Rayman in other types of games?
It's something I've always imagined would be interesting. When we discuss future Rayman games we're always talking about 2D or 3D platformers, but could you see Rayman in other types of games? Like an RPG or something similar to Zelda?

Hm, as I've said in other threads, I've been wanting to see a Rayman title with the metroidvania formula, where you've got no level select, and you progress and explore as you gain new powers and abilities, it's something which I think Rayman could actually do with some of its already established mechanics.

Hmmm...Keane wrote:Like an RPG or something similar to Zelda?
If Rayman was similar to Zelda, each and every single game would have a complete redesign of Rayman or a new descendant of the other Raymen.
And he would only be able to say Yes, No and HYAAA.

Re: Rayman in other types of games?
No, that would be if Rayman literally were Zelda.
Re: Rayman in other types of games?
Rayman RPG could work if it's similar to Mario & Luigi series. I would like to see all crazy moves Rayman and Globox would do when fighting. Rayman in RPG would not be that bad and also story would play important part of the game. Rayman in Action RPG like Zelda on the other hand... I would not like that.Keane wrote:It's something I've always imagined would be interesting. I wouldn't mind a Rayman Action RPG if it still retained some of the platforming mechanics of Rayman 2 or 3. That could be interesting.
Also, Metroidvania game with Legends mechanics. :I

Re: Rayman in other types of games?
Oh, Meteoidvania would be excellent idea. Any thoughts on Point and Click Rayman?

I wouldn't want a straight up Point and Click Rayman game, but I could imagine a game like Luigi's Mansion working. Maybe a spin-off, starring Globox and Murfy?
Re: Rayman in other types of games?
Definitely interesting idea. I feel like Ubisoft needs to expand and experiment a bit with spin-offs.

That they do, it seems we three agree on Metroidvania.
As for the Luigi's Mansion aspect, it's plausible, Globox's pre-RO personality does have quite a bit in common with Luigi's.

Maybe if we pester them enough, we could at least get the Project M team to add him to Project M. :V
EDIT: Someone is actually working on a Rayman mod for Brawl, it seems. He's placed over Falco, and they have got some custom moves and animations in. This video was only made a few months ago, so it's possible he's still being worked on.

-A Attacks-
AAA Attack: Slap, Punch, Uppercut. (if I can get the last A combo not be rapid)
Side Attack: Roundhouse kick.
Forward Attack Air: Spin Kick Downwards.
Back Attack Air: Slap and Kick.
Up Attack: SpinKick Upwards.
Up Attack Air: SpinKick Upwards.
Down Attack: Sweep Kick.
Down Attack Air: kicks both legs downwards. Does not make him slam into the ground.
Netrual Attack Air: Spins around.
Side Smash: Throws his fist forward and then retrieves it. Speed: Medium
Down Smash: Throws both his fists to the sides while crouching and retrieves them. Speed: Slow
Up Smash: Throws his fist upwards like an uppercut with a long range. Speed: Fast
-B Attacks-
Netrual B: Charge Shot. Charges up your shot like in Rayman 2. The longer you charge the stronger it gets. You can move back and forward while charging but it gets slower the longer you charge.
Side B: Dash Shot (SIDES): A Light Blue Flare will appear infront of you as you take a fast dash forward to either hit an enemy or reach an platform. This attack can be used right after Dash Shot (UP) as well (READ "Up B") (From Rayman Origins)
Down B: Ground: Ground Pound: Jumps up a meter and slams down. (game meter) Air: Ground Pound. Charges downwards and deals damage to nearby Opponents.
Up B: Dash Shot (UP): A Light Blue Flare will appear infront of you as you take a fast dash upwards for an extra jump. (From Rayman Origins)
-Final Smash-
Vortex Rayman
He becomes Vortex Rayman and throws a fist forward that creates a tornado. Anyone who gets caught in the Tornado (it will go to the first edge before it stops) will get a ton of damage inflicted to them and they will also go small (like in Rayman 3). Rayman then turns back to normal.
-Others-
After Double Jump: You will be able to use your Haircopter to slowly hover down.

I still hate how strangely skewed that model's head looks from certain angles. I see it on every game that has a mod that includes that model.
Re: Rayman in other types of games?
Rayman would be perfectly suitable in a fight game like Super Smash Bros. If he ever appeared in a new title, it would be a guaranteed purchase.

Re: Rayman in other types of games?
Speaking of Rayman in Smash Bros, there's actually a fangame called Super Smash Bros Crusade, and it happens to include Rayman as a playable character. He mainly uses attacks based on Rayman 3, though, but it's still really cool.
