Re: Rayman Origins
Okay, that makes sence
Re: Rayman Origins
Pushing 40 Bit played Rayman Origins as their game-of-the-month recently, haha
Re: Rayman Origins
I never checked whether another nymph mentions Polokus, but I'm going to assume that all of them mention the name on the map. I want to replay Origins and Legends soon, so when I do I'll check if the others mention his name too.

Re: Rayman Origins
Looks like Edith Up doesn't, at least not in the French version…

Re: Rayman Origins
I want to get a copy of Collectors Edition of this Rayman Origins just to have, but it seems to be getting more expensive and harder to get. I can find one for £50 sealed on ebay UK for Xbox 360, which seems much cheaper than what the French ebay wants for it.
Edith Up doesn't mention Polokus on the English version either it turns out. I've made it that far playing on Linux without any issues at all using d9vk.
UPDATE: I've tried the game on both Fedora 30 and Debian 10 so far, I'm playing the Steam version and using Proton. Basically after using protontricks (or winetricks if you're not using Steam) to enable d9vk, I've had zero issues with missing sprites. With galliumnine there were still some issues with some long sprites like so:
With d9vk on AMD everything seems to be working really well. It's worth mentioning that I was using d9vk012 and noticed some minor transparency issues, but d9vk013 seems to have solved that so I took a new screenshot:
I have an AMD GPU (VEGA 64), but d9vk also works on NVIDIA GPU's, as I've tested it (with a 1070Ti) to make sure. The downside for now is that NVIDIA seems to still have slight breaks in the trails leading to the cages, but it's still much better than galliumnine was, especially for NVIDIA users:
I know galliumnine also didn't work on Nvidia proprietary drivers, only on Nouveau ones, which resulted in terrible performance. Since d9vk actually works on NVIDIA drivers, it performs really well. I feel like your mileage may vary on NVIDIA depending on your driver version.

Ah yes, NVidia. That explains why it didn't work so well for me...

Re: Rayman Origins
Yesterday I wanted to get back to this game to play it some more to get the remaining Electoons and all but then I remembered that I deleted it because some other program required more space and that was a very stupid decision on my part because now if I want to play it again, I'm gonna have to start from scratch which could be a slight pain in the ass but I'm gonna play it again either way as I really think it's a true masterpiece. The art style of it is my favorite kind out of the entire Rayman series as it gives a cartoony feel to the game which perfectly fits the Rayman universe, I also love how it's handdrawn, and gameplay-wise, it's overall a fun experience. The soundtrack is also wonderful.
Re: Rayman Origins
Yeah that's unfortunate, but it's still much better than playing the game without it. It's better that it at least works on the proprietary drivers, and hopefully things will improve in future releases.
If you have the GOG version it will have it backed up to the cloud. If not, it saves in "C:\Users\<your_username>\Documents\My Games\Rayman Origins". It would be good to back that up every so often if you plan to go back to the game. Unfortunately I made the same mistake more than once of not backing it up.

Re: Rayman Origins
Ah ok, thanks for the tip! Just out of curiosity, what backup software do you use or what do you recommend?
Re: Rayman Origins
If you had to you could put it on a cloud like Onedrive or something. You could use and external HDD or a USB flash drive but there's always a chance of losing those too.

Re: Rayman Origins
UPDATE: As a huge relief, to my surprise, I didn't have to start all over again since it remembered that I got all the four Kings and that I got most of the Electoons, just like before I uninstalled it!
Re: Rayman Origins
I was thinking chances are that the save might have still been in the documents folder. I had my saves break before and I couldn't remember which one was the broken one, so I just started again when I started playing on Linux. I made it past Sea Of Serendipity last night and the game has had zero issues so far.
Starting over might have been good for me to test it properly on Linux anyway, and I love the game.

Re: Rayman Origins
Same, as I said, I think it's a true masterpiece.
Anyway, what's interesting is that sometimes in the Jibberish Jungle and Ticklish Temples, if you listen closely, you can hear Betilla speaking in Pig Latin to the music. Now of course, I can't decipher what she's saying, but this got me curious as to what exactly she's saying in Pig Latin. So if anyone can maybe get that audio from the game (alone without the music playing in the background of course) that would be amazing. Thanks in advance.

Re: Rayman Origins
I'm still in progress of finishing it again. I feel like if I can 100% it on Linux without any issues/bugs, that would be the perfect test for it. I'm also changing my favourite version to PC since it can run at higher resolutions than 1080p and it looks amazing.
PS3 does have a much higher quality intro video, but aside from that, I really do favour the PC version.

Re: Rayman Origins
Doesn't she just say something like "oupa-yay"? I don't know, I'd have to listen to it again…Aaron wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 7:13 pm Same, as I said, I think it's a true masterpiece.

Re: Rayman Origins
Of all the times I played Origins, I only found out today that you could hit Lava rocks away and even defeat enemies with them. I was messing slapped one with Globox, I didn't think it would actually work.

Interesting, I never knew that! That's pretty cool!
Something along the lines of that, though not exactly. This got me curious as to what she says exactly in Pig Latin so that the person who finds out can translate it to English, that would be phenomenal!

Re: Rayman Origins
If you've played Rayman 1, it's not something you'd be inclined to try!
