Hello and welcome to The Teensies' General Knowledge Quiz! As the name suggests, this is a quiz in which players are asked a series of general-knowledge/trivia questions. Everyone is encouraged to participate so please do not hesitate to contribute. There is no introductory process, so just join in the fun and post! (Special thanks to boomboleros7 and Harpic fraîcheur whose French version of this topic was the original inspiration for this.)


So what's the aim of the game?

The objective is simply to answer ten questions correctly before any other user. The questions will generally be challenging yet achievable, but no forfeits are owed for incorrect answers. Once ten questions have been successfully answered, the winner will receive 500 Tings and will be offered the ability to host the following season.

9 points - 5000 Tings
8 points - 3000 Tings
7 points - 2000 Tings
6 points - 1600 Tings
5 points - 1300 Tings
4 points - 700 Tings
3 points - 400 Tings
2 points - 200 Tings
1 point - 100 Tings

Are there any rules?

Unfortunately, so as to maintain some level of orderliness, a few rules have been devised to prevent cheating and generally uphold the stability of the quiz. They are as follows:

............................. One answer per question, per user, unless otherwise instructed by the quizmaster

............................. No editing of answers under any circumstances. Edited posts are logged, so beware.

............................. Participants must not criticise the quizmaster in any way during seasons

............................. Remain on-topic for the duration of the quiz.

............................. While we cannot prevent people from looking up the answers online, you are encouraged to answer honestly, from what you happen to know yourself.

In the interest of fairness, an additional rule is that players are only permitted to answer two questions correctly in succession. Once two have been answered correctly, the player must then skip the following question. He will be able to rejoin after this. Alternatively, the player can choose to skip 1 question if he answers the preceding question correctly. Why was this rule devised? Simply to prevent victors from winning through activity alone. This rule is sometimes quite difficult to follow so please ask the quizmaster for assistance if you are confused.

Failure to comply with any one of these rules will result in severe punishment, up to and including expulsion from the quiz!


Hosting Seasons

So, you've accumulated ten correct answers and are now faced with the prospect of hosting the following season. What are your options? You can either choose to accept ownership of the following season or reject the invitation. Should you reject, the English Administrator PluMGMK will host the next quiz by default. If you accept, you must comply with the following hosting rules:

............................. The time period between the end of the previous season and the start of the new one must be reasonable. In particular, it must not be shorter than two weeks. It also shouldn't be unreasonably long. Please try to state your intended start date in advance.

............................. There is to be a maximum of five questions asked per day. Submission of new questions will be spread out across the day and not given consecutively.

............................. Ensure your questions are easy to comprehend. Good spelling and grammar is paramount!

............................. Questions must be easy to understand (both grammatically and typographically).

............................. Be as specific as possible when asking questions, it's important not to put contestants at a disadvantage due to alternate interpretations.

............................. Complete the season - host until one player reaches ten points.


Bonus Questions

Bonus Questions will be asked from time to time. A season must have one bonus question minimum, and two maximum. These questions will be harder than standard questions but will come with a small reward. Naturally correctly answering a bonus question will not alter your position on the current leaderboard.

Question 5: How many black keys are there on a standard modern 88 key piano?

I think you may have made a slight error in your counting…

Yeah, I knew that was wrong. What I did NOT realize when I was counting the number of black keys, was that there were 89 keys on my piano, and not 88.

This is what i get for blatantly counting too fast. I bet that there's only 88 and I came up with that number out of nowhere.
