Oh dear! Rayman has gone off on his own to climb the mountain even though the weather is awful! We have to help him reach the shelter before the storm breaks. If not, goodness knows what will happen to him! Quick, we must do something!

The Storm is an activity from Rayman Activity Centre, which is accessible via the world map. Rayman has gone off to play on the Blue Mountains all by himself despite the bad weather. Betilla the fairy realises a large storm is about to break, and pleads the player to help him reach shelter. The activity is designed to teach basic counting skills, and resembles certain levels of Maths and English with Rayman in style.

Gameplay

Rayman jamming with The Musician and his wife

The player has to give Rayman directions on how to get to the top of the mountain by selecting the platform that has the number that matches up to Betilla's instructions. As the game progresses, Rayman jumps up the platforms you select and slowly makes his way up the mountain. Sometimes he will stop and dance intermittently throughout the level.

Level 1 Betilla tells the player to click on either the smallest or largest number according to her instructions. When Rayman reaches the top, he starts to hop about happily while avoiding large rain drops of the beginning of the storm. A drop lands on his head, which he dries off by winding up his helicopter hair and flying to the very top of the mountain. Pleased with himself that he avoided the storm, he pulls a face at the bad weather and turns to leave, only to drown in a puddle.

Level 2

Betilla tells the player to choose the number that comes either before or after the one she gives you, depending on her instructions. When Rayman gets to the top, he starts to dance again, before Mr. Black the Bomber Clown flies by and drops some black ink. Rayman stops dancing and grimaces at where the clown was, before making an attempt to continue his dance. He jumps, however, straight onto the puddle of ink and falls over, before looking at the player with a sad face.

Level 3

On the final difficulty setting, Betilla tells the player the choose the number that comes between the one she gives you. When Rayman gets to the top, he starts to jam with The Musician and his wife by playing the harmonica as they play acoustic guitar by a campfire. At the end of their song, and audience cheer them on, and Rayman bows before them.

Trivia

  • One of the animations Rayman makes as he climbs the mountain is an early animation from the original game that was scrapped from the final.
  • This activity appears to be inspired by multiple levels of Rayman 1 in which Rayman would have to avoid rising water - in particular, the third part of Mr Stone's Peaks, which was also set in the Blue Mountains.
