Collaboration would be great! There's some pretty weird sentences in this book that don't translate wonderfully into English, so help is always welcome!PluMGMK wrote:Hmm, can I help with this?

It comes with experience. Sometimes, it's good to have some bilingual guy by your sideDigital Mozart wrote:There's some pretty weird sentences in this book that don't translate wonderfully into English, so help is always welcome!

I would love a proofreader, so if you want, I could PM you what I translate and you could go through to make sure that everything makes sense and gets the point across a accurately as possible. Would you be up for that?PluMGMK wrote:How would we go about it?Digital Mozart wrote:Collaboration would be great! Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
I could try to proofread it but there are two issues:
1. I have university obligations which would make this proofreading slow as hell
2. While I am bilingual and I started learning English since I was born as a second language besides other one, none of my parents are English native so I never mastered grammar (my father doesn't know English at all and my mother only started learning it as second language when she was at university) and would most likely not find mistakes in text even if they existed.
I think it would be better if English native proofread the text.

While I am not going to judge legallity of this in France since French law is unknown to me, I am pretty sure by US law this falls under transformative fair use if we do analysis of 4 factors of fair use (I can analyze them here in post if anyone wants me to). Digital Mozart is US citizen so I think US law applies to him.
Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
Like I was saying in MP to Digital Mozart, it has nothing to do with the country of residence. Pix 'n Love has paid a certain amount of money to Ubisoft and sign a publishing contract in order to have the right to talk about the Rayman licence.
Private or online distribution is illegal and you sure don't have any permission to do so. Same situation for the people who own the book. They can't reproduce its content, translate it and distribute it or post it online. Moreover, it's disrespectful to me, the editor, the people who worked for this book to be released, the whole Ubisoft artists, etc.
I'm glad some english folk bought the book but we just have to wait for it to be OFFICIALLY released in english.

Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
As much as we appreciate the effort to translate the content of this book for English speakers, it is unfortunately illegal to provide it publicly and it is our responsibility as staff members to have it removed.
Digital Mozart, can you please remove the translation from your posts? I prefer to let you do it so that you don't lose your work in case you don't have a copy.
Thank you for your quick cooperation.

Re: Pix'N Love's History of Rayman Unofficial Translation!
If you wanted English speakers to buy the book rather than reading the translation, you should have gone for a simultaneous release date. How is it fair that people who can't speak French have to wait for long periods in order to actually read something they want to. When you get round to publishing it in English, I'm sure that the fan translation would have been removed to make way for the official translation. As it is, you are heavily disappointing fans of Rayman by forcing this to be removed. I have to say I share the same opinion like RibShark. I won't interfear with this nor will I distribute copies of this translation that was made so far but I am disappointed at this forceful removal.
