Ubi Key
The Ubi Key is a unique collectible that appears in the Game Boy Color version of Rayman and which can be found in the first part of the Spellbound Forest. It is tied to the eponymous feature available in various Ubisoft games on Game Boy Color. Players could transfer Ubi Keys between their Game Boy Colors using the handheld console's infrared sensor (which is a small black tab found on its top).
Once the key is acquired, it can be sent to any compatible game and will unlock a bonus feature for it. In the Game Boy Color version of Rayman, receiving the Ubi Key from another game or a second copy of Rayman will grant access to Ubi Cliff, a bonus level which appears similar to the Time Attack map.
In the Game Boy Color version of Tonic Trouble, it unlocks a bonus stage featuring Super Ed and deadly enemies falling from the sky, rewarding the player with three extra lives if they win. In that game, the key is found in the first section of Vegetable HQ.
The Ubi Key can be received or sent from any level in the game through the pause menu, thus allowing Rayman to enter Ubi Cliff at any given time.
Game Boy Color games compatible with Ubi Key include Rayman itself, Carl Lewis Athletics 2000, Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado, Hype: The Time Quest, Inspector Gadget: Operation Madkactus, Papyrus, Spirou: The Robot Invasion, Tonic Trouble, and Toonsylvania.
