I can't seem to figure out to how to delete the thread. How would I go about doing this?Hunchman801 wrote:As much as we appreciate the effort to translate the content of this book for English speakers, it is unfortunately illegal to provide it publicly and it is our responsibility as staff members to have it removed.
Digital Mozart, can you please remove the translation from your posts? I prefer to let you do it so that you don't lose your work in case you don't have a copy.
Thank you for your quick cooperation.

I don't believe you can delete threads once people have replied. I think you should probably just edit the posts if you are going to remove the translation.Digital Mozart wrote:I can't seem to figure out to how to delete the thread. How would I go about doing this?

RibShark, I'm sure Mike would have loved that but he's just the author.

We don't need the thread deleted, just the translation edited out from your posts.Digital Mozart wrote:I can't seem to figure out to how to delete the thread. How would I go about doing this?

I am not sure about that since he said this:Hunchman801 wrote:RibShark, I'm sure Mike would have loved that but he's just the author.

I know. The post was more aimed at Pix 'n Love and UbiSoft than Mike himself. I apologise if it came across to be aimed directly at him, although he did seem to be a bit vocal about it too, as OCG points out.Hunchman801 wrote:RibShark, I'm sure Mike would have loved that but he's just the author.
Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
People should have just hired more translators and worked to have colelctor's edition in both English and French released at same time. Then none of this would have happened.
Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
I knew it was a bad idea.
Anyway, my french isn't that good but I bought the french book anyway. I did an effort and managed to understand it in general. Of course I would have prefered for a simultaneous English release but it is what we have got so far. When it gets out though, I'll consider its purchase.

Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
I don't see the problem? If they wanted a simultaneous release, that would only mean making the French wait for the English translation to be done for no particular reason at all. I don't care if some English speaker is emotionally affected by something that is of absolutely no consequence to them.RibShark wrote:If you wanted English speakers to buy the book rather than reading the translation, you should have gone for a simultaneous release date. How is it fair that people who can't speak French have to wait for long periods in order to actually read something they want to. When you get round to publishing it in English, I'm sure that the fan translation would have been removed to make way for the official translation. As it is, you are heavily disappointing fans of Rayman by forcing this to be removed. [/rant]
Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
Like I said, they should have hired more translators. Translating this book with 5 translators could be done in 3 months, while they were lazy and only hired 1 translator. Also unfair how collector edition won't be reprinted on English. So yes, people that are emotionally affected have reason to be.

OCG > as if it was that simple. Like "It's just a matter of having some translators around and poof, the english version is done."
You seriously think that? Well it's not. I thought you'd knew that. Anyway, please don't call Pix'n Love "lazy".

I didn't say it was fair and you're absolutely right to be unhappy about the wait for the english version.
Once again it's not me who is against you guys or against Rayman fans in general. I'm just sad some people here don't seem to understand where the problem is. Like I already said I'm not the one making the laws. The good news is the interest of the english community may accelerate the process. I really hope so and be sure that I'm doing what I can to make the english version be real.

Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
I do apologise if I didn't understood how translation process goes. Could you then explain better what more has to be done besides translating and proofreafing?
Reason why I called Pix lazy is because based on factual evidence how long translation takes for let's say video game which is harder than book because of changing code and stuff, this indeed is too slow, and second reason because they were too lazy to help me or provide me answer why their site wasnt letting me choose my country for shipping even though they told you when you asked them that it should be fine worldwide. They ignored and disrespectd me as a customer, never replied to me on mail and I only got book before being sold out thanks to friend from France.
I am sure if you had such experiences with some company that you would think same. I did not mean to offend or complain about small things but this is important.

@OCG
The Pix'n Love team isn't lazy but surely must work on a better communication towards the customers. It's a thing that I've been repeating over the past few years. So, sorry if you felt offended as a customer.
There are many reasosn the english version is not out yet. Like I already said, I can't fully go into details but the company has other plans right now. It costs a LOT of money to have the right to write about the Rayman franchise in english, to translate it properly, have a good corrector, print it... My point is it's not just about translation to have this book released. That's what I wanted to remind you.
Maybe Pix'n Love should have release the english version from the beginning ; instead of the french one I mean. I have the feeling that the english Rayman community really wants to read the book and that, unfortunately (I might be wrong), the french edition isn't selling so well so far.
Well, it's the 20th anniversary this year. Fingers crossed to have the english book later this year, and a new Rayman game as well

Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
The sells of the French book weren't that good? I'm a bit surprised to be honest knowing that France is where the character born.
Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
I don't know the exact number of books sold. I'll know it a year after the national release (which was October 31st).
But what's both funny and sad is that some French gamers were convinced that Rayman was created by Americans.

I remember our own raymax thought Rayman was created by English people. I wonder where that impression came from.

Well sadly, before Rabbids, Rayman was not much known in France to my knowledge (I am maybe wrong) and always sold better in other countries.

A long, long time ago I thought Ubisoft was German.

I once contacted them about a different matter and I never got a reply either, which is indeed disappointing and disrespectful. Hope they'll work on that in future, though it's been a while already.OldClassicGamer wrote:[...] they were too lazy to help me or provide me answer why their site wasnt letting me choose my country for shipping even though they told you when you asked them that it should be fine worldwide. So, why is that illegal? I do not object to the deletion of translations, but I would like to know why.
