The Musician is a character who appears only in Rayman and Rayman Activity Centre. He is of the same species as Rayman, and lives with his wife and child high in the Blue Mountains, where he spends his time playing on his guitar with his wife. He is a hippie, with curly brown hair held in a bandana and a brown beard, while his wife has long grey hair and wears green clothes.

In Mr Stone's Peaks, the Musician's guitar had been crushed under a rock. Rayman has to punch the rock a few times to carve a new guitar out of it. As a reward, the Musician gives him a bottle of blue and pink liquid which gives Rayman the Super Helicopter power. This allows him to actually fly with his Helicopter in certain levels.

In the background, the Musician's wife and child are visible. This is the only family of Rayman's species ever seen. Apart from the Musician's child, all members of Rayman's species that are encountered throughout the series are adults.

In Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, several Garden Raygnomes – garden gnomes which resemble Rayman's species – can be seen scatttered throughout the first phase of the Fairy Council. Some of the Garden Raygnomes have guitars and short beards, possibly as a reference to the Musician.

The Caves of Skops (French: Les Caves de Skops) is the fifth world in the original Rayman game. It consists of a gigantic cave system, which sprawls through the underground of the valley. Most of the caverns are filled with water, and the apparent absence of life gives the place an eerie atmosphere, as the sound of water dropping into pools is the only thing to disturb the deadly silence. Some of them are so dark that it is impossible to see anything without a firefly. Joe the Extra-Terrestrial's diner is located on a beach, in front of a subterranean lake. Rayman will have to punch the plug that turns on the diner lights, as well as a network of flying saucers, held with wires which make up Joe's electricity system. Strange platforms, rebounding hammers and abandoned treasures can also be found amongst stalactites and stalagmites. As Rayman reaches the depths of the caves, he starts finding lava balls, and even unstable lakes of lava, which can start rising because of tremors.
Note that in the Rayman Junior games, wooden palisades and dancing mushrooms of various colours can also be found.

The enemies in the Caves of Skops include antitoons, hunters, stone dogs, spiders and large-mouthed fish. The boss is Mr Skops, a giant scorpion. Rayman will meet him at the end of Mr Skops' Stalactites, and fight him after waking him up.

Once beaten, Rayman hears Betilla the Fairy calling for help.
About
There's not a whole lot to say about myself. I slip in an out of interest in Rayman, but when I do I have a strong adoration of Rayman 1 and its educational spinoffs. I'm not one of those nostalgic types, I just really like the worlds and characters for some reason. It's something I can't really explain. As for other Rayman games, I actually started out with Rayman 3 for GBA. My Mum just bought it for me one day with a bunch of other random cartridges on eBay and was like "Hey kid, play these". My next Rayman game was Rayman Advance which, oddly enough, I found bizarrely cheerful and creepy in its art style and characters in comparison to Rayman 3. But now look where I've ended up. Can science explain that?

I did end up playing Rayman 2 at some point in late 2013. I had owned the game for over a year if I recall correctly, but was unable to play it on my laptop until a kind fellow on the Rayman Pirate-Community forum offered me a patch that fixed the problem. I finished the game in about four days and never played it again. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, though, I just took an indefinite break after defeating mean ol' Razorbeard. I really should go back and try to get 100%. Anyway, back to Rayman 1. With THEdragon, it's always back to Rayman 1. The Musician is my favourite character. He doesn't do much and might probably be dead now maybe, but if THEdragon wasn't around to be a fan of the Musician, who would be? You?

I like to draw pictures of Rayman 1 characters. I believe I am fairly good at that now. I also like to write fanfictions about Rayman 1 characters, which I believe I am also fairly good at, but two thirds of mine are unfinished and a lot of them are actually pretty depressing. I also have an extensive list of Rayman 1 headcanons. Original Rayman did leave a lot unanswered, but that left plenty of space for headcanons. In my opinion, the educational spinoffs did expand on the ways of The Valley and its people significantly, which is something I like a lot.

