Which Rayman level took you the longest to beat?

Post by eliradelorca »

Hi everyone,

I'm Elira, and after replaying a few Rayman games recently, I started thinking about the levels that gave me the most trouble. For me, some of the later stages in Rayman Origins took dozens of attempts because of the precise timing and fast-paced platforming. It was frustrating at times, but finally finishing them felt incredibly satisfying. Looking back, every Rayman game seems to have at least one level that really tests your patience and skill. Sometimes it isn't even the final level—just one section that somehow takes much longer than everything else.

I mean the obvious pick would be the Sanct. of Stone and fire, but that's expected - the level was designed long! The most trouble though I think I had was Infiltration Station Invaded (RL). I think I had to watch a speedrun of that to even beat it! Either that or Shoot for the stars from RO (I was 100%ing the game, the medal is hell to get (Haruka knows a lot about this one as well)).

This one took me some time too.

I can't really name a level in particular, but I remember the first game to be the hardest for me. Some of the original Designer levels were very hard too. I can't compare them to the fans' levels being incredibly harder though, and I don't mean the "Levels by fans" game. :P

I think mine was... the Swamps of Forgetfulness! Not that I spent so much time trying to beat it, but I remember being stuck there and only coming back to the original game after beating Rayman Junior, which must have taken me some time.

Riding the Storm is awful to perfect it in solo as the level designers gave a very, very small margin for error to players. Not exploding a flying bomb could be enough to miss the Lums Medal given how many things the character must avoid in the sky in order to survive! I'm now expecting they're making it easier now with the new QoL features of the Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition. Despite of my struggles back in 2011, I don't think it was the level that took me the longest to clear.

I'm almost sure that it might have been any of the Picture City levels but I can't precise that: it's been over 20 years since I cleared Rayman 1 for the first time and on DOS which has the toughest cage locations!
