you have to solve all the math parts correctly without a single mistake to make the door disappear (not in the entire level, just in this part with the rising liquid).

Oh, Jeuxvideo.com (the most well-known French video game website) just made two articles about ReDesigner: https://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/1295956/ ... -video.htm

They also made an article about Redemption when it released: https://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/1243846/ ... un-fan.htm

While speaking about Rayman Redemption and Jeuxvideo.com ; I've made a article where I explain the cheats codes in-game.
But my article wasn't published because Redemption is a fan-game, not an official game.

EDIT : Article online!
You will need to connect at a jeuxVideo.Com account to see it btw.

This is an amazing fan game that fixes pretty much every problem I had with the first Rayman (ridiculously unfair difficulty, a number of bugs and cut-backs in the PC version, etc.). Hopefully, Ubisoft takes notice (and I don't mean "DMCA!!!" notice) and commissions a new Rayman game with Ryemanni at the helm, now that series creator Michel Ansel left the gaming industry.

There! I've beaten Rayman Redemption by Ryemanni! :D
Or Raymanni, as he called himself on the RPC forum. :)

It took me three weeks to get to the end.
I played in "Classic" mode, and managed to get a 100%, with every cage broken and every collectables... collected. :mryellow:
There are only four achievements I didn’t get (the one which is unlocked when you have the others and the three ones which ask you to finish a level in a certain amount of time), but I’m not an achievement hunter nor a speedrunner. It only prevents me to get the last skin.

I will now share my feedback on this fangame. I will use the same model as the one I did for Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror, since it’s relevant for a new creation of Ryemanni and has a good structure.
viewtopic.php?p=1116602#p1116602

Watch out, there are spoilers (although I tried to limit the big ones)!

Story and characters
+ I expected the story will be more padded out than in the original game, and indeed it was. And to do so, all Ryemanni had to do was adding some textual conversation with Rayman allies, bosses and Mr. Dark.
+ But I didn’t expect more than doing a remake of the original game, Redemption will also mix it with the Game Boy Color version! That’s a very good idea! The head-throwing stone men, the fight against Mr. Dark in Candy Chateau, Dark Legacy... I loved all these details from this nice handheld port!
+ I liked the addition of new people Rayman can help, besides Tarayzan, the Musician and Joe. It balances each world of the game and allow us to meet new characters. My favorite is the clown of Candy Chateau, which is a nice reference to the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids.
+ The Raymanian/Wandayē used by every characters, and not only Betilla like in the original game.
+ Some changes bring some coherence, like the replacement of the killing screen scrolling by an evil cloud in Gongs Heights, all wrong notes can be pacified (not only the ones of Mr. Sax) or the lava control power removed from Mr. Skops attack panel, replaced by an entire level full of lava.
+ Enemy respawn has been removed (except for Dream Forest piranhas, but that’s normal). They only come back if Rayman lose a life.
+ Good changes have been made on the enemies we know : the Hunters bullets (coherence with UbiArt games), the Antitoons who fall of the celling with their gaping mouth, the tall Livingstones who don’t panic when they are hit, the stone men who water the flower on their head, the bomb launching clowns with red clothes...
+ There are new enemies, and they are nice despite the fact we learn to hate a lot of them, like the small red monsters (I think Redemption call them rockstars?) with their flail and the scissors from Picture City.
+ The ways used to distinguish the different types of nenuphars, spiky fruits, clouds, maracas, flying saucers and others, sometimes retaken from the PlayStation, Jaguar and Saturn versions.
+ Bzzit and Moskito treatment. It's impossible to confuse them in Redemption! And during the fight against the Dark Chimera, we can at last see the body parts of Moksito with the right color, and not the same pink as Bzzit!
+ The new attacks for the bosses.
+ Everything concerning the mini-bosses. The interventions of the new Darktoon character, clarify the fact that the tentacle flower/flower tentacle is a mini-boss, the presence of one red monster who acts as a mini-boss...
+ The small wrong notes from the educational games.
+ The rocker of the giant spiky balls without the blank eyes.
+ The (unofficial) mod which allows to give to the Pirates from Picture City their original appearance. The reason why we had this change was stupid.
+ The giant lava rocks and the crumbling platforms in the Caves of Skops from the scrapped elements of the original game.
+ The new hybrids made of body parts of the previous bosses in Candy Chateau.
+ The stained glass windows of Candy Chateau which shine when Rayman hit a hybrid and fall apart at the end of the fight, like in the Saturn version of the original game. Ryemanni used every nice features of every version!
+ The credits, which show more characters than in the original game.
+ / - The intro and end cutscenes have fix images, but I supposed it was difficult to use the videos of the original game in a fangame. The new voice for the Magician is nice. Thanks also to the (unofficial) mod which allows to give him his American voice.
+ / - Pink Helpers are a very good idea to go back to the levels and reach new areas. Too bad in return, Betilla’s role is considerably reduced.
+ / - “Dark Rayman” prevailed on “Bad Rayman”. I’m way too attached to this term from Rayman Designer. :P But I understand why it has been privileged, since we are talking about Rayman’s evil clone created by Mr. Dark.
+ / - The first part of the fight in Candy Castle is against dark magic which imitate body parts of the previous bosses of the game. It isn’t Mr. Dark transforming himself. The scene in the original game has been already interpreted like this, and I don’t like this interpretation since it implies Rayman don’t really fight Mr. Dark himself.
But the fight against the Dark Chimera is still awesome, and I liked its goal: Mr. Dark shows to Rayman what he can do with the powers of the Great Protoon. And when the Dark Chimera is defeated, as he says himself: “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.
We finally fight the wizard himself, and it’s more satisfying than what happen in the original game with the fist tided up on the rope and the fire walls.