Anyway, did I mention Rayman 1? Maybe. I probably love that game more on a creative level than on a gameplay level. I'm not even that great at it, really, I only completed it because I used the 99 lives cheat and some help from the incredibly useful Raywiki to find those cages. In fact, I didn't even play Rayman. Rayman played me. I wasn't freeing electoons, I was the collective population of electoons, waiting to once again become one with the Great Protoon, which was myself at a spiritual level. I had to rescue myself from Mr Dark. But Mr Dark did not exist, I was Mr Dark, stealing myself, but I did not exist. Anyway, you're probably wondering about the rest of my gaming history and what Rayman games and merchandise I own. I don't think that's entirely interesting for me to talk about. like I said, there's not a whole lot to say about myself.

Rayman CP is an educational game based on the original Rayman and a part of the Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire series. This game was released in 1999 for PC and MAC. It is only sold in France and Canada and available in the French language. The game was designed with a team of teachers and educationalists, in accordance with the official programmes of the Department of Education. Aimed for an audience of young children between six and seven years old, Rayman CP helps them in their first year at the primary school with an introduction to the reading and the calculus, creativity, music and English workshops and games that familiarize the player with the mouse and the keyboard. Some earlier editions of Rayman CP were bundled with an exclusive Rayman-branded computer mouse.

Gameplay
Rayman CP includes two CD-ROMs. The first one is consecrated to the reading, the English and the creativity. The second one is consecrated to the calculus, the music and the games.

On the screen title of each CD-ROM, Rayman, settled down in a hot-air balloon and proposes to the player to write his name with the keyboard or to select his name in the list if he wants to continue his game. 30 different names can be written. When we start a game, Rayman presents his friends to the player.

In the two CD-ROMs, the player arrives in an extraordinary town, with a street and a train station. Rayman and his friend the Clown present the place before letting the player continue alone. From the street, The player can access the educational activities by clicking on the objects, and the activities of creativity and relaxation by clicking on the train station.

At the bottom of the screen, there is a toolbar with numerous icons. With them, the player can listen again to the instructions of an activity, select the level of difficulty (Easy, Medium or Hard), validate an answer, reach the rewards screen or the results screen, go directly to the street or the train station and quit the game.

During the two CD-ROMs, the player is encouraged by Rayman and wins concrete, motivating and progressive rewards. When an activity is finished in a level of difficulty, the player sees Rayman perform a song and wins an object, which is added to the rewards board. When ten objects are collected, the player wins a screen saver. When each activity is finished in the same level of difficulty, the player wins a mini-game, accessible from the rewards screen. When an activity is finished in the three levels of difficulty, the player wins a printable game, accessible from the results screen. When a CD-ROM is finished, a mysterious sentence appears on the rewards screen. If the player sends the mysterious sentence of the two CD-ROMs with the form provided with the manual, he will receive a special gift at his house.

On the screen title of each CD-ROM, Rayman, settled down in a hot-air balloon, proposes to the player to write his name with the keyboard or to select his name in the list if he wants to continue his game. 30 different names can be written. When we start a game, Rayman presents his friends to the player.

In the two CD-ROMs, the player arrives in a extraordinary town, with a street and a train station. Rayman and his friend the Clown present the place before let the player continue alone. From the street, we can access to the educational activities by clicking on the objects and to the activities of creativity and relaxation by clicking on the train station.

When an activity is finished in a level of difficulty, the player sees Rayman perform a song and wins an object, which adds to the rewards board.

Another game of the Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire series released in 1999, Rayman Maternelle, uses the same gameplay and some characters and activities of Rayman CP.

In Rayman CP, we hear a lot of original musics composed by Daniel Masson. But there are some musics from the first Rayman game too. For example, we can hear the music of Betilla the Fairy and musics from Band Land and the Caves of Skops.
About THEdragon
I am a Rayman fan but mostly of Rayman 1 and the educational spinoffs. Those games had my favourite characters, like the Magician, the Muscician, Tarayzan and the amazingly English... Andrew...

My hobbies include drawing dumb pictures, listening to music backwards, walking in circles aimlessly and being overall useless.
