Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 Controller Support Fix Guide

This guide is intended to fix the Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 controller support.


Rayman 2

– Download the Rayman2InputFix_v1 zip here : https://code.google.com/p/noser-sandbox/downloads/list
– Unzip it and place it in the Rayman 2 installation folder.
– The A and X buttons can't be remapped. The Y and B buttons control the camera and can't be remapped either, but I assigned them to the right analog stick nonetheless, it feels better. Just don't use the Y and B buttons.

Rayman 3

Thanks to RibShark and his mod "Better Rayman 3", almost every issue was fixed.

– The right analog stick still doesn’t work though.
I mapped the mouse movements to the analog stick with Xpadder to be able to move the camera. It isn't perfect, but the native camera on consoles as well as PC wasn't either. The camera motion will be a bit choppy when moving diagonally. I've found that on a 2560x1440 monitor, 3000 DPI matches the original camera speed pretty well.
– These are the Rayman 3 binding to enter in the in-game menu for the Xbox One / Xbox 360 controller :

Menu = Start
Jump = A
Roll = Left Trigger
Strafe = Right Trigger
Fire = X
Look Mode = Y
Grimace = B
Screenshot = Right D-Pad
Walk = Shift
Up = Up Keyboard Arrow
Down = Down Keyboard Arrow
Right = Right Keyboard Arrow
Left = Left Keyboard Arrow

Xpadder Tutorial

– You will need the program Xpadder to bind some keyboard inputs to your controller.

– Place the Xpadder folder somewhere on your computer.
– There is an image of an XBOX One controller inside, but you can download an image of your controller here : http://xpadder.com/forum4/viewforum.php?f=144
– Right click on Xpadder > Properties > Compatibility > check "Run this program as an administrator" > OK.
– Open Xpadder > Next > Next > Next > Next > Next > Program Location > Associate.
– Your controller must be turned on.
– Leave Xpadder open while in game for it to take work.

I just reinstalled Rayman 3 to see if I have the same issue as you describe. I can’t launch it
I did a clean install of Windows 10 a couple of months ago. Keep asking me that DirectX 8.1 needs to be installed. As soon as I can launch the game I’ll get back to you
What is the issue exactly ? When I played it under Windows 8.1 around July it was fine.

I have the same issue on my keyboard.

I stuck with 8.1 for the time being. Rayman will run at full speed when the analog stick is fully tilted forward, left, right and back. But, he only walks when it's fully tilted in diagonal directions. It doesn't sound like much, I know. But the effect in-game isn't optimal and it drives me nuts.

Perhaps it might be easier to demonstrate the problem if I made a recording? I won't be able to until the evening, mind you.

Oh I get it, thus means we have different issues.
What controller are you using ? Xbox ?

You should use an Xbox controller, DS controllers are not working well on Windows.

I had a vaguely similar issue with my keyboard where I couldn't run in one of the diagonal directions (can't remember which) while charging my fist.

I managed to get the game to run and I don't have any issues with control. I'm using an Xbox One controller.

Hmm, it worked fine when I used a DS3 controller, but it's being odd with the DS4 controller. From what I've read, the DS4 sticks work differently to the DS3 sticks, I might have to muck about with the calibration settings, I guess.

Mine does that too, but I suspect that's a hardware issue, like ghosting.

I fixed it before on the DS4, but it is complicated. You need to install a program named DXTweak2, then change the min and max values for all of the analog sticks to 18 and 237 respectively.

I was able to stumble on a different solution, I switched to InputWrapper from DS4Windows, and was able to increase stick sensitivity for the sticks to 110%. It seems to have fixed the problem. It's a pity I wasn't aware of InputWrapper sooner, as I know I've been a little whiny about this issue.

The Windows 7/8.1 driver trick for Rayman 2 no longer worked somewhere along the lifetime of Windows 10 Threshold 2.
In Windows 10 Redstone however, the original issue has been fixed, I just tested it.

I've updated the original post with additional information, the current situation of the controller support for those 2 games in the latest version of Windows 10, as well the download link with the tweaked profile for Rayman 3 and a couple other things.
