Riddles of the Glade - Intermission

Post by Ray502 »

Welcome to Riddles of the Glade!

Riddles of the Glade is a Rayman contest where competitors compete to win the most points by answering riddles about the Rayman series!

How does the game work?

The game consists of a cluegiver, who gives the competitors a riddle referencing a character/object/place from the Rayman series, along with clues to help competitors solve the riddle. The first competitor to answer correctly will become the new cluegiver and give out a new riddle and clue. The round will continue until a new season for The Teensies Quiz Quest begins, at which point the round will end and rewards will be given out.

How many clues for a riddle can be given?

A maximum of 7 clues can be given for each riddle, after which, if no one has given a correct answer, the current riddle must be scrapped and the cluegiver must give a new one. You can only give out 1 clue at a time though, with a limit of 3 clues per day for each riddle.

Can I skip an offer to give a riddle?

Yes, you can skip an offer to give a riddle, and an available staff member will give out the riddle instead. However, you will not be able to answer for this riddle and must wait until a new one is given.

What are the rules for the contest?

Listed below are the rules that have to be followed. Failure to follow these rules will result in punishments.
  • When you become the cluegiver, make sure to include what number riddle the game is on each time while giving your clues: This is a general format of how the first clue of a riddle should look, with each additional clue added below them after enough time has passed and competitors have made their guesses:

    Code: Select all

    Riddle #4
    Clue 1:

  • If you're the cluegiver, you must give at least 1 clue within 3 days of the previous one. Failure to do so will result in the riddle becoming lost and an available staff member will give a new riddle. A warning will be given the first time, while subsequent times with the same cluegiver will also force them to skip the new riddle.
  • When someone makes a guess, the cluegiver must respond to the guess within 48 hours, otherwise the riddle will be tossed out and the most recent person to guess can give a new riddle. A warning will be given the first time, while subsequent times with the same cluegiver will also give a point to the person, and the cluegiver will have to skip the new riddle.
  • If you answer incorrectly for a riddle, you must wait until either the next riddle is given, or the next clue for the current riddle if the correct answer has not been given yet.
  • When you are giving a riddle/clue, make sure it's both descriptive and easy to understand.
  • Looking up the answer on RayWiki or any similar sources is discouraged, as that is considering cheating and takes the fun out of the game for those who may already know the answer.
What is the reward system for this contest?

At the end of each round, rewards will be handed out to competitors based on their placements on the board, as follows:

Code: Select all

1st place -> 4000 Tings
2nd place -> 2000 Tings
3rd place -> 1000 Tings
Consolation -> 500 Tings
Winners also have the opportunity to begin the next round after a break. It will be up to the discretion of the winners to decide who starts the next round. Otherwise, an available staff member will begin the round.

What happens if there is a tie?

If there's a tie between 2 or more competitors for any of the top 3 placements, a tiebreaker can be given. However, at least 2 competitors must consent within a week for the tiebreaker to take place and must remain active (at most, 5 days between posts; any longer will result in a forfeit and no bonus will be given). Anyone can volunteer to host as long as they are not competing, otherwise an available staff member will host by default. The tiebreaker consists of a sudden death round using the same format as above. Score 3 points before your rival competitors to win!

Competitors also receive bonus prizes for being in a tiebreaker (no these are not cumulative). How you place determines your bonus below:

Code: Select all

Winner -> 50% added to total Tings
Scored at least 1 point -> 25% added to total Tings
Participation -> 10% added to total Tings
Note: You must remain active throughout the entire tiebreaker to receive the prizes.
Winners of a first place tiebreaker will have priority over their competitors for starting the next round.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions! Have fun solving the mysteries of the riddles!

Round 1 (Ends Aug 18, 2017)

Clue #1: This area replaced another area as a hub level in a remake of a Rayman game.

RibShark got the one I was looking for! The Dreamcast version is not known as a remake of Rayman 2, just a different version. The iOS and 3DS versions are also debatable.

Now RibShark, you can now ask a new clue of your own.

Clue #2: This level contains the only Teensie in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc that, when freed, will give different items based on the previous actions of the player during the level.

Yes! It's used by Space Pirates in Picture City and Rayman in Candy Château! But the latter not in the Jaguar version…

Hmm, looks like RibShark is not available at this time. I'll go ahead and ask a clue.

Clue #5: This item has a similar function to the life statues in a certain game.
