A topic to discuss sources for questionable information on RayWiki. Figured we could do with this because of firstly the Gonzo fiasco from 2023, then the Voodoo Mama last year, and now something came to my mind today, which gave me the idea.

—————

I was on the Wild, Wild East RayWiki page, and I read this about the Urban Jungle

RayWiki said:
The Urban Jungle theme greatly resembles the Candy Land theme form Rayman Fiesta Run.

It appears RayCarrot added the edit back in 2016 so I think he’d probably know the most about the similarities between the two worlds, but looking at gameplay of both and I really don’t see it.

So you're referencing this section, right? I haven't touched Fiesta Run in years, but on initial glance I agree. I'd be inclined to log these sort of things on the talk pages initially, as there's likely to be more direct discussion there than a generalised thread.

As a follow-up to the "Gonzo fiasco", people appear to be questioning the validity of the name "Anna Lyse" now (see talk page here). Any thoughts on this?

Well this is a bunch of BS:

When did it ever say he was called Anna Lyse? That's a girls name anyway. :|

After completing TDOTK, go into cinematics and it says something about anna lyse... i think... havent played in a while

The third doctor's name is not given anywhere in the game, no matter what language you play in.

Anyway, I have no idea where the name Anna Lyse came from, but I do remember it was used on pok2's fansite. In the Rayman 3 secrets guide, the secret room outside the doctor's office was listed as "Anna Lyse's secret" (where the others were called "Otto's secret" and "Roméo's secret"). I don't know whether pok2 chose that title or got it from Block, who IIRC originally posted the secret guide on RZ's forum.

What is the cutscene called, out of the curiosity? If they have names at all, that is.

Well, this adds up with what Xenon said about people using that name on RZ. Not that it sheds any light on the actual origin of it...

The cutscene is called "André tempts Reflux", which makes sense since that's the most important plot point in the scene. It's a pity that it crowded out the name of an important character though :(

Thanks for having it a look! I think it's safe to keep the name Anna Lyse out of the wiki article for now, at least until someone can come up with a primary source for it.

Man I did not expect to be quoted in a post from when I was nine.

But, yeah, I dunno where I ever thought that information came from. Probably just parroting whatever I had already heard online elsewhere without looking too deep into it?

Haha, I didn't expect that our investigation into old forum posts would summon you after many years of absence for a retrospective into your nine-year-old self. :P Well, a late merry Christmas to you, hope you're doing great since last time.

On the subject of that Teensie doctor's name, I also remarked that we probably shouldn't be using his French name "Garatta Ciatik" outside of a "Names in other languages" section, since that name only appears in French sources. In fact, investigating this led me to realize that the French Rayman 3 press kit, the only listed source for that name, has it spelt "Garata Ciatik" with one T. Maybe the spelling with two Ts came from RaymanZone? 🤔

OMG I can't believe no one noticed that the correct spelling was "Garata Ciatik" (according to the press kit), including myself, who perpetuated the error :confus:. There will be memes about this...

Does anybody know if we have an archive of the RaymanZone ranklist, to see if that's where the other spelling comes from?

I suppose the information might be in the thread: "IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR THE RANK LIST", however I don't know if any version of that page was archived.

I think niveaux.php was the page that contained the actual list, but it looks like it was never properly archived due to the site's use of redirects for language management. :mefiant:

Regardless, a quick search shows quite a few people using the spelling Garata in the early days of the forum. And the first time the name was added to the French Wikipedia, replacing the English name, that same spelling was used. :|
