1.4.2 is here! The quicker bug fixes! :P
This solves what was accidentally broken in 1.4.1 and also fixes two more things!
Sorry that you already have to download a new update, it's my fault for reporting this one too quickly! :noel:

Changelog:
-Fixed the broken pause menu

-Fixed checkpoints not working if they share a coordinate with Rayman's initial position

-Fixed custom music being affected by the sfx volume
Well, guess the other planned fixes are for 1.4.3 then! :mryellow:

I don't even know what's the precise source of that sound or what its actual name, but I know for a fact I've heard it many times throughout my life! It barely even sounds fitting for that kind of glass! :lol:
And now that we have mentioned this game enough times, I am contractually obligated to bring back one of the worst best repetitive quotes ever put into a video game! :bad: :hinhinhin:



And yeah, it's indeed Getting Lost! Good level, though I did end up "getting lost" in a way during the final part as I was too tired and sick that day! :oops2:
Other included levels I didn't mention are Pokeworld and Monthly Challenge 1 (since it's the only one in its series, I assume a certain someone got too ambitious with their original plans! :P ... Just like what I do with everything I announce! :hap:).
Can’t wait to see what people will be able to cook up for this game, this year! :)


EDIT: Time for 1.4.3 already! One fix to solve yet another thing our fellow toast-man broke in the last updates, and one small tweak!
That one is also my fault for reporting the Space Mama issue. :hap:


Changelog:
-Fixed space mama's flying attack

-Tweaked the line width of section, grid and object selection borders
While it's not mentionned, the readme file has been updated for the latest content, and there's now a second audiogroup.dat file added in the game's folder since the last two updates.
I don't know what the latter contains exactly, but since the data.win file has also lost a lot of weight, it can be assumed the sounds it contained have been separated to make it easier to share mods of the game (so you don't have to share a gigantic file just for some sprites/textures you may change). Whether it's intentional or not, it's definitely convenient! :mryellow:

This should be the final update... and by "final", I mean THE final update for the game! :!:
Ryemanni clearly isn't intending to make more, unless more critical bugs are found... But from my testing, it seems like the game is perfectly stable now (but still, remain careful and save your level regularly just in case).

So, guess we have to wait for the day where the holy source code will drop, heh? :noel:
See you in 2044 when another Rayman 4 is revealed and then cancelled. :hap:

Is your computer 64-bit or 32-bit? If it’s the latter, I doubt you can run any of the new versions.
Game Maker has dropped the 32-bit support, and so Ryemanni can’t make the game compatible with it anymore.

EDIT: Well, I hope that your issue has been solved since whatever you posted before I came back (I received two notifications about posts which I cannot see but I get an error message when clicking on them :paranormal:).
Now that I’ve realised, I can’t see the ".exe" file extension or the icon on your Rayman ReDesigner file (but the extensions are still visible on the audiogroup and data ones)... Did you rename it? Because removing this file extension will break the file and take away the icon, so that could be the cause... :idea:

Hi there! I have returned with a demo and an update! :mrgreen:
First off, here’s the final demo of Rayman 2 Forever’s Fairy Glade!

Note: You have to download both to have the music in the bonus sections. The second bundle also contains the original graphics which couldn’t be included in the other zip due to the file size limit here (the original graphic for the first level had to be excluded from both, but you can still get it in the previous demo).

It contains all of its levels aside from the world maps and it should be fully functional (but tell me if anything is wrong or if some things could be improved... that’s the point of the demo after all! :mryellow:).
There’s also a readme file and a proper description now and a few things were adjusted in previous levels! Here are the changes:
-The Checkpoints will now only appear when picking the grey "Lums". They have also been placed differently so the Photographer doesn’t look like he’s floating in the air. I think that’s a good compromise between gameplay and being faithful to the original game.
-Some of the Gendoors/Killdoors which weren’t in the original game have been silenced, while the other ones make a subtler sound (those that spawn a Magician Token or a Checkpoint for example). The bonus screen will be far more quiet now! :noel:

It took forever longer than expected to properly finalise the third level and the bonus one... All because of some issues which I didn’t expect... Indeed, I forgot about one thing: the Coloured Tings reappears when you return to the section! So, unless you could somehow backtrack to the beginning, it would be impossible to get all "Lums" and the Token when playing the bonus level...
So I came up with a solution (but I don’t know if it will work in the next worlds...): in a way similar to what I did with the World Map’s portals, returning victorious (and only victorious) from the bonus level will make you spawn into a Killdoor which you can’t access otherwise. This Killdoor will remove all the Yellow Tings which can be found before the bonus level.
Sure, a more accurate solution would be to replace all the "Lumz" with Magician Tokens, but it wouldn’t look good and the sound would get pretty annoying... That also means you can sorta "cheat" by winning the bonus level even if you didn’t get all the Yellow Tings, but I think this was the best compromise to make it work.

