Re: Rayman Origins
It happened often when I was in my more "Rayman-crazed" phase, some knew the series well, others...not so well.
Re: Rayman Origins
Not at all, Reflux was a worthy villain. He had a story: in Rayman's travels, he took Reflux's place as champion in the arena and utterly humiliated him in front of the other Knaaren. That gave Reflux a reason to hate Rayman. And since you control Rayman, you're personally involved in that conflict. From what we've heard so far, [there seems to be no personal conflict between Rayman and Big Mamma. The Magician/Mr Dark Teensie seems to be a far better villain for the game as there is personal involvement (he betrayed you!), and he sets traps (that's in one of the previous videos). Big Mamma? She does nothing to stop Rayman except for that final battle - at least not from what we've seen so far. She seems to be in the game just because it's "funny" that the Bubble Dreamer is having nightmares of his mother-in-law. Ha, ha, ha.] That's why I'm disappointed - but of course, if the game proves me wrong I'd gladly take everything back.spiraldoor wrote:Were you also disappointed when Reflux turned out to be the final boss of Rayman 3?Drolpiraat wrote:This proves it. I already pointed that out a few pages ago.Cairnie wrote:BTW have any Americans checked this out? Amazon US apparently has the art book as a preorder bonus...

When I was little, I was the only one in my family who though Rayman's hair was hair, not ears.

We paid attention to the Helicopter HAIR and pulled through the confusion.

Re: Rayman Origins
I still want to know how Betilla had such a drastic change from her in RO, to her in R1.

(Gagaman made these)
Re: Rayman Origins
My theory is that she got older until there.

Well, yeah, but like her outfit, her hair, and her facial expressions.

She was redesigned, just like Rayman.

Re: Rayman Origins
Well, the question that spiraldoor made about "why are some characters redesigned and why some aren't" has an easy answer. During the creative process of anything that involves art, sometimes cartoons, but mostly on videogames, the creative people decide to make changes because they find the new version of the character better than the older version. That commonly happens in Mario's universe, Goombas usually keep almost the same:

But check the Monty Moles:

Even when they're completely different, they share the same concept, and that's the main idea. There's no "biological" explanation for those drastic changes, only decisions made by the artists of the game. So there's no need to explain how betilla lost her boobs and her booty, or how rayman's hair changed like 3 times, because they're basically the same concept.

Rayman wasn't so heavily designed though.Hunchman801 wrote:She was redesigned, just like Rayman.
Betilla also lost her wings somehow.sergiomonty wrote:Even when they're completely different, they share the same concept, and that's the main idea. Why are you trying to start up another argument on something we just concluded?Greenbottle3 wrote:Betilla also lost her wings somehow.sergiomonty wrote:Even when they're completely different, they share the same concept, and that's the main idea. Re: Rayman Origins
Hey guys. I know I havent been posting...at all really. I'm not even sure if you guys remember me, but the's not what I'm here for.
I noticed that, while reading through the thread(The entire thread. It's kind of a thing I do.), that at least a few of you read Tvtropes. Well, I've taken the liberty of taking any of the info found here and sharing it with the folks at Tvtropes, and making sure the Rayman Origin page there is well attended too.
Speaking of sharing info, can anyone link me to the prievew that had the picture of all the fairies on a snowy mountain in front of a gate from the E3 demo and the list of Xbox 360 achievements that first revealed the fairy's names?

The last one isn't Monty Mole it's rocky wrench. The rest are nearly identical (other than the galaxy one, and the one in the cannon(?) is less similar).sergiomonty wrote:![]()

Re: Rayman Origins
All right, so yeah, basically, that's the reason why every character, excluding some, where changed. Returning enemies like livingstones and hunters have now limbs because of two reasons:
*The lack of limbs was technically an excuse. If I remember well, during that time, limbs where hard to animate so they decided to put their hands and feet as floating elements.
*In rayman 2, rayman is practically identified as the only on his species (something that technically fucks chronologically with rayman 1, but who cares?).
There's the weird case of the Electoons, and the Stone Men. Electoons maybe kept the lack of limbs due their mysterious powers like rayman's... And the stone men, well, if you notice, stonemen hide while rayman is not around in rayman origins (check the daily bubble where they appear). They take the form of regular rocks sitting on the floor. Giving the stonemen limbs would make their camouflage too obvious.

Re: Rayman Origins
Funny thing: when I was a kid, I was well aware of the continuity error between R1 and R2, but I didn't take much notice to it. You could say I took it for granted, just like a dream with strange things taken for granted. That's the life of a kid...

Re: Rayman Origins
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I’ve looked through the last couple of pages and haven’t seen anything on this matter. Granted that because the designers decided to do a prequel, there were always going to be continuity errors, but the one currently bothering me the most is as follows:
Rayman 2’s ‘knowledge of the world’ explains that there are only 1000 yellow lums in existence, yet in the origins trailers we see Rayman and co collecting them like items associated with the points system of Rayman 3.
I would like to justify that there is a logical, canonical explanation……. ideas anybody?

Re: Rayman Origins
I'm with Haruka on this one, I think this is just younger Betilla. Here she obviously appears as someone in her early 20's, whereas Rayman 1 Betilla looks like someone in her middle 30s. I'm not saying that's how much time passed, but it's done for contrast. Following that, in Rayman: Revenge of the Dark I'm giving Betilla a middle 50's look, as it would take place after Rayman 1.Hunchman801 wrote:She was redesigned, just like Rayman.
I'm also a hundred percent with Drolly on this one.Drolpiraat wrote:Not at all, Reflux was a worthy villain.
