The desert of the Knaaren is a harsh, scorching plain of sand, dotted by rocky outcrops and yarning chasms. However, beneath the barren, lifeless surface is an enormous tunnel and cave system that delves deep into the rocky under-layers. This is where the native species of the world, [[Knaaren]], dwell. They guard their domain fiercely and effectively, constantly pacing the many passages.

A '''Knaaren''' is a member of an enemy monster species found only in ''[[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc]]''. They are tall, fierce creatures whose attacks are dangerously strong, and they dwell solely in [[the Desert of the Knaaren]]. They live in the deep labyrinthine caves beneath the blistering sands of the desert, building numerous tunnels and meeting grounds to connect their domain.
Various members of the species may be summoned by a nearby gong, calling all surrounding Knaaren to move to the gong's position. This can be used as an effective distraction when trying to navigate their caves undetected.
They are ruled by their Lord, [[Gumsi]], who is noticeably smaller than an average Knaaren - indicating he may be a child emperor.

'''Polokus''' is a character that appears only in ''[[Rayman 2: The Great Escape]]''. He is the spirit of [[the Glade of Dreams]], and it is a legend told to all who live in it that he created it all with his dreams.

==Appearance==
Polokus is a short, fat, and aging creature resembling an amphibian, with extremely long arms and infected toenails. He wears a pair of blue-green trousers and a tall mauve and gold magician's hat.

==Biography==
Polokus himself was created by the [[Yellow Lum]]s. After finishing creating this world, he went into a deep sleep to have a meeting with the other gods so they discuss the future. Before doing this, Polokus created four masks that, when reunited, would awaken Polokus in case their was trouble. To avoid anyone waking him needlessly, he hid them in the four corners of the world and placed Guardians there to protect them, each one with a weakness. This was done in such a way that only one being could get these masks: [[Rayman]].

It is when [[Admiral Razorbeard|Razorbeard]] and his [[Robo-Pirate Army|Robo-Pirate]] army attack in [[Rayman 2: The Great Escape]] that Rayman must collect the four masks. After every time Rayman collects a mask, he meets Polokus in his dreams. Polokus takes the mask and urges Rayman to find the rest. After Rayman finds them all, Polokus explains that Rayman will have to fight Razorbeard on the prison ship because on the earth, Polokus is strong but when in the air he is as vulnerable as a newborn. Then he gives Rayman maximum energy and teleports him to the Prison Ship. Polokus then eliminates all the Robo-Pirates infesting the planet.

At the end of the game, Polokus joins the rest at Rayman's funeral, very sad. Then Rayman arrives, alive, and everyone, including Polokus, celebrates.
