How come?

My psychiatrist (it's purely drug related, I'm not crazy or anything so don't ask :mefiant: ) told me about this experiment done on teenagers to see the effects of learning with the opposite sex. Apparently, boys' scores in tests are higher when they learn with girls because they suddenly have a motivation to impress, and girls' scores are lower because they get really messed up and distracted. Just something to think about.
Apropos experiments, after I told my brother about what you said, Rayfan (that people were very short in medieval times), he did some research on the subject and he told me that for the past 2,000 years, the average height of British men was 1.72 meters.

Sounds extremely unlikely, I'd like to know about your brother's sources.

Coeducation experiment could work one way or another. For example, in some areas boys only get distracted by girls. Teacher's gender, actual subject and a lot of other stuff matters.

Gee, I don’t know. Maybe his last day of school is the day after tomorrow or something like that?

For those who would be interested in 3 great indie games :

http://www.humblebundle.com/

I've already tried voxatron, and it's a really great shooter arena. :) Pretty, fun, varied, and with level editor/community level. =D

Binding of Isaac and Blocks That Matter are also excellent. The first is realized by Edmund McMillen, the guy behind Super Meat Boy. And the second is a sweet puzzle-game that mix Tetris and Minecraft.

The games are DRM-free, and cross-platform (Windows, Mac, Linux), as the previous bundles. There are still 12 days left, so I guess there will be some other games added. :)

Hmm. Hadn't thought of that. I thought it involved blowing up stuff and such. Seriously, though, I asked because it seems strange to me that someone would finish school in such a time of year.

To answer your question, Hunch-
For the last 2000 yr data on heights of adult males in Britain have been collected... The broad trend is that height has been constant at a mean of approx. 172 cm up to the cohort born around 1930. From this date onwards height has increased. It seems reasonable to infer that brain size and intelligence were approximately stable for about 2000 yr up to around 1930 and it is only in the last half century that the increases have occurred.

You know, I always buy these bundles (good job, BTW, for spreading the news), and before this one, I sent lots of emails to developers whose games I thought should be in the next bundle. Two of them were the developers of Isaac and BTM! The BTM guys even replied and said that that's what they're gonna do. No need to say thanks, the games are rewarding enough! :D

It's true. I've walked around the castles of Germany and there are suits of armour on display. Short, stubby suits of armour. The average man was around five feet (as it said on the display case description).

The reason the children almost always end up taller than their biological parents is because the extra chemicals added to the products we eat and drink screw with our system, and it's hereditary.

As much as it's more than obvious that the average human height has increased a lot more during the last century than it did before over the same periods of time, given the huge progress of medicine and the changes in nutrition, I remember reading that it has still significantly increased over the last two millennia. Unfortunately, all the websites supporting this thesis I've come across after a quick search are pretty much like the one you linked to: of dubious veracity. A serious research on the subject would be great to have, unfortunately we can only base our conclusions on samples that are far from representative.

While that is unfortunately true, the current evidence it is more than likely all the way vrai. One more successful rhyme.

What? No, really, I don't understand what you're trying to say.

Edit: look at this-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST7P5E6b6Wg
I really wouldn't have minded if she weren't about my age. I hate to see how girls feel the need nowadays to do as much as they can to make themselves prettier. Most girls are actually way more beautiful without makeup and such. My cousin, who's in the 2nd grade now, puts make up every day. Why? How does it help? I would seriously hang every single person who's behind the the reason she feels the need to put makeup, one by one. And if you girls do put makeup, at least don't make it look like you want to get banged all night by a stranger. That's just awful and depressing (to me).

My reply was done over YouTube.

My mother is a complete clean freak and she has this phrase: "look for things to clean up." My thoughts on that: Why should I actually look for things to clean up? If it's not visible and it's not rotting in a corner then why the hell should I clean it up? The only reason I see the need to put away "clutter" (in quotation marks because sparkling clean to me is horridly messy to my mother) is if I have guests coming over. It's not by any average standards dirty, it's actually very clean. I'm sixteen, not five, this is my room, my space, I know where every little thing is in my room and no one else needs to, that's what I like about it.

Seriously, my mother just came into my room five minutes ago and screamed at me because there was some hand sanitizer drops on the wall under the dispenser. She then blamed me because she wrecked up three of my tops in the washing machine by mismatching colours claiming it was "stress caused by things like this" that messed her up. COME ON, she has a freaking week-long vacation starting tomorrow morning where people serve her everything. Probably one of the only reasons I stayed with my mom when my parents divorced is because she can hold a good job that earns a fair amount of money. She works from home and relaxes for the second half of the day on the couch in front of the TV. :pfff: With her around all day weekends are even more tiring than school days.

I don't think most girls look better without make up, that's pretty much the opposite in my opinion. I find excessive make-up absolutely ridiculous though.

RayFan, your mom somehow reminds me of my girlfriend's mother, even though the latter tends to lose things rather than tidy them.

Make-up is one of the nastiest tricks women have up their sleeves. It exists to deceive us – simple as that.
