Interestingly enough, you're not the only one, which is rather interesting as the N64 model is simply a downgraded version of the original one. But I guess this is enough to make a difference!

Anyway, that being the case, I don't see anything at all that would place conditions on Eig's appearance. So are we sure he doesn't just always appear?
I have always seen Eig there, I am pretty sure he will always appear.

Actually every time I've played on Dreamcast, I'm pretty sure I've always see him. I never really paid attention to the fact that the article says he's only there sometimes.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. I get the feeling that the wiki only says that because of that one video where Saestrol appeared surprised (via YouTube annotations, which I believe don't exist anymore) when Eig appeared. I think I'll just remove that from the wiki since there's no corroborating evidence.

I agree that this should be removed, as there's currently no reason to believe he doesn't always appear. Thanks everyone who helped look into this!

I removed the info and rephrased the paragraph a bit in the English version:
https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/Eig

Prior to doing that, I've played the relevant part in both rips of the game that I have (the EU one and the US one) - 5 times each, and sure enough - Eig appeared every time.

Thanks for that! Looks like the French version didn't make that claim anyway, so my work is done here! 🖖

Now we just have to figure out whether the sparks are intentional or caused by a bug. In Raymap it looks like there's a bespoke function to generate them, with no name specified. :fou2:

True, but the Polish version did. Fortunately it was written in a way that I managed to easily remove it without knowing Polish, using only an auto-translator for verification. :D

Thanks for editing both articles! By the way, I find that even a very basic knowledge of Russian is helpful to understand Polish, so I guess it should be much easier for you, provided you know what the various digraphs and diacritics correspond to. Easier doesn't mean easy though, both languages are obviously very far from being mutually intelligible.

Anyway, PluM raises a good point regarding the sparkles that are described at length in the wiki article. Surely that sounds like a lot of work for something that will be noticed by, well, almost no player at all? :fou2:

And on a side note:

I noticed Rayman’s body got a strange tendency to change its shape in Rayman 2 when moving… So I took these glorious screenshots of Rayman turning into an actual eggplant :noel:

Btw, does anyone know if the Rayman animations from this website have been archived in the wiki, YouTube or somewhere else?

Oh yeah! They have! You could find them on Haruka's YT channel but I think she actually made all of her videos private, I still have it on an old laptop! It lasts like 5 seconds and doesn't have any audii but still it's fascinating

That looks pretty cool, I never noticed that before! Does it only happen when jumping or also when running?

RayCarrot and I are working on a RayWiki YouTube channel to archive such content (including a bunch of Haruka's videos) so we're more than happy to host them there. :D

I only noticed that accidentally while Rayman was jumping when I was taking screenshots for my videos’ thumbnails of the PC version, so I don’t really know about running. But if it really does anything, it’s probably too insignificant to be noticeable, while there’s this clear weird animation when Rayman is starting to jump. I also remember noticing something similar when jumping in Rayman 3D as Rayman’s torso seemed to inflate ( :hap:) or deflate a little bit.
It sure gave me a very good laugh when I saw that for the first time.

Have these alternative dialogue boxes ever sprung up before?

Haven't seen those before! They seem authentic all right… Where did they come from?

I've seen the pre-release word "Smallbeings" before (I think it was also spelled "Smallbeeings" – it's a direct calque of "Ptizêtres") but never in-game.

Were they really going to use the "Big Nose" nickname in Rayman 2? I guess they might put it in cold storage when they decided to make the game more serious (in opposition to Tonic Trouble) and then dug it out again for the lighter Rayman 3!

OH whoah that's actually great! Glad to see most of the stuff will be back I was actually worried :)
EDIT: Oh also I remember the teensies being called smallbeings! I 99% saw it on some promotional site/magazine or line of code.

They come from an old N64 magazine so defo official. I saved the images and cropped them. Even I have never seen these Great Escape versions before. Possible prototype dialogue before it changed?
Note the Mario reference used? XD

The "I'm a Murfy"? I think that's just because originally Murfys were going to be a type of creature, rather than a single character. In fact, that is still the case in the PS1 version, which seemed to work from an earlier version of the game's concepts in general.
