If you've played Rayman 1, it's not something you'd be inclined to try!
I played Rayman 1 many times, but I didn't think it would work because they don't break up in Origins like they do in Rayman 1. It makes the game a lot easier knowing that though, I used to have trouble on some level parts because I was just trying to avoid them.
Still though, I feel a bit silly for not knowing that, considering I played Origins so many times in the last year and I'm actually fairly good at it.

Of all the times I played Origins, I only found out today that you could hit Lava rocks away and even defeat enemies with them. I was messing slapped one with Globox, I didn't think it would actually work.

That's true. Though considering that the stone men themselves have been made destructible, it's clear that the rules have been changed radically!

I did explain it briefly on this thread, I wasn't sure if there was much point creating a new topic when it's basically just using steam play (proton) and enabling d9vk in protontricks, assuming one has the steam version.
I should have tried the GOG and uplay versions, but the only difference would be running winetricks to enable d9vk in a slightly different fashion.
I guess I could repost what I have on the last page in that thread. I'm not too sure if it would benefit anyone though. Saying that, many of the reports of the game on protondb say "runs out of the box", and don't even mention the missing sprites. Others also say that the sprites are missing, but that the game is "playable", with no explanation on how to fix it.
I guess I did try to "live with it" when I played in 2014, and I did get quite a bit into it before deeming it unplayable (at which point I resorted to booting Windows 7, which I had at the time). Still though, one should really try to finish it before writing reports up there…

I confirmed that it definitely works without any issues on AMD cards now anyway. I wouldn't say it looks like it should be unplayable on Nvidia either, but I would have to play the entire game as you said to be sure.
Interestingly, I got sidetracked having fun playing on Linux, and in turn, forgot to check for other mentions of Polokus.
Hey guys, I've created higher bitrate and refresh rate versions of the video files in Rayman Origins. I took the PS3 videos and reencoded them with Bink.
Oh that's great! I need the lines of dialogue from the Bubble Dreamer when you pull his beard with each character (I believe that's the only way to get the characters' names, right?).