As for the second problem: since the bonus is too short to make the Gendoor Fairy into an accurate timer, I had to make it spawn a second one so the timer can be exactly 24 seconds... But since I can’t killdoor this other fairy, it means that it will spawn the portals which make you lose even if you collected all the "Globoxes" (who are replaced by Blue Bolls here). So you’ll have to be careful and get into the portals right away... but if you’re quick enough (if you beat the bonus in under 19 seconds for example), the fairy won’t have the time to spawn its successor and so it will work like before!
Another thing that made me waste a lot of time was the fact that the "losing portals" didn’t work at all during my testing, even using many different setups. Rayman ReDesigner is quite tricky when it comes to objects’ layers, and so it wouldn’t count the proper portals no matter what I tried here... So my last resort was to move the Killdoor intended for the fairy just a bit downwards! It shouldn’t change anything for you, but I just wanted to bring it up because it was very annoying and in case you noticed the Killdoor’s unusual position in the editor.
So, yeah... Your feedback will be very useful here so I can be sure of all this will be fine for the final release (which will be very soon if everything goes well). Dark Legacy should be finished in a week or two. Now, I’ll also be able to add the foreground decorations from the original game into every GBC world thanks to the custom graphics layers! :hehe:


As for the updates, well nothing new here for now... However, just to celebrate Rock’n’Run’s anniversary and to fix a few things broken in the latest updates of the game, I’ve released a new version of the level and its variations (which includes the Casual Mix and Holy Plum’s Test Remix) with minor changes!

Rock’n’Run Pack V4

Here’s the list:
-Fixed the Music mechanisms which didn’t play the proper sound anymore (in old levels, this item is permanently altered since ReDesigner’s final updates as it added all of the music into the object and changed their order, resulting in the improper ones being selected).
-Improved the volume in some of the music files and renamed all of them. Now, they are also part of the "Mortamon Saturn" custom subfolder which I use in my current levels, so I won’t make your Custom folder as much of a mess as before! :oops2:
-Inverted the track in the secret area of the Casual Mix... just for fun (now you may even recognise some of the sounds I used for it)! :bad:
-Removed the custom background which was used in that same secret area. It was all a teaser for the Spooky RayDungeon so it has no importance now.
-The Spooky RayDungeon’s demo and its custom files aren’t part of the bundle anymore... Thus finally fixing the heavy download issue for Rock’n’Run! :P
-There’s now only one readme and it has been updated accordingly, using the same structure as the one I use for GBC ReDesigned.

That’s just a little something until Rock’n’Run’s remake!

Have you tried the suggestion I gave you in my post's edit? Try to add the missing .exe to the file's name (rename the Rayman ReDesigner file to Rayman ReDesigner.exe) and see if anything changes.
Your README is also missing its .txt extension from what I can see, though that one doesn't really matter.

Also is this folder a brand new install or did you mixed/replaced some of the files with those from a previous version of ReDesigner? If that's the case, maybe try to download it again and do not move/merge any files.
If that doesn't work out either, then I'm out of ideas... You'll probably have to ask Ryemanni...

Isn't that just because the default setting in Windows is to hide known file extensions? The icon indicates that the extension is there but hidden...

Anyway, I don't know what causes Windows 10 to pop up this (stupid and unhelpful) error message. It feels like it would be interesting to investigate though, if I have time :bad:

Yeah, never mind what I said about the readme file as that one clearly has the extension set to be hidden, the icon would have been broken otherwise...
However, when I hide the extensions in my own file explorer, it also hides the one from the data.win file (unlike what can be seen in raymandesigner's picture), which is why I assumed the Rayman ReDesigner was just missing its ".exe" (but regardless, it has neither the proper ReDesigner icon or the default missing one). :?

Also, I got this crash recently when exiting the editor + saving (which is a completely random occurrence from my experience as I didn't edit anything since my previous save). Neither me nor Ryemanni knows why it happened, though he said he's going to investigate regardless.
Just adding this as a warning to everyone so you make sure to save regularly.

Seems like a lot has been going on since I'd been away! I'll make sure to get the very definitely and totally "final" update so I can play newer levels without any problems! Makes me feel bad for all the old levels that will probably never be updated again... :|
(speaking of which, I ought to update my few single screen test levels that I made to get a handle on the editor! Might need to make some newer ones, too!)

