Misheard Song Lyrics
We've all been there, where you like a song, yet you've been hearing/singing the wrong lyrics for a long time, only to read the lyrics one day and be like wtf!?
Basically, just post the name of the song, what the line was supposed to be, and what you thought it was saying.
___
I'll start with Green Day - American Idiot.
I used to always think the line was:
"Can you hear the sound of the stereo"
Where it turned out he's actually saying:
"Can you hear the sound of hysteria".

Oh shoot, this could've been fun! Well, I'll post here anyway, since one of the goals of Record Day is to shuffle the discussion topics for the rest of the year too!
I used to think that in American Pie, the good old boys were drinking "whiskey and wine" rather than "whiskey and rye". I've also read a theory that it's actually "in Rye", referring to a location in New York State.

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
I can think of a good few Elton John songs where I spent the whole time mishearing lyrics. Like with Sacrifice for example, I’d hear the line “cold, cold heart” as “coco pops”.
Then with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road I misheard “going back to my plough” as “going back to my cloud”, and “hunting the horny back toad” as “right at the heart of my toe”. I’m weird like that.

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
To be fair, I don't think I've ever caught any of the lyrics of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, apart from the title itself!

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
Many people believe when listening to Eiffel 65's song "I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee)", they mishearded the phrase "I'm blue da ba dee da ba daa" as "I'm blue, if I was green I would die".
I actually heard it saying the previous one, which it's correct.

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
Yeah that song has been known for having misheard lyrics, I've heard many rumours about it, even though it literally says da ba dee in the title.

Bumped.
The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star
Whenever I heard "Video Killed The Radio Star", I kept thinking they were saying "Video Killed The Radio Store".
Still to this day, I think they do. Like when I sing the lyrics, I still say "Store" even though I know it is "Star".

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
Their accent they sing the song in really does sound like "store" to be honest.

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
I was today years old when I found out what the actual lyrics to the hit 90s dance song Push the Feeling On by the Nightcrawlers are and it blew my mind that it was just "their lives again their lives pull us through" over and over.

Bumped.
I have been hearing this a lot when playing GTA Vice City which was before I actually liked the song.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Two Tribes
Original lyrics:
When two tribes go to war.
A point is all that you can score.
Score no more! Score no more!
When two tribes go to war.
A point is all that you can score.
Working for the black gas.
What I thought they were saying way before I looked at the lyrics:
When two tribes go to war.
Money is for that toucan soul.
Scold the mourn! Scold the mourn!
When two tribes go to war.
Money is for that toucan soul.
Working for the bad gas.

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
I was so bad with this song that I literally thought it was saying "when two tribes score a goal, one is all that you can score". Why would it even say something like this, it doesn't even make much sense.

I always thought they were saying "Money's won that you can't store".
Dark Rayman says hi! I'm also still in Candy Chateau!
My current rank is: Medieval Dragon! Perhaps some minty freshness will cool down that breath!

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
OK! Here's one from Super Trouper by Abba
The Lyric goes: "When I called you last night from Glasgow"
I always heard it as: "When I called you last night from Tesco"
For those who don't know. Tesco is a supermarket in the UK.

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
We have Tesco here too in Ireland, pretty popular too.
There's also R.E.M. - Man on the Moon. I used to think he was saying:
"If you believe, there's nothing up there to see, then nothing is cool".
It actually says:
"If you believe, there's nothing up his sleeve, then nothing is cool".

Thanks to PluM for the reminder, now I have the opportunity to share probably the best misheard song ever
"Eso son Reebok o son Nike" - This is the rhythm of the night

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics
