How would you Handle a Rayman Remastered Collection

Post by Jhspecks »

In this era of gaming we're seeing more and more Remakes of Classic games and I'm wondering if you were in charge of remaking and bringing the first 3 Rayman games to modern systems how would you do it?

Personally i would love a Rayman 1 built from the ground up using Ubiart with the option of the original pixel graphics and a 16:9 ratio kinda like the mobile ports of Sonic 1&2. Included bonus features would be a Rayman Designer map builder and Difficulty options getting rid of the blatant difficulty spikes.

I'd like to just see Rayman 1 with the same graphics again, but in 16:9 with the camera zoomed out further so you can fit more on screen.

I really wish Ubisoft will jump on the bandwagon before it goes out of style even hire a studio like what Activision are doing with Crash but it feels like they'd rather just rather do basic ports instead ofadding enhancements.

Rayman 3 HD didn't do it justice at all tbh, at the very least, we could do with a better port of it.

Depends which Rayman games we're including:
- Rayman 1: I'd make a "Definitive" edition with widescreen + every enhancement from the PS1/Saturn version, maybe unlockable levels from the Jaguar version, and Rayman Designer integration ala Mario Maker (including Rayman by his Fans and similar level packs)
- Rayman 2: just port the Dreamcast edition, make it look just a tad prettier in HD, 4K, whatever, and have R2 Revolution DLC or something
- Rayman 3: I still think the original looks better than R3 HD, so I'd base it on that
- Rayman Origins and Legends, if they were to be included, I think I'd leave mostly alone
- Unlockable "spin-off" games (Rayman 1&2 GBC, Rayman 3 GBA, RRR GBA...)
- Unlockable concept artwork! I'd love to see more of that.

Pretty much this. I guess Ubisoft could pull a Capcom and also release a Rayman Raving Rabbids compilation.

I'd do it like this:

Firstly: All 3 original games in one disc as a bonus when you beat the remaske/remaster
Secoundly:

Rayman 1 should NOT be in the ledgends and origins style, it just needs sprite updates and thats it (Also make spacemama not unfair)
Rayman 2 should either be: The PC version BUT with rayman 3 style combat
OR A compleate graphical remastering of the Ps2/Ps2/Dreamcast version (if any i would ps1+more content)
And Rayman 3 should just be R3HD, but with crisys style graphics

THats just my take

Rayman 1 couldn't be in the Ubiart style anyway because they're not the same at all.

True, but now you got me thinking about how would a hypotetical UbiArt Engine-powered Rayman 1 remake would look like.

Since I'm not one of those people that hates Ubiart games for absolutely no reason, I kind of can't help but wonder the same thing. :P

For me the collection would include the trilogy, as well as a few spin-off games like Kono said, but kept in their original state.
Rayman 1: would either use the ubi art engine but keep the art style accurate to the original, OR keep the same sprites but with more animations and graphical polish (like Sonic Mania).
Rayman 2: should have a complete graphical overhaul. I think it'd look good with a higher polygon count and beautiful textures and lighting. The music is already perfect. Bring back the voice acting!
Rayman 3: Similar to what I said with 2, but also needs a MUCH better resolution. Played 3 on the gamecube and it didn't look too good sometimes. The CGI cutscenes also have not aged well at all.
SPIN-OFFS: can just be an extra unlockable bonus. They would include:
-Rayman 1 and 2 GBC
-Rayman Raving Rabbids and Hoodlums Revenge GBA
-possibly Rayman Arena and Raving Rabbids 1 (console version)

Also I would want pre-order bonuses that would be based off Rayman's history in some way.
