Hi, folks! I'm currently during a lowest Ting amount run for both Rayman 1 and Rayman 2 on the Game Boy Color, and I'm aware of the double jumping glitch in both games (for those who don't know about this glitch, watch this video to get the idea of the glitch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_x1hf8h8sQ), however, I'm confused with how it can be performed. Sometimes I can do it perfectly fine, yet other times, I struggle in doing so. I was wondering if someone here can explain the circumstances necessary for the glitch to be performed.
For those wondering on how the challenge is going also, so far I'm in the 2nd part of Rocky Peaks with a total of 6 Tings collected (2 from Spellbound Forest and 4 from Airy Tunes) and trying to use the double jump glitch to avoid another Ting, though with not much success.

I've messed around with the double jumping glitch in Rayman 1 and 2 on Game Boy Color. It can be a bit finicky, but from my experience, it's all about nailing the timing, adjusting your speed, and paying attention to the terrain you're on.

I think you're right about the timing thing. I went back and tried to see how it works, and it seemed like it mainly revolved around good timing. I was even able to perform it in numerous ways as well, including walking off of a platform, jumping off of a platform and from a standstill. For me at least though, the easiest way to do it was by walking off of a platform, and hardest was doing it off of a slippery platform.
Thanks a lot for the information!

I hope this is not too bad of a necro but ig it might help someone trying for a low ting run or some other challenge in the future.
I'm far from an expert at the GBC games but I believe that a helicopter is required for the glitch to work. If you cancel your hover early and then press jump right after, you might be able to get a glitched double jump. But it doesn't work everywhere.
It does work fantastically well if you ran off an edge just before. There's also a way that might make it a little easier for most people: You can buffer a jump by hovering just after you hit the peak of your jump, then cancel your helicopter by very quickly tapping jump again, right after having let go of jump you want to press select (to enter the menu that has resume at the top/asks you if you want to quit) and then you can hold jump at whatever time you like which should resume the game and buffer the glitched double jump if you did everything correctly and a double jump even works where you tried it.
For example, on Rocky Peaks 4, you can do a double jump which allows you to get around having to collect a few tings. There's a video of it with an input display here at 2:12.
