I've read through all the messages in this thread, and I've seen nothing but (completely warranted) bafflement and negativity. I'd like to try and cut through that and provide a more positive take on the news.
Now don't hear me wrong; I'm just as baffled as all of you are that Ubisoft is remaking a game already playable on literally every platform rather than one that people were actually asking for. However, let's look at the big picture here: if the leaks are to be believed, the developers at Ubisoft seem to be putting their backs into a console Rayman game for the first time in nearly 13 years! If nothing else, that ought to be reason for a small celebration, right?
In my mind, just because a game doesn't need to be made doesn't always mean that it's a bad thing that it was. Just look at the upcoming Star Fox remake coming out for Switch 2! Sure, the game being Star Fox 64 again was not received well at first, and the redesigns might not go over well for everyone (I have mixed feelings on them myself), but the game looks well-made enough that I'd assume reception to it has grown more positive since the reveal. And this, need I remind you, is a game that can already be played on the Switch 2 via NSO!
If, and this is a big
IF for Ubisoft, the developers can add enough new content and upgrades to the existing game to make it feel worthwhile, I don't see why this is so bad. And who knows; maybe the devs getting back into the Rayman groove will spur them to make a new game down the line?
Personally, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about it until we get more details during the State of Play on June 2nd, which is where leakers say it will be revealed. Hopefully the rest of you guys can keep an open mind about it as well.
Don't get me wrong, the logo looks really clean and well-designed, but it doesn't actually feel like "Rayman" to me at all. It honestly gives off major Spyro vibes instead. If you showed me that design without the name on it, my first thought would definitely be a new Spyro game rather than anything to do with our favorite limbless hero.
Agreed; though to be fair, almost every mainline Rayman game has come with a new logo design, so I guess it's not that out of character.
The 3D sections will be dragon rides.

See, there's already some new stuff they're adding! Thanks for the info, Na- sorry, NOT Nate!