Funny you bring up that boss, I happened to wind up fighting that one on my 2022 New Year's run. I really despise Mad Matrix because it's extremely easy to fall off, and the boss certainly gave me a lot more trouble than I'm used to...Eggman's lines were starting to cut themselves off he was spamming so much. Definitely urged me to shake off the rust and get it over with before it drove me up the wall! :fou:

Lost Impact after that isn't much better, being a enemy hunt level that takes me way too long to complete, but at least I love the music there. Really need to get better at that one, too...

Today I've worked on two new levels: Blue Cavern and another one that is a bit secret for now. Blue Cavern is an easy level, it's almost done and it will be out quite soon I think. The other one is shorter but harder, it will be a little challenge.

Hi there! Sorry for the silence recently, I’ve just suffered through two weeks of disease and so I still have to catch up with tons of things. So obviously, I’ve been unable to make much progress on anything for Rayman ReDesigner, sadly... So, yup, still no Dark Legacy, no finished Fairy Glade, no updates, nothing... :(

But in the meanwhile, I can still share a few things! Here’s a video showcasing all the demos I’ve released so far for GBC ReDesigned!



The world maps are almost complete and so the Fairy Glade ReDesigned shouldn’t take much time... Unless I get sick again because this planet hates me. :hap:

The original environment will finally look complete in the updates! :mrgreen:
However, from looking on Ray1Map, it seems that only the GBC version had these (and Dark Legacy + Rayman 2 Forever don’t have foreground graphics either), so you won’t be able to enjoy them in the PPC and Palm OS versions... Maybe I’ll see if I can create foreground visuals for these in the final complete release, but I won’t promise anything.


On an unrelated note, here’s also an example of a Grolgoth boss fight being simulated using custom graphics layers and by hiding Darktoon in some of the limbs (which are destructible)!

It seems there aren’t any more problems, at least none which can be easily found. The good thing is that most old levels are still fully functional as the recent updates only "broke" the music objects (by "broken", I mean that some different music will replace the drum tracks which were selected before as the order completely changed when the whole soundtrack got added to this mechanism). I’ll make sure to update everything that I made when I have the time! :mryellow:

Mad Matrix really is... an "experience"! And with these lines on par with those from the "other" most talkative boss of all time, it’s even better! :hap:



Generally, the ARK tends to have some of the best music in that game!... But not really the best levels, tho. :lol:

Guess that’s three weeks, or four, or five, by now... Sorry for building the anticipation too soon! Guess that’s what you could call... a "lost impact"! :fou: :oops2:
2023 is only beginning, and counting the first week of January, I’ve already been sick for half of the year so far. We’re off to a great start! :noelnoir:
I haven’t reached *the* downgrade so far, but here’s the basic GBC look with the oil-painting filter in the meanwhile:

I'm actually working on Frying Pan Nightmare :)
As you can guess, Rayman will have to deal with the frying pan all the time :o
I don't know yet if the level will be easy, medium or hard, I didn't choose the difficulty yet. :P

Little sneak peak: here's a first prototype of the first screen for the level.

That sudden flash freeze caused a bit of sickness in our house...I'm fine though. I guess I was already sick enough of Mad Matrix and its noisy boss! (love the Lost Impact joke btw, that's pretty clever :lol:)

I love the recent inclusion of the foreground objects, it was one of my favorite things in GBC Rayman! :mryellow: That was a minor but lovable detail that was missing. It's really cool that you got them to work. (How'd you do it, out of curiosity?)

I'm still hype for whenever Dark Legacy is done, no matter how long it takes.

So, what does this first world of "Man 2 Foreverer Remember" could contain? Well, this has three levels, a bonus + a variation of it with a stricter time limit, the World Map and Time Attack!...
Now you may be wondering, is the level design still as boring [EXCITING] and empty [ACTION-PACKED] as it was originally? Maybe, but it’s in Rayman ReDesigner, which means it’s super extra fun now! And anyway your opinion was always wrong. :hap:
And I can prove it! Let me show you my satisfIed face after replaying the beginning of this super duper perfect game!: :baille:



