Fieldbreakers are enemies that appear in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, specifically in its The Last Spark Hunter and Rayman in the Phantom Show DLCs.

Appearance

Fieldbreakers are large, chunky Rabbids with a large cannon on their right arm who are almost entirely covered in Darkmess. They bear a resemblance to the Bucklers from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

Abilities

Fieldbreakers attack with their arm cannon, firing a single projectile with a curved trajectory called the Darkmess Disruptor. This attack is powerful enough to destroy destructible cover and bypasses partial cover.

Their main ability is a technique called Darkmess Rain, which summons a shower of Darkmess that creates several Darkmess Ponds on the battlefield. These temporary ponds, which last for one turn, damage any hero that is hit by them as they form or who steps into them. Enemies are immune to the ponds' effects.

Fieldbreakers are highly resilient, boasting a resistance to all Super Effects, and tend to prioritize attacking heroes directly over seeking cover.

Tacticam analysis

Controls areas of the battlefield by creating Darkmess Ponds on the ground which damage opponents who step on them.
—Tacticam analysis, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
  • Weak: No weaknesses
  • Resistant: All Super Effects (Burn, Frostbite, Ooze, Shock, Splash, Gust)
  • Attack: Darkmess Disruptor. Medium-range attack. Fires one projectile with a curved trajectory at a single target. Ignores partial cover.
  • Technique: Darkmess Rain. Summons rain that creates Darkmess Ponds on the battlefield, damaging targets on contact or at the start of their turn.

Memories

We have encountered a multitude of formidable foes to whom Cursa has given all manner of twisted abilities - though that is not what concerns me most about these foes in particular. To be sure, the Technique that creates small Darkmess Ponds is direful, and they have no specific weaknesses, but I detect something else - someone has altered its Darkmess-infused DNA post-creation, long AFTER Cursa. Who? And why?
