But nothing more happened even like that. I don't know if both saves must be complete or not.

No, I meant the GBA detection in the GC emulator sorry.

Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Yeah, then you got to the point where I'm stuck. The thing is, this says you have to beat the game/break 60 cages in the GC version to unlock the minigames. That makes it sound more plausible that we actually need a complete savegame.
Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Exactly. I guess I have two options:
1 - Buying R3 for GBA this Xmas and testing it on my Wii.
2 - Fully playing the R3 for GC in the emulator and hoping for the best.

Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
so i wanna know whats the real name 2d nightmare or 2d madness?
Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
2D Nightmare. 2D Madness is the first minigame which you can play in all of the console versions.

Yeah I guess, but before you do anything I'm going to ask around on some forums to see if anyone has a save file for R3 on GC, that'd make things a lot easier.Haruka wrote:Exactly. I guess I have two options:

I'm sure there are a bunch of copies of that hanging around on eBay etc, I shouldn't think it's rare or anything.

Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
I'm confused. I know 2D Madness, and I've completed it like 30 times, but what was 2D Nightmare? I remember hearing about it but I never got it.

Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Drolpiraat, it seems that you know how to access text files within Rayman 3 – or at least those relating to the minigames. Would it be possible for you to access other Rayman 3 text files, like those nuggets of information that come up when you target an enemy and press the picture-taking button? I suspect there might be a few hidden or scrapped enemy or item descriptions buried somewhere in the game, like maybe some info on those little spiky fellas we meet in the Fairy Council and the Land of the Livid Dead.
Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Sure, here's a list of everything in the GC version's text:
*goes to do his exam now*
- Hoodstormer A particularly irritating airborne Hoodlum.
Fortunately, his awkward propellors prevent him
from walking.- Begoniax She transforms all the males who reject her
into toads. This is something she loves doing,
even if she sometimes admits she no longer knows
what to do with all her tadpoles.- Hoodboom The Hoodboom is a grenade launcher.
He's the only Hoodlum who can count up to 3.
These top-flight mathematicians also love writing
poetry. Their anthology, entitled
$Don't Take It Anti-Personnelly$, has sold more than
... well, more than 3 copies, that's for sure.- Snowman Not to be confused with a Hoodlum, even if
some of the latter have lots of dandruff.- Muddibog Despite what his name suggests, the Muddibog
isn't covered in mud. Avoid getting too close
to him. He'd kill his own father and mother
to lay hands on a roll of toilet paper.- Hoodoo The only Hoodlums capable of disappearing
without having a career in politics and stealing
from the state coffers.- Cage The Teensies are perfect gentlemen.
They shut themselves up in the cages just so
the Hoodlums won't have built them in vain.- Hoodmonger Private First Class An exceptional marksman.
There's no-one better to display a rifle.- Meadowscrew An old Meadowscrew with a wrinkly stalk.
- Ninja Crab The Ninja Crab dreams of being a tortoise.
Go and find out why.- Gong The Gong emits a sound like the frightened scream
of a helpless baby Glute.
The Knaarens, who're always keen to punish
the little ones, can't resist its call.- Slapdash The Slapdash is dumb beyond belief, even for
a Hoodlum. He never did understand that the
staff order to $gain the upper hand$ is a figurative
expression.- Switch A very handy binary tool. It can be used to do
just about anything, except - perhaps - turn
the lights down low. It's far too smart.
You need a dimmer switch to do that.- Stumbleboom Rather like a Hoodboom, but
head and shoulders above.- Lavomatrix The Hoodlums will do anything to swell their ranks,
and they don't think twice about recruiting
housewives under 50 years of age.
The Lavomatrix, a customized washing-machine, has
won the hearts of more than a few.- Master Kaag An exceptionally gifted baby Hoodlum who
transforms his toys into combat weapons.
Here, we can admire what he's done to the frame
of his swing. And while we're on the subject,
please keep well away from areas near sandpits.
The bomb disposal unit is still looking for five
explosive pacifiers and three Molotov baby bottles.- Grims Grim Keeper's titbit.
- Hoodmonger Officer A high-ranking officer who well deserves his status:
very few Hoodlums have received
so many decorations.- Nettles Your best friends if you need to grasp the nettle
and be stung into action!- Grim Keeper A former private tutor who was sacked for being
over-zealous. He joined the Hoodlums to practice
his favorite pastime on a large scale:
the negotiated delivery of titbits.- Piranha The Piranha is basically a pair of jaws with a bit
of flesh around it. It's the only fish that really
loves fishermen: not only do they sacrifice body
and soul to feed the piranhas - they also supply
the dental floss!- Podocrock A thinking mushroom. Stupid and nasty, therefore,
when it gets together with others in a group.- Porkibank The Porkibank is a considerate companion and is
always there when a Hoodlum needs him.
In exchange for his services, the Hoodlums give him
little gifts.- Door Very useful if you don't know what to put
around a lock.- Begoniax' Potion Begoniax' love potion. It can transform horrid
prince charmings into superb toads.- Zombie Chicken Terrorized by the wars against the robot pirates,
the hens laid dead eggs from which the ghoulish
Zombie Chickens emerged.- Plum Beware! The Plum is an extremely hallucinogenic
fruit. Don't pass one by without having a nibble.- Rat From infancy, the Rat was tortured by the
Knaarens. He's a melancholy soul and he just loves
it when folk remind him of his earliest days by
beating the hell out of him.- Garden Raygnome The Raygnome is a plaster art object. It is also
available as an escutcheon, a plum juice miniature,
a spoon handle, an ashtray and a shakeable
snowstorm souvenir.- Razoff A master predator, the son of Count Zaroff
- a most dangerous game-hunter, if ever there was
one! - and grandson of Nimrod and Artemis,
Razoff holds the chair of Cynegetics at the
University of Tyr-Kainkou. At least, that's what
he claims ...- Reflux Along with André, Reflux is the big baddy in the
game. So wait for the end, when they explain
their Machiavellian plot.- Heckler The Hoodlums have a gift for transforming
objects into terrifying weapons - here,
a seatless toilet.- Tortoise The tortoise is a venerable traveler and only dies
if it eats too many hash browns and has a little
accident in its shell.- Spinneroo Spinneroo is a paranoid prison guard who spins
round at breakneck speed to make sure no-one's
creeping up behind him.- Hoodmonger Soldier The Soldier is a ground-based Hoodlum who spends
all his time walking. An expert in camouflage,
he wears a purple outfit to hide his varicose veins.- Slobberpillar A slimy gooey caterpillar, covered in grease and
spittle. The Slobberpillar is ideal for kissing
if you have chapped lips.
Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
I still have my GameCube/GBA setup with finished Rayman 3 savefile (except for Mad Trax and Wheelis) and finished Rayman 3 GBA (with all 10 bonus levels cleared) over here. So if anybody has an idea and want me to try something, just ask!

Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Ah, great! It'd be awesome if you tried looking for a secret passage in 2D Madness in the Gamecube version, because I think they might have added a way into 2D Nightmare there.
Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
I'll try tomorrow, and I have some ideas where to look first. Let's try a far jump at the exit point and see where Rayman will die (or where he will find the secret passageDrolpiraat wrote:Ah, great! Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Thanks so much!
( good idea by the way )
In the meantime I'll try to unlock 2D Madness in my emulator and maybe take a look myself too.

Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Unusual jumps at the end of 2D Madness are fun anyways, as you can view the 'museum' from different angles if you land on different spots. That's why I thought of it as a good location where a secret passage could be hidden.Drolpiraat wrote:Thanks so much!( good idea by the way )

Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Thanks for that list. There’s a surprising amount of new information in there.Drolpiraat wrote:Sure, here's a list of everything in the GC version's text:
Another possible location for the secret passage leading to 2D Nightmare is the shooting gallery in the Hoodlum Headquarters. There are some inaccessible gems behind the wall there that aren’t in any other version, and I always wondered if there might be some sort of a connection between that room and 2D Nightmare (since they are both new exclusive additions to the GameCube version, and I figure those jewels must have been inserted for some reason).
Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
Podocrock? I've never seen it.
Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare
@Spiral: No problem. There seem to be some extra ones or at least different descriptions in the French text, so I'll post that too sometime.
That's also a good idea, Newray should try it out... or I could do it, but I'd need a full save file for the GC version then and nobody seems to have one.

... she... breeds with her victims?! Oh good God.Begoniax: She transforms all the males who reject her into toads. This is something she loves doing, even if she sometimes admits she no longer knows what to do with all her tadpoles.
Anyhow, this is really useful stuff, Droolie! I have R3GBA completed, but no GC version, or a GC for that matter. Oh, the impracticalities.
