Unlocking 2D Nightmare [L.M. Murphy did it! =D]

Post by Droolie »

WE NEED SAVE FILES FOR RAYMAN 3 FOR GAMECUBE AND GBA, PEOPLE!

Hey everyone!

Since there's no dedicated topic about 2D Nightmare, I thought I'd make one.
Using common sense and uber hacking skillz ( not really lol ) I think I found how to unlock 2D Nightmare.
I just looked at the text files of the game, and I'm almost certain the intro text for that minigame is "When Rayman was younger, he only had two dimensions."
But right before it, in the 2D Madness text files, there's a line "You discovered a secret passage!" So I think it's in 2D Madness. Could be in another minigame or in the full game too though... but I doubt it.
This might lead to 2D Nightmare. The problem is, I can't test it right now, because I have a new computer and I forgot how to fake the connection between GBA and gamecube on Dolphin. And I also have my history exam tomorrow, so I can't spend too much time on this. So, would anyone like to see if there's a secret passage in the GC version of 2D Madness? It might be in the PC version too.

And if this isn't the way, then this'll be the place for other theories for unlocking 2D Nightmare. :)

Droolie.

Wow, thank you so much for telling us what you've found. :D

The PC version cannot have the 2D Nightmare since all the slots are filled with the common mini-games.

I can give a shot tonight by playing 2D Madness on my GC version and trying to see if I find something. If I do, I'll record it. ;)

I know, but I thought maybe the PC version would only show the extra minigame slot after it was unlocked, because it contains the text for 2D nightmare and the secret passage line too (even though the minigame itself might not actually be in that version).

Anyway, good luck! I hope you find something! :D

Darn! :x

I totally forgot that I haven't got the 2D Madness in my GC version because I haven't R3 for GBA to unlock it!

By the way, how the hell could we emulate a GBA connected in the Dolphin Emulator? Apparently just selecting "GBA" does nothing.

Ow, that sucks.

I'll try to emulate it this evening then. It's done by making a network between Dolphin with GBA selected and VBA-M ( a version of VBA that allows networking between multiple instances of that emulator, and Dolphin happens to be able to read from that network! :D ). It's incredibly slow though and works at 1FPS or something ( not Dolphin, but the GBA emulator! o_O ).

It would be useful knowing how to emulate the connection.

There's a guide for that here: http://forums.dolphin-emulator.com/show ... p?tid=7476
EDIT -> Trying that connection out myself now, and wondering where the hell the gamecube link screen is in the GBA version.
EDIT 2 -> Found it, it's on the left of the world map, it says connected now, but 2D Madness isn't unlocking. I probably need a full R3 savefile for both Rayman 3 GC and Rayman 3 GBA (so I have a higher score). Can't use my own because my old computer is broken and the files are lost. Damn.
EDIT 3 -> Okay, well, I gotta stop trying now...

I absolutely NEED a completed or nearly completed Rayman 3 GC and GBA savefile, everyone! Preferably for emulators, like VBA and Dolphin. Does anyone have that?

I can only help for now in a complete save file of R3 GBA.

Here you go: http://hotfile.com/dl/88307345/a8b2436/ ... ).sav.html

EDIT: I've tried to go to the left side of the world map but nothing happens when I enter. It says to connect the GBA to the GC, nothing else is done. And in Dolphin I configured the Port 2 to GBA!

Thanks a lot for the GBA save file! :) I'll use it tomorrow after my exam. ;)

You have to use VBA-M and follow the guide I posted earlier step by step. And don't forget to enable the BIOS ( instructions also in the guide ), which you can find here: http://www.mediafire.com/?aylfnzmpyeb

Wait, I was able to make the emulator recognize the GBA but it says to insert a R3 gamepak and going to the Gamecube menu Menu page. Hmm...

EDIT 1: I'm on both menus of connection. Let's see if something happens.

Yeah that means you have to go to the left on the world map in R3 GBA. Or if that doesn't work, use the EU GBA version for the EU GC version and the US GBA version for the US GC version, because using EU with US might cause problems. :?

Perhaps it is that. I'm going to use the EU version as soon as possible of R3 GC.

EDIT 1: Afterall it was about the regions! 8D I switched for a NTSC ROM of R3 GBA and it worked! Now let's see...
