Probably because Rayman 1 was the best selling PS1 game in the UK (maybe all of europe, idk), And made a nod to the first game. I didn't know the PS1 version was the last (at the time) to be released ^^

It wasn't the last, but it certainly wasn't the first. Funny then, that it contains the Rayman 2 2D prototype.

Well another reason why its different is because the PS1 version was created by a different Ubisoft, I think Ubisoft montreal made the Rayman 2 we know and love(N64, PC, DC etc.) and Ubisoft Montpelier made the PS1 version, I could be wrong here, so anyone reading this correct me...

Montpellier are the main guys, the only title in the main 5 that they didn't make was Rayman 3. It was Singapore who did the PS1 version.
