The Online Challenges are a variety of game modes that feature in Rayman Legends. As implied, these challenges require a connection to the internet in order to be accessed. On all versions, except the Playstation Vita version, the challenges go through the Uplay servers. On the Playstation Vita they however go through Playstation Network.

Overview

There are always four challenges that can be accessed at any time, the Daily Challenge and Daily Extreme Challenge, and the Weekly Challenge and Weekly Extreme Challenge. The Daily Challenges are changed daily, while the Weekly Challenges remain open for seven days before being changed. They always change on Mondays, except for the Playstation Vita version where thy change on Thursdays. The main difference between the normal and extreme versions is the goal requirement for timed challenges and that co-op is not allowed in extreme challenges.

Each challenge has a scoreboard, with scores being divided by cups. The cups from lowest to highest are Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond. The diamond cups are the rarest and are only given to the top 1% of the players of the specific challenge. The cup the player has when a challenge concludes determines the amount of points that goes toward the player's Level of Awesomeness. They also contribute Lums to the player's overall Lum count. While the challenges themselves remain the same on all versions, except the Playstation Vita version, the leaderboards are always platform specific.

The five areas Challenges take place in

Ghosts, similarly to ones from the Ghost Mode, can be toggled on or off, or only on for friends. When on, the game will display several ghost versions of other players runs in the challenge with their names displayed above. These can not be interacted with in any way. Gravestones, with the users names above, will also be shown at various places where they died within a challenge.

There are five different areas in which challenges can take place, each based off the rescue levels from the Main Gallery. Although each challenge is randomly generated, there can never be two in the same area or of the same type in the daily or weekly challenges. During early 2016, the Rayman community manager Ubi-Mya organized special challenges every Friday. These challenges combined aspect from several challenges into new ones, such as raising the distance for the Neverending Pit time challenges or having the player collect as many Lums as possible in other locations than the Dojo.

The Land of the Livid Dead

Distance

The distance challenges within the Land of the Livid Dead has the player running from left to right as far as possible. Common obstacles which appear are skulls Rayman can bounce off of, Darkroots, collapsing ground and Toads with parachutes. Once the player reaches slightly past 1000 meters, the skulls will be the mainly occurring obstacle.

Toads often appear near the beginning.

Darkroots appear often.

In the Playstation Vita version a part where the ground collapses is slightly harder due to it collapsing faster.

Timed distance

The timed distance challenges within the Land of the Livid Dead either has the player reaching 250 or 300 meters depending on if it's a normal or extreme challenge. The greatest advantage in these are either co-op boost glitching or break-boosting.

Timed Lum goal

The timed Lum collecting challenges within the Land of the Livid Dead either has the player grabbing 150 or 200 Lums depending on if it's a normal or extreme challenge. Tricks like break-boosting will have to be used more precisely in these so no purple Lum chains are missed.

The Neverending Pit

Distance

The distance challenges within the Neverending Pit has the player descending as far downwards as possibly. Darkroots are the main obstacle, as well as enemies, moving platforms and spiky platforms.

Timed distance

The timed distance challenges within the Neverending Pit either has the player reaching 250 or 300 meters depending on if it's a normal or extreme challenge. The trick here is to use the helicopter as few times as possible. Ground pounding or simply falling is needed for the lower times.

Timed Lum goal

The timed Lum collecting challenges within the Neverending Pit either has the player grabbing 150 or 200 Lums depending on if it's a normal or extreme challenge. The main trick here is to not grab every Lum if they're slow to grab.

The Infinite Tower

Distance

The distance challenges within the Infinite Tower has the player running and wall-jumping as high up as possible of a collapsing tower. The timing on the players jumps will get more and more important the further they get in the challenge as the difficulty rises.

Timed distance

The timed distance challenges within the Infinite Tower either has the player reaching 250 or 300 meters depending on if it's a normal or extreme challenge. Tricks here include ground pounding under a platform or obstacle to land on it, as the ground pound pushes the player slightly upwards before going down.

Murphy's Dungeon

Distance

The distance challenges within Murphy's Dungeon has the player running from left to right as far as possible while controlling Murfy. These challenges put most focus on having Murfy pull around platforms and kill enemies while the player navigates through other obstacles. In the Playstation Vita and Wii U versions the player can only control Murfy.

Timed Lum goal

The timed Lum collecting challenges within the Neverending Pit either has the player grabbing 150 or 200 Lums depending on if it's a normal or extreme challenge. In the Playstation Vita and Wii U versions the player can only control Murfy, but this leads the players being able to grab Lums in other ways, like by hitting bugs on the walls.

The Dojo

Lums

The Lum challenges within the Dojo has the player collecting as many Lums as possible. These challenges has the player navigate through rooms with Lums and spikes. As the player reaches around 700 Lums, the rooms will start having flying knives and fire added to the rooms.

Timed Lum goal

The timed Lum collecting challenges within the Dojo either has the player grabbing 200 or 300 Lums depending on if it's a normal or extreme challenge. Globox is recommended to use as his hit range is bigger. This can also allow him to hit through walls if done correctly.

Lums timed

The timed Lum challenges within the Dojo has the player collecting as many Lums within 60 seconds. Once again Globox is recommended to use as his hit range is bigger.
