Re: Rayman 3
Very nice work! Indeed, SBTC2 feels particularly mysterious based on what you've observed. I wonder if they were thinking of doing something like BOM1, where the level state is changed fundamentally when you pass a certain point. Anyway, at least you seem to have solved the mystery of that stupid three-headed snowman!

Re: Rayman 3
Really interesting video! I'm always impressed by how much stuff was left out of bounds in Rayman 3 levels.
Re: Rayman 3
Thanks!
It'd actually be quite nice to have the additional gems in SBTC2 available. I wonder whether there is a way to make them spawn...
Regarding the red Lum in TOTL1 that is partially inside a wall: It might not be apparent in the video, but, if you approach the Lum the intended way, i.e. from the room with the 4 Hecklers, it won't be there (or will despawn). Similarily, if you approach it from above, the Lum disappears, as shown in the video. The Lum only spawns, if you approach it from the other direction, i.e. from the room with the boxes in the lava. I don't really understand the reason for that, but maybe something similar is happening in SBTC2?!

Was playing the Rayman 3 PS2 prototype again and while glitching myself to the ladder, (without triggering the cutscene) I was able to see the ship from a better view.
While using the photo mode for the prototype, (via right D-pad button) I've noticed how the ship is the beta one from an old Rayman 3 picture. Not sure how old the official Rayman 3 picture was, but to me, it looks like one of the earliest pictures for Rayman 3 shown online.

Re: Rayman 3
Doesn't sound like this behavior was ever intended, maybe it just explains why they never noticed the Lum during testing and forgot to remove it.1234 wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 7:36 pm Regarding the red Lum in TOTL1 that is partially inside a wall: It might not be apparent in the video, but, if you approach the Lum the intended way, i.e. from the room with the 4 Hecklers, it won't be there (or will despawn). It's actually the first time I've seen pictures from this prototype, I had no idea it was that different from the final game. What does it contain exactly?Ebray wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 1:29 am Was playing the Rayman 3 PS2 prototype again and while glitching myself to the ladder, (without triggering the cutscene) I was able to see the ship from a better view.
Re: Rayman 3
There are not many differences in this version, apart from the sounds, the music and the absence of the secret passage with the statue of Ly in The Longest Shortcut. The other levels are the first part of The Fairy Council, the third part of the Clearleaf Forest, the first Teensie Highway, the third part of The Land of the Living Dead and the third part of the Tower of the Leptys.

Re: Rayman 3
Thanks for the share! Why do the textures look so different in the first screenshot, though?
Re: Rayman 3
Are you talking about Ebray's screenshot? That's because I disabled the light effects on Raymap because they were too dark. But the textures are exactly the same

Re: Rayman 3
Yep, that's what I meant! Didn't realize the lighting alone could make such a difference.

Re: Rayman 3
Lighting is also the reason that the Cave of Bad Dreams looks blue and the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire looks orange, despite using the same wall textures. Droolie talked about the quirks of the lighting system before: viewtopic.php?p=1425907#p1425907

Re: Rayman 3
I never even realized those were the same textures, though I'll admit attention to detail is not my forte.
Re: Rayman 3
Yup, this prototype contains some leftover features.Ebray wrote: Mon Nov 30, 2020 3:00 am Playing the Rayman 3 prototype for PS2 (I played the game via FreeMCBoot on a real PS2, so this is why the quality sucks, I apologize for that) and while pressing and holding R1, R2, L1 and L2 down, along with pressing start (not releasing the L and R buttons while pressing start and being in the menu) and pressing cross to return back to the game, you get these strange texts.
So debug stuff I guess?
Doing one of these texts gets me another Rayman attached to Murfy and Rayman.
Did anybody noticed this before? Haven't checked every text out yet, so yeah one function gave me first person view and with the other one I could look around the environment for a bit.
Oh and here are all of these texts:
https://sta.sh/2a37aqexvjh?edit=1
If someone could translate these please, this would be amazing.
Actually, you don't have to hold all these keys to get these messages. It seems that the holding pattern looks like this: R2 + (any additional key) + Start.
But I find it easier to go to the photo mode (Dpad right), hold Start, and then press R2. This way the level menu doesn't pop up.
There may be more debug sequences.
At least, I know about the extra three:
- pressing Circle in photo mode (dpad right) activates the E3 leftover menu,
- The intro level; holding together: R1 + Dpad-right + Start, causes Murfy to stop flying
- The tower level; holding R1 + Start, then returning to the game (still holding R1) displays "Salle 01" message.
By holding R1 and then pressing Dpad up or down that number can be changed (up to 2).
These things seem to correspond to what have been left in the gamecub version.
Never realized that, nice find.Ebray wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 1:29 am Was playing the Rayman 3 PS2 prototype again and while glitching myself to the ladder, (without triggering the cutscene) I was able to see the ship from a better view.

Great work, thanks for sharing.1234 wrote: Sun Dec 06, 2020 3:32 am Recently I used Raymap to somewhat systematically find all the interactable objects (gems, red Lums etc) that the devs forgot to remove or accidentally put somewhere out of bounds. Since I thought some of you might also be interested in this, I've put all the findings together in one video which you can see here:

Btw, since Adobe Flash Player is near its EOL, I assume some of the content from the Wayback Machine will be even more difficult to access? Sorry, I don't know much about this.

Re: Rayman 3
I think Ruffle might help here. I starting testing it with the Rayman Flash games it appears to at least partly work, though I'll have to resume work on this when I have more time.
The project is still in its early stages, but as it matures I think it could be used by the Wayback Machine to display Flash content.

This reminds me of that cool map that I remember seeing on an old Rayman 3 website, a shame that it's lost now.

Aaah I think this was the holiday prize that was one of the top prizes but you had to be over 18 to enter that one and even back then I was too young, maybe about 15 or 16 so yeah not a chance there.

Re: Rayman 3
Hey guys,
i posted this over on the Rayman Merchandise thread, but since it's R3 related, i thought i'd share here. Found at the Computerspielmuseum, (literally translates to Computer Games Museum) in Berlin, Germany. The Rayman 3 Leptys statue! it was so awesome to see in person after years of reading about it and seeing it referenced on this site and in general media.
Anyone else been to this museum before? Anyone know how long they've had the statue? I never thought to ask! I owned the Rayman 3 magazine, the drawstring bag and a plush black lum, but unfortunately, the magazine and lum are lost. But i still have the drawstring bag! If you can't tell, I love Rayman 3.
this was in 2019, before covid fluffed us up, so don't worry, i'm not travelling right now! just thought i'd contribute.

Sorry if I'm out of the loop but umm, is this a known thing? It says: "The teensies are perfect gentleman. They lock themselves into cages out of politeness, so that the Hoodlums didn't build them for nothing."
