I should know, I have both Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit to compare with. Rayman 2 works just fine with Vista 32-bit (if you install the no CD patch as well); however, you did say Windows 7 64-bit, so that is actually a no-go.
Either get 32-bit (if possible) or just illegally download Rayman 2 somewhere.

Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
How did you create the patch? And does it work for Windows 7 or only Vista?

This is an alternate link to the patch everyone knows. I like it because it shows how the RZ forum used to look.

Wait what?
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
I can play Rayman 2 on my second computer (Laptop with Windows 7) but it appears the CD glitch of the Henchman 800 head on the Sanctuary of Fire and Stone.
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
Well, then use the patchI can play Rayman 2 on my second computer (Laptop with Windows 7) but it appears the CD glitch of the Henchman 800 head on the Sanctuary of Fire and Stone
I think I remember not being able to use this patch in Windows Vista when i finally got Rayman 2 running on it and me having to use a no-cd crack to get the pirate head glitch in the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire away. So if the patch doesn't work, try that approach. And I believe a no-cd crack is legal if you have purchased the game or any other legal way of getting it.
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
Well I actually tried to solve the Henchman head problem with the patch before, but nothing changed. I still must find a no-cd crack.

Browse trough the results on this page and see if you can find something.Haruka wrote:I still must find a no-cd crack.
This is the first result, which appears to will provide you with an replacement for the original Rayman2.exe file on which a no-CD crack was applied.
Warning: I'm always a bit suspicious about sites that provide cracks and things like that, so I would recommend you to scan any file you might download for this goal ( including the one I linked to above ) with an up to date virus scanner.
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
Soon or later I'll see this link, but don't worry, I also am suspicious with those kind of websites, that's why I always use my antivirus to scan suspicious files before opening them and having it always turned on when browsing on the internet.

Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
It's the x64-ness that's the problem, not Windows 7.
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
I downloaded and scanned it, and my Antivirus didn't complain so I think it's a safe file. I will test it on my notebook that has got Windows 7 and see if it works.Joshua822 wrote:Browse trough the results on this page and see if you can find something.Haruka wrote:I still must find a no-cd crack.

Raymale please don't quote from really old posts unless you really need to.
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
Well, here's a bit of good news for people wishing to play Rayman 2 on a modern computer:
According to these test results, Rayman 2 now runs good inside Wine ( which is a Windows-emulation layer for GNU\Linux distributions like Ubuntu ( and other operating systems ) ).
So if you want to play Rayman 2 on a modern computer you can install Ubuntu next to Windows ( don't worry, Ubuntu doesn't need a lot of space on your hard drive, a 10 GB partition will do ) on your computer, then install Wine on it, and then install and play Rayman 2 inside Wine.
(You can also try installing Ubuntu for this goal inside Virtualbox or another PC-emulation software, but I don't have experience with that)

Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
"Wine Is Not an Emulator". That's the recursive acronym. Emulation often refers to translation of processor instructions sets. But in this other case of the term "emulation", it also doesn't specifically "mimic" Windows itself, because it implements the Windows API. So it's just classified as an compatibility layer.Joshua822 wrote:Wine ( which is a Windows-emulation layer for GNU\Linux distributions like Ubuntu ( and other operating systems ) ).
Have you heard of Wubi? It allows you to install Ubuntu inside of Windows, by having an image file with an Linux filesystem stored on an Windows filesystem, with an entry added to the Windows BCD, so it can be booted from NT Loader and Windows Boot Manager. In this way, it also allows Ubuntu to be easily removed by using the Windows uninstaller.Joshua822 wrote:So if you want to play Rayman 2 on a modern computer you can install Ubuntu next to Windows ( don't worry, Ubuntu doesn't need a lot of space on your hard drive, a 10 GB partition will do ) on your computer
Well, virtual machines still isn't the greatest for gaming yet, but with that low system requirements Rayman 2 has, it should run just fine. But it still depends on the actual hardware specs. VMware is able to run DWM, which powers Windows Aero. VirtualBox is able to run XGL/AIGLX, which powers Compiz. And all of these Compositing Window Managers is able to run smoothly.Joshua822 wrote:(You can also try installing Ubuntu for this goal inside Virtualbox or another PC-emulation software, but I don't have experience with that)
An alternative way of trying Ubuntu, is by using Portable Ubuntu, which is based on coLinux (Cooperative Linux) that is the Linux kernel loaded from an Windows driver, which makes it able to run side-by-side with the Windows kernels, with full hardware access, and with speeds that tightly matching the native system. Unfortunately coLinux is 32-bit only.
But the currently best way of trying Ubuntu, is by using a LiveUSB, and the best way of installing it for ordinary users, is by using Wubi.
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
What I would like to know was if someone here has got Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate and if that person tested already the Windows XP Mode with the game, and if it works.

I'll have to quote myself:Haruka wrote:What I would like to know was if someone here has got Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate and if that person tested already the Windows XP Mode with the game, and if it works.
PowerPatrick wrote:XP mode is basically just Microsoft Virtual PC with some seamless integration, but misses essential functionality and performance. Remember that it doesn't have any 3D acceleration and drag'n'drop for example. VMware and VirtualBox would be far far better solutions. They both have up to 128 MB in virtual VRAM, and VMware have Shader Model 3, while VirtualBox have cross-platform OpenGL 2.2 guest support
Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 7?
I guess those are bad news.
