There's a place near me selling one for 40$. I'd buy one, but I don't really care for anything on it aside from R2. :/

I'm curious if there are any major differences between this and the other versions (save 3ds), besides the resolution.

Can confirm the 3DS version is VERY crusty, although I think it's very charming because of it.

The first versions of the game that I played were the 3DS and the Wii versions. Now I’ve played the PS3 version theirs no going back.

I'm pretty sure I played the PSVita version first, but I recently got a copy in for the 3DS.
While I think the actual 3D vision is pretty nifty, you can easily see a quality difference between the two portables. I also kept feeling like the audio was clipping a lot on the 3DS version, but was clean on the Vita as well. Is it just me or has anyone else felt the same?

It could even be possible that the audio has issues like that too. They might have heavily compressed some of those to even fit them on the cartridge and maybe during that process, it ended up with some brick wall limitation.

That is a fair point, which makes me curious what the size differences are between the 3DS and Vita version of the game.

Has no one ever compared the file sizes of the two versions?

So with a Google Search, the Vita Release size chart shows it to be 932MB, where the 3DS version is sized at 1,555 blocks. Which apparently equals roughly 194MB.

Sounds like quite a lot of compression to be only about 20% of the size.

Which is funny to think about, considering the download from RayTunes, my files are easily 836MB alone for the game music. FLAC format, of course, but you ain't getting any lossless quality out of a 3DS version with that much compression.

Yeah it makes sense though given the cartridge space limitations, and even the 3DS of course isn't going to be as powerful as the Vita. Then again, Vita has carts too, of course, clearly much bigger ones. 3DS though, the textures are so low quality that you can even see it on the 400x240 screen how blurred some things are. I'm sure Vita would be still using mipmapping though, as it looks really nice.

Indeed, their cartridges are rather limited in capacity. It's an honest shame they couldn't have made it better.

I'm looking into this again, it looks like the cartridge sizes for the 3DS can be 2GB or greater, which I believe is the size Kid Icarus: Uprising uses. So the reality is, why is Rayman Origins on the 3DS as small and compressed as it is?
