Re: Rayman himself

It would be interesting to see a Rayman-game as a turn-based role-playing game, either officially or as a fan-game, like Angry Birds Epic.
Did you try Rayman in the Phantom Show?Rock_TBT wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 5:08 pm It would be interesting to see a Rayman-game as a turn-based role-playing game, either officially or as a fan-game, like Angry Birds Epic.
Unfortunately, it is not on PC.Hunchman801 wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 7:49 pm Give it a try! It's the closest you'll get to a turn-based Rayman RPG. Rayman feels a bit out of place there but at least they added nice references there and there.
You're not the only one to think that. I know Phantom Show sort of touches on the RPG aspect, but I think it's more of a strategy game than a classic RPG. Rayman as a classic RPG would be absolutely fire and fitting for his world.Rock_TBT wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 5:08 pm It would be interesting to see a Rayman-game as a turn-based role-playing game, either officially or as a fan-game, like Angry Birds Epic.
I wholeheartedly agree with that! I've fantasized about such a concept a few times before, and I believe Phantom Show did give us a taste of that, but I would love for a whole team to take the plunge and create a full Rayman RPG game.Earth Gwee wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 9:30 pm You're not the only one to think that. A full-blown Rayman RPG would be absolutely incredible! Imagine exploring the Glade of Dreams in a turn-based style, with all the different characters as party members and a deeper dive into the lore.Rock_TBT wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 5:08 pm It would be interesting to see a Rayman-game as a turn-based role-playing game, either officially or as a fan-game, like Angry Birds Epic.
Yeah, that's the one. Honestly, it's quite unbelievable that the image was made by actual Rayman 2 developers. But after seeing that Otto Psi is a Nazi according to the files and one of the levels in Rayman Origins is straight up called Pearl Harbour, i'm not surprised... Man, what was going through the developers' heads, i wonder?Hunchman801 wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 10:42 am This is the picture you mean, right?
As far as I know, it was indeed created by some of the Rayman 2 developers. It was shared here by Michaël Guarné, the author of L'Histoire de Rayman.
What!? Which one is it?Magelin wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 2:32 pm [...] and one of the levels in Rayman Origins is straight up called Pearl Harbour, i'm not surprised... Man, what was going through the developers' heads, i wonder?![]()
Uhh, no they're not? I can't speak for internal names, but at least in the final game there aren't any levels in any Rayman game called Pearl Harbor.Magelin wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 2:32 pm one of the levels in Rayman Origins is straight up called Pearl Harbour
I'm not too surprised myself. They're just humans making jokes, after all, and schoolboy humor was commonplace in the video game industry of the early 2000s.Magelin wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 2:32 pm Yeah, that's the one. and incase if anyone's curious, the english translated text says "I have no arms, so what? He doesn't even have a head anymore!!! RAH AHHAPROVALL!!!!!" or something along the line if i'm correct here.Hunchman801 wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 10:42 am This is the picture you mean, right?

As for Rayman's inclusion in the DLC... it's pretty obvious he was a second (or third) choice, given the complete disconnect between Rayman's universe and the DLC's story and setting (the Phantom and his Space Opera Network).
The devs liked the Phantom so much they designed the DLC around him, making the guest star feel like an afterthought.
Well, yeah, i already know edgy things like this were common back in the 2000s, but, still... I think those jokes are in a poor tasteHunchman801 wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 9:52 am I'm not too surprised myself. What's with Otto being a Nazi though? I don't remember that one.
Any stock image or specifically stock images of aubergines?rxohehe wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2026 3:08 pm it's kind of easy to just use a stock image and draw a circle to make a poorly designed rayman torso,, lmao
