Before the official announcement, [[Michel Ancel]] hinted at the project in an interview, noting that it would feature changes intended to make the game less frustrating than the original.<ref>''Retro Gamer'', issue 282 (February 2026), ''The evolution of Rayman'', « Even though it's complex, I think there's a kind of remake planned. The game was officially announced during Sony's State of Play on 12 February 2026, confirming the involvement of Digital Eclipse, a studio known for its archival compilations and purchased by Atari in 2023.

The compilation includes five emulated versions of the original game:

* ''[[Rayman Advance]]'' (Game Boy Advance version, 2001)

For the first time officially, the collection also includes the unreleased [[Rayman (cancelled prototype)|Super Nintendo prototype]] version of the game from 1992.

The collection includes the expansion packs originally released for the PC version of the game:
* 24 levels from ''[[Rayman Designer]]'', referred to in-game as "Rayman's New Levels."

The game includes a 60-second rewind feature and multiple save slots. Additionally, a menu allows players to toggle several cheats, though activating some of them disables achievements:
