That's a good point.

It could be seen as quite vicious commercial practices considering Liberation see their readers as potential buyers. This is probably an attempt to encourage the readers' desire for more juicy information.

In my opinion the real Rayman ended after Rayman 2 (therefore exactly 18 years ago if we want to consider the latest release on Game Boy Color) so I could say that he became aware that it was better to retire and follow more consistent choices rather than continue to slaughter his creature, finally!
Better this way, than seeing nonsense of which, beyond my point of view, he himself has repeatedly declared himself dissatisfied.
Whether like to admit it or not, no one title in the series after the original Rayman 2 has been able to come even remotely close to the emotionality and artistry of the first two games, therefore it's better to close rather than flounder. I don't think Ubisoft has any intention to focusing its efforts on Rayman anymore, so Rayman has come to an end after a long 18-year agony.
I wish only the best to this Great Artist and to reconcile himself more and more with himself. A hug.
I would personally consider Rayman 3 as the last Rayman game. As I said earlier, Ancel gave up on Rayman in 1999 and/or 2005, but even though he wasn't a fan of Rayman 3, I still think that game is the proof that the series can live on without him.
Сым wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 8:55 am I won't believe in it as long as I don't see evidence. Testimonies can still be false or exaggerated.
Indeed, Libération are eminently political and their stance on the subject is far from neutral.

This is indeed quite ridiculous! Not that a few lunatics are going to stop me from buying whatever I want, though.

He doesn't seem to have posted anything about it, I expect the situation to just die down, in the apparent absence of any evidence to back the accusations.

Wait, he didnt like rayman 3? How so? I thought he said it was good, did he change his mind?

And personaly, i dont think he ever gave up on rayman, just could never get a game that he truly wanted to make after a while

I think it was related to his expectation not being met or something like that, even if he hadn't a negative opinion on R3. I may be wrong.
From here: https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/Michel_Anc ... ing_career
"Ancel was also heavily involved in the development of Rayman 2: The Great Escape in 1999, but had only an advisory role on Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Although he praised its development team, he says that the game is "a bit too concrete for my tastes", and that he "would have made the game differently"."

Well, Rayman 3 used to use mechanics from 2 at first, maybe Michel actually worked on it for a while before leaving it to the team? Now I wonder how the game could have been if he was in charge, it'd been slightly darker, that's for sure.

I really like Rayman 3, just curious how Michel's vision of this game could have been like.

I don't know if it's a given that it would have been darker. It's been said (in L'histoire de Rayman) that Rayman 2 was darker and edgier than its predecessor in order to differentiate it from its goofy sibling, Tonic Trouble. So if it wasn't for Tonic Trouble, Rayman 2 could've been lighter.

You'd have to be riding the biggest moral high horse of your life to say buying a game = bad human, I agree. However, I think it's necessary, yes, in 2020, for us to take the tiniest amount more responsibility for what we do, and there have been cases where I've supported specific game boycotts for the sake of making shareholders oust the abusive staff.

That's just because some people are extremely judgemental, even to the stage where others will try judge a person they don't even know. Unfortunately, SJWs are a thing, and it's impossible to realise what they're aiming to achieve.

They want moral superiorety

They dont care about anything but themself and their own selfish desiers

It genuently hurts the gaming industry that these people actualy have some sort of power there

It might make you feel terrible knowing that buying the game you want could upset a random person you don't know.

People with high moralities are pretty dumb and prone to have double standards. Saying for experience with few.
Heck, I knew someone who didn't condone violence irl, but thought it was ok to emotionally abuse me for their own sick gains and self entertainment. :\

But yeah, I saw this kind of mentality with a game I followed the development of years ago, but the reason of their boycott attempt was because "devs increased the supposed-to-be-indie game price, therefore they're greedy an you buying from them support capitalism", mostly because of the devs' choice to partner with a publisher that gained bad reputation due to its software counterpart ruining few games (if you heard about Gearbox, you'll probably know what I'm talking about).
The same mentality is being applied to cartoons, movies and even music.

People saying to do not support Ubisoft because of the abuse allegations regarding senior menbers forget that there are (presumably) good people who worked on the games who have nothing to do with all that drama. The fact that sheep-minded twitter mobs dragged Michel in said abuse allegations without even informing from both parts to have a better idea of the situation is so sad.

Exactly.
If they don't like most of the internet base they find "problematic", the f#[k they're on it to begin with.

The thing with those people also is, if a creator does implement the changes they want, they wont buy the game to beginn with

The will still complain about "how it is handled wrong" or some shit

Perfect example is P5R
In the original theres a scene with 2 gay dude hitting on a character jokingly (japanese humor is like tvat)

In R, it got toned down due to complaints, and they STILL say its "problematic" when it fucking isnt
(Note that 99% of the complainers arent even gay/lesbian etc)

We're talking about boycotting as a means to combat abusive working conditions... not because you didn't like something in the game itself.
