It's true, but I don't really mind that Rayman's personality was never developed too much. It keeps an air of mystery around him.
Additionally, Rayman not speaking too much makes it easier for the player to put himself or herself in the hero's shoes.
Woah, i actually never interpreted it like that before, really interesting when you put it that way :O
But on the other side, i really don't think that really fits Rayman imo, don't get me wrong, but i'm just more used to Rayman expressing how his character is (like showing he can be cocky at times) in the games, it just gives a lot of charm to him rather than being the silent protagonist, you know?

Still, it's a pretty cool interpretation indeed

Sure thing he does. I won't be wodering if he starts being afraid of dying as much as we all do... also I added him a goatee hehe
Rayman XXX: The limbless existencial crisis when?

You know even if it was unintentional from Ubisoft's part, i really love how his design and personality changes in the games can be interpreted as a way to show how much he has grown as a character in a way. (i guess a way to define it would be "unintentional character development"?

)

So I just went down a small rabbit hole that led to a very interesting possibility. Here's what my brain went through in the last half hour...
Today I found out that in the game files for
Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, there was an
unused table for Amiibo support. Among the names on that list was the limbless lad himself, Rayman. This meant that not only was he meant to appear in the game, he was also supposed to have an Amiibo at one point. They probably scrapped the idea because his lack of limbs took the concept off the table prematurely.
But while I was adding this find to the RayWiki, an interesting thought crossed my mind: why would they have made a Rayman Amiibo in the first place? At the time of Mario Maker's 3DS port, the only Rayman games that were on Amiibo-compatible consoles (so that means the 3DS and Wii U) were Rayman Origins' 3DS port and Rayman Legends for the Wii U. Neither of those games had any sort of Amiibo support at any point, and to my knowledge, all of the third-party Amiibo (and most of the first-party ones) were created for a specific game in the series that the Amiibo belonged to. There weren't any Amiibo from third-party franchises that were exclusively created for the Mario Maker games; as far as I know, the only Amiibo that were from third-party IPs and weren't tied to existing games were for... the Super Smash Bros. games.
If Rayman was planned to have an Amiibo at some point, and there weren't any games in his series that supported Amiibo, could that mean that Rayman was originally meant to be a fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, with an Amiibo for him tied to that game? If he was, why was he passed up? It couldn't have just been because of the "no limbs, no Amiibo" thing, right?
That's as far as my train of thought went, at least for now. So what do you guys think about all this? I'd like to know!

How much water do you think Rayman had to drink when he wrote his name in the snow in that one Rayman 3 commercial?

...I'm unsure how to answer that question XD
I'm gonna take a wild shot in the dark (haha get it? dark?) and say 6 gallons (if he can even stomach that much, but that makes me fear of a thing called water toxicity).

I wonder if Michel Ancel intended for every Rayman game to be a soft reboot set in a new location with a new cast of characters. Michel Ancel requested that the cancelled Rayman 2000 be set in an urban environment with buildings, towns and streets and after Rayman 3 released, Michel Ancel also said that he would have done things differently if he had developed Rayman 3. Considering Rayman 2000's city and vehicles were retooled and reused in Rayman: The Animated Series, maybe Michel Ancel had intended for Lac-Mac, Cookie, Flips and Betina to replace Globox, Ly, the teensies and other Rayman 2 characters in Rayman 2000.

well if that's the case, then I'm kind of happy that never came to fruition as the concept of such a game really doesn't appeal to me

How can he see underwater without the water disturbing and causing pain to his eyes, ocean water has so much salt in it...