Worlds and levels
+ It’s a very good idea to add one or two levels in every world after Dream Forest and Band Land. It balances the game, like new allies for Rayman, and it allows us to explore these environments longer. Especially given that there are pretty good ideas in the new levels, Art Block and Molten Depths ahead.
+ Some levels from the original game have been changed so much you hardly recognize them! :o Even the players who know Rayman 1 by heart will have a lot of good surprises!
+ The improvements for the world map are excellent! We clearly see what we found in each level (cages, medallion, Magician token...) and we can at last move by running!
+ In Anguish Lagoon, Bzzit can shoot energy projectiles, like in the Jaguar version of the original game. I also liked the new levels which features our favorite pink mosquito, which are also a nice reference to Rayman Origins.
+ Playtopia is an excellent addition! The environment full of toys, the toy cars, the Chessmaster and his very original fight, the keys research to open doors, Brain Games entirely based on the educational games... I loved this world!
I don’t know if it’s a big reference to the "Toy World" (unofficial name) of the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, or if it’s supposed to be the same world years before the Rabbids invasion, but it was awesome!
We even have a remix of the GBA music in the soundtrack of this new world! :D
+ We see new rooms of Candy Chateau, before the main room where Rayman fight Mr. Dark.
+ The Breakout Minigame/Ray Breakout is back!
- It would have been better if the Lonely Cliff was accessible only when it’s necessary for the story. It’s very confusing to be able to go there and find nothing to do.

Gameplay
+ EVERYTHING can be personalized. Rayman controls, display, ratio, helicopter, Tings sound...
+ There is no loading time, like in Reign of Terror. The screen with an image illustrating a world only appear when we go in another world, and it disappear immediately if we press any key. But it would be criminal to not listen these captivating drums...
+ Automatic save when we go back on the world map.
+ When you know the original game, the game is easy to pick up and play.
+ You can grab platforms ledges, like in most Rayman games, including the first one. I’ve never understood why this feature has been removed of the previous fangame, Reign of Terror.
+ The new animation when Rayman charge his fist.
+ The grimace is available from the beginning to the end of the game! :D We can stick Rayman’s tongue out at Dark Rayman (I didn’t expect to unlock an achievement for this ) and Mr. Dark himself!
+ The way the life points added by the Powers are indicated.
+ The new icons showing clearly the speed level of the Speed Fist.
+ The Gold Fist really gives gold fists to Rayman!
+ Gendoors are visible, like in the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DSi versions of the original game.
+ Cages revealed by gendoors are less numerous.
+ Cages already broken are clearly identifiable with their golden color (reference to Rayman Legends ! :D) and give bonus Tings!
+ The shiny "Super Tings".
+ Rayman must use many times Tarayzan’s Magic Seed, the super-helicopter and Joe’s firefly. I liked how the Magic Seed adapts to its environment. :)
+ The new powers and skills for Rayman. My favorite is the paint fist given by the Painter in Picture City. And not only for the reference to Rayman Legends, it’s a nice power to use.
Besides, spread paint is better than guacamole. :P
+ / - Having all powers and skills of the original game available at the beginning of the adventure allows a lot of possibilities. But like the Pink Helpers, it also contributes to reduce Betilla’s role.
- An improvement of the flying rings would have been welcomed.
- Obviously, I have problems with rings. I didn’t like the golden rings power given by the Monk in Band Land. It’s too imprecise in my opinion.

Difficulty
+ It's as difficult as the original game, without being as frustrating. Perfect.
+ Difficulty is progressive, which is an improvement since it was unbalanced in Reign of Terror.
+ We can exit a level at any moment, and without lose Tings, collectables and broken cages! It’s very useful, and not only for backtracking!
+ Lives reappear if Rayman dies or exit a level. They are not in a limited number like in the original game.
+ It isn’t necessary to have all the cages broken to reach Candy Castle. It was one of the biggest flaws of the original game.
+ If we don’t have many lives left, it’s better to exit the level and going in previous levels or the Shop to do some restock.
I used this technic in some levels... except Art Block, where I forgot to do so.
It was my only "Continue" for this game.
+ / - The last worlds are as difficult as should be any last worlds in a game.
But there were an exaggeration during some phases in Candy Castle (the big lemonade river in Tasty Reception, the super-helicopter exploration in Choco Chambers, the hybrid of Mr. Stone and Mr. Sax...) and in the Lonely Cliff (the parts invaded by Antitoons, some attacks of the final boss...)

