Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Again, it's not the engine that I suspect is the point of contention. As you noted, Just Dance switched engines a few years ago. There's nothing to say we can't get a "UbiArt" game, that isn't actually running in UbiArt (let's say instead, it ran on Unity, that seems to be a popular engine for 2D style games like Hollow Knight).
It'd still be seen as a Rayman UbiArt game in the sense it follows the conventions, art and gameplay style of the UbiArt games, just not as the engine. It's ultimately semantics and being technically incorrect, but that's fandoms and wording for ya. And I suspect that's what people will ultimately have an issue with, having another game that follows those conventions.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Yeah, Master said it all. Nobody ever had an issue with the engine itself (aside from maybe one giga nerd somewhere
), it's just a simplication for the sake of convenience, even if it's inaccurate in a technical sense (like how a lot people say "bad/good animation" for what's often other things like "bad/good drawings" in anime fandoms).
Heck, even I uses this term when I'm fully aware that this engine doesn't apply strictly to the Rayman series, like with Child of Light.
I mean, which would you rather say whenever we talk about these games: "Rayman UbiArt"... or "Rayman Origins/Slap Flap, and Go!/Jungle Run/Legends/Fiesta Run/Beatbox/Adventures/Mini/Incrediballs Dodge"?
Someday we'll have to change it maybe, if the engine is used for a Rayman game that looks/feels like none of the "Rayman Origins Recycled Ad Nauseam Games" (
)... But as of now, "UbiArt" is less of a mouthful.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
I suppose being a Sonic fan kinda helps in this case, as I'm used to terms like the "Dreamcast Era," an era that includes Sonic Heroes...which never released on the Dreamcast!
Yet at the same time, there's an implied meaning behind it, and this instance I get what it's trying to say, namely that Sonic Heroes, while not of the Dreamcast, still followed a lot of the conventions (granted its core gameplay element is different) and style of the Dreamcast Sonic games. As such, it's lumped in with them even though it doesn't follow the strictest meaning of the term. Likewise, if a game were made in a different engine, but it still played and looked like Origins and Legends, chances are it'd still be considered a UbiArt game. Just because that's kindof what meaning the term has been given over time by the fanbase, even though again, it's not an accurate term going off the strict meaning.
At any rate, personally, like I said before, I'm over it at this point. I have my wishes and wants for the series, but I also just want it to do well. If it means another UbiArt game, I'll gnash my teeth because I'd like to see the series evolve once more, but would I be disinclined to play it? Of course not, the UbiArt games might not be to my taste when it comes to tone and style, but they're still very good games, even if they don't follow the style I like. (Hey, Metroid Prime 4.)

Ah yes, let’s have Rayman start cursing too and giving him the option to kill rabbids or teensies or something while we’re at it. Clearly they didn’t make him “edgy” enough in Rayman 3Master wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 9:56 pm And instead of a plunger gun, give him a proper gun. Just like the critically acclaimed game: Shadow the Hedgehog (2005).

It would be amazing, but then you'd be implying the real world exists in the Rayman Universe, and I guarantee that'll tassle a few tangerines xD

A bit like what Legends did by incorporating humans and human myths and legends into Rayman's world?

Pretty much, though at least there it's more a case of convergence than it being human caused.

There's also RRR2, that had real places in it. Well, parodies of them, but still.Hunchman801 wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 8:09 am A bit like what Legends did by incorporating humans and human myths and legends into Rayman's world?![]()

How dare the both of you forget Rayman 3's advertisement which introduced into the Rayman world the human myth that you're not a man if you do not have a huge penis?

Simple. I forgot. His features may be huge but the experience wasn't committed to memory.
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Yeah that's a bit of the early 2000s/late 90s that's really hard to justify or explain 20 years later, especially since it probably already was cringe back then as well.
I remember seeing it as a kid and just not thinking anything of it because I didn't even understand what it meant.

According to this tweet by asdf/intercelluar, the name of Project Steambot is "Rayman Legends Retold", and this is the logo:
If I understand correctly, the same person has leaked content for the Assassin's Creed remake, Fortnite, and Overwatch in the past.

So wait, are we talking about a 3D version of Rayman Legends? Not necessarily a bad idea, but it feels like a weird direction to take. Makes me wonder if it'll have the same art direction as the CGI animated trailers.

I'm usually someone who doesn't mind remakes. I even played through the PS5 versions of The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn. But Rayman Legends already looks absolutely flawless. There is zero reason to remake it.

I can't believe they chose Legends over Rayman 2 or 3. We seriously need another 3D entry in the series.
