My first wiki edit was fixing a typo in the page about Rayman Adventures events

When uploading a higher res file to the wiki, should I name it the same as the original?

If the intent is to upload a higher resolution version of an existing file, I'd suggest navigating to the file page and clicking "upload a new version of this file" in the File History section. That way it'll automatically replace the lower resolution version on articles, and also for bookkeeping's sake it'll be in the file history as a replacement.
