Over the last few days most of you may have noticed some unusual activity on the forums by a spambot posting ads for dating sites. As the bot has been posting with active and former active accounts, we suspect that the bot is exploiting leaked credentials from other sites. Because of this, I'd like to briefly mention some things that members can and should do to keep our accounts on this forum (and indeed on other sites) safe and secure.
While it is important to use a long and difficult-to-guess password, what is even more important is to avoid using the same password here as on other sites. Here at RaymanPC, we do our utmost to ensure the security of our users' credentials, but if your password is compromised on another site, there is nothing we can do to stop bad actors from trying the same password here to gain access to your RPC account.
To avoid reusing passwords across multiple sites, you can use a password manager which generates a random sequence of characters for every site you use, and stores them all securely on your own device. For example, the Firefox browser now has this functionality built-in, or you can use an application like KeePass.
If you're worried that your credentials or other information may have been compromised on any site that you use, you can go to https://haveibeenpwned.com and check your email address and password. If your password turns up in their database, then you should change it immediately, here and anywhere else you use it, again following the guidelines mentioned above.
So, in summary:
We're sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and co-operation!