Music
+ There are most of the tunes of the Saturn and PC versions, and some exclusives musics of the PlayStation version.
+ The remixes of tunes from the original game (Redemption, The Magician Tokens), the Jaguar version (Jaguars in the Jungle), the Game Boy Advance version (The Musician's Song, Mountain Spring) and other Rayman games. My favorite remixes are the ones for the "Toy World" theme (Child's Play) and Mr. Dark’s battle theme (Battle for The Great Protoon).
+ The new tunes were a strength of Reign of Terror, it’s also the case in Redemption. My favorite are Darktoon’s battle theme (Darktoon's Mischief) and the sinister theme of the dark zone in the Lair of the Chessmaster (Bottom of the Toybox).

The Magician Challenges, the Shop, Betilla’s Garden, the Casino and Joe's Wares
+ Use Tings as change in the Shop is better than with the Magician. Plus, we can collect a lot of them very quickly without farming.
+ The Shop is more than useful to do lives restock and obtain precious power-ups, like the one which improves the Big Powers.
+ The Shop's power-ups can be deactivated at any moment in the options! It’s a good thing, it would have been a problem in Brain Games and to obtain a specific achievement in Moskito’s Nest.
+ The reference to Morshu of Link: The Faces of Evil in the Shop is unexpected and excellent.
+ Photograph’s checkpoint personalization, with references to Rayman Designer and the educational games.
+ I loved Rayman’s skins, and some of them have nice special animations, like the Laser-Washing Powder costumes and Plum-Man.
+ The medallions of the presents hidden in the levels, which grant access to skins and checkpoints related to a world.
+ The Casino is simple but effective.
+ The cages and items detectors of Joe's Wares are very useful for backtracking. I knew these bonuses from Reign of Terror will be back! Try to economize as soon as the game starts to gain them quickly! And keep accumulate a few more Tings to obtain the Ting Tycoon achievement before buying them!
+ It was a good idea to move the Magician’s bonus levels. When they were in the middle of a level, it created an interruption with them.
+ You still need to deserve these bonus levels, with the tokens hidden in the levels.
+ The bonus levels, or should I say the Magician Challenges, are more varied than in the original game.
+ Each world has the same amount of challenges (time trial, Electoons research, classic level exploration).
+ 3, 2, 1, Action! Two references in one sentence!
+ / - Even if Betilla isn’t as present as before, her role is still important. Once Rayman manages to break a certain number of cages, she can give a new life point to him. Life point which can change a lot of things in Redemption! Her role reminds me the new appearances of Ly in Rayman Revolution. And the reference to Rayman Junior... :D References to the educational games are the best!
+ / - The Magician Challenges allow to win some Tings, but not lives. But it isn’t a big issue since there is the Shop and they reappear in the levels.
+ / - The two boss rushes are a very good idea... but they are so hard!
+ / - The level to explore in the Magician Challenges are pretty hard, but with patience, we can beat them...
- ... except Pinpoint Precision. I’ve rarely seen a level as frustrating as this one! :x

Other comments
+ Once Rayman can use coil spring-shaped Pink Helpers, the first part of the Swamps of Forgetfulness is perfect to farm lives. And you NEED lives to beat some levels.
+ There a cheat codes, easy to find with an Internet research. Reign of Terror didn’t have these if I remember correctly, but even if there were some difficult parts, you could beat this fangame without any code.
Some codes are just for fun (BEATGAME, BWAAAAH!...), while others (99 vies, maximum life points, invincibility...) can save you from the most difficult levels.
I only used the 99 lives once, in Mr. Dark’s Dare (precisely during the famous part inside Candy Chateau...). Maximum life points and invincibility saved me from some parts of the Lonely Cliff, the last Magician Challenges and... Dark Legacy. :confus:
+ I've already mentioned a lot of nice references, but there are many others, to official games (the "Fight the Virus" messages very well hidden, the "NNNNNNNN" cheat code...), to the fandom ("Globox Moment" and "Rayman 4 Smash" cheat codes...). Ryemanni even made some references to his own creations (the Magician Challenge entirely based on Reign of Terror (I loved this level), Noseless Rayman’s head hidden in the Lonely Cliff and the dark zone in the Lair of the Chessmaster...).

I don’t know if Ryemanni still read us, but I congratulate him for Rayman Redemption!
I loved The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror, and I’ve still a lot of good memories about it, I loved even more Redemption!

Redemption is an excellent remake of the first Rayman game, which respect its model while bringing welcomed improvements to it.
The official ports like Rayman on Nintendo DSi and Rayman Classic don’t hold the candle to it! :P

Since I discovered it belatedly, Rayman 1 will never be my favorite opus, but I’m still attached to its graphical style and its vision of the worlds and inhabitants of the Glade of Dreams.
Redemption allows me to admire these again, and to discover the very first adventure of Rayman with a new viewpoint, since it erased a lot of flaws of the story, the gameplay and other points.

And, like Reign of Terror, Redemption is simply an excellent Rayman game, which entertain the player, play pretty good music in his ears and respect its characters and its universe.

I say it sincerely, these two fangames of Ryemanni outclass a lot of official games released during last years. If not all of them.

Could I dare to say Ubisoft themselves didn’t did better than that since...
2006?
2003?
Yes. I could. :)