But besides the World Map and Time Attacked, what are the biggus dickus improvements that make this so superior to the demos? :?:
Well, now you can actually replay the bonus level from Time Defense!... Huh, what do you mean you could already do that in Rayman GBC ReDesigned? WELL I WASN’T DONE, LITTLE TIMMY! :pascontent:
Hear me out: you can do that again... but this time, you don’t actually have to replay the freaking normal levels afterwards and you’re sent back to Team Sonic Attack! Incredible, I know! "But how is this possible only NOW!?" Stop interrupting me with your questions, you stupid tiny human I’ve actually made up!! Since Raman Too Forever Together has fewer levels in its worlds, it means I can fill these blank spots with a copy of a bonus stage, for example! So, when you go to the bonus screen from Time Pac-Attack, you’re sent to a duplicate of this level rather than the original one you played in the main levels.
This second version of the bonus has also received some tiny changes to make it more interesting! For example here, I’ve replaced the blue water collisions with green ones (yes, Ray 2 BBC is so well designed that you can even die in the *b o n u s* levels! 🙃), I’ve removed one useless line of these collisions to put the Fairy’s reactionary tile further down, and you have less seconds to collect all the Bolls! OMAGAWD it’s sooo funni, he said the word Balls!!!1!! The last thing is intended as a reference to the record system from the original GBC games, and I’ve even added the proper winning screen for it!... And of course, this screen is copy-pasted from the first Rayman GBC, because we really didn’t have the time and budget to make a new one! :noel:
And the best thing is that it only took me t w o h o u r s to get the losing portals to work this time since this stoopid spaghetti-coded game refused to cooperate! Only to figure out that the reason why this didn’t function is because it only works with the Coloured Tings and not the Bolls for whatever reason!... Well, excuse me, but this is BALLS! :grrrrrr:

Otherwise, all the portals in these maps function exactly as before, so I don’t need to explain anything there. The only difference is that the portal inside the top gate of both the World Map and Team Dark Attack have their own dedicated spawn points near each other.
I’ve also added an extra exit sign in Time-to-Attack so you don’t spend your time climbing through the whole area just to get back to the one containing the end of the level. Which is perfect since there’s a lot of empty space in these locations (which only exist so you can run around for minutes and take the time to reflect on how much of an empty V O I D this game can be :mefiant: )!
Another improvement is the music... Remember those extra beats you could hear in this """classic""" and in the 3DS port of Rayman GBC? They’re here now! I’ve also cut some bits of the tracks so they sound like what they used to be in Ayman 2 Teh Great Escape Foreaver!... And if you don’t like them well frick you, the originals are still in a extra subfolder! :hehe:

Now here are the skins! They’re the same, but I’ve improved a few Tings things like Rayman’s hair when he’s climbing, or some faces of the Dark Raymans... Raymans? Raymen? :paranormal:

Huh? You think that my personality was very different and way too silly in this post? Well, try to catch up with weeks worth of work and conversations when you have been sick for half of the year and when you still had tons of things to finish for the new year, it does t h i n g s to your brain! :fou2: :confus:
Also it’s for Raymen Too(k) ForevAr, the funi Raymond game with meme cutscenes which absolutely everyone remembers and loves, so I wasn’t gonna take this seriously. :hap:
In all seriousness, I don’t hate this game and I’m just messing around. I still think it’s quite good for Game Boy standards... It’s just that we’re used to better from Rayman. :oops2:

That sudden flash freeze caused a bit of sickness in our house...I'm fine though. I guess I was already sick enough of Mad Matrix and its noisy boss! (love the Lost Impact joke btw, that's pretty clever :lol:)

I love the recent inclusion of the foreground objects, it was one of my favorite things in GBC Rayman! :mryellow: That was a minor but lovable detail that was missing. It's really cool that you got them to work. (How'd you do it, out of curiosity?)

I'm still hype for whenever Dark Legacy is done, no matter how long it takes.

I loved this stuff too and I forgot it was even a thing until I returned to the game for these projects!
There’s a new layer option when you place down custom graphics, so now all you have to do is to only take the foreground on Ray1Map (for example) and to paste it over the environment using the custom graphic object as usual, but with the "in front of everything" option. So in GBC ReDesigned’s case, it doesn’t look different until Rayman or something else moves through one of these visuals, just like in the original game.

(...I really oughta mess around in ReDesigner myself. Haven't really done anything except for play other people's levels and custom skins.)

Thanks for your concern! I think we got through that fine, mostly...At least two people got sick afterwards, though. Wish I could make Shadow puns too, but I can never remember any of the level names. :oops2:

The foreground/background objects are cool, I'd love to see what people will do with them!

You're welcome. I'm pretty curious what the lowgrade systems did with Dark Legacy's graphics myself! The grayscale one is probably 2spooky like Rocky Peaks was, hopefully it's not as empty as it was too! :shock:
