Dark creatures[1] are enemies which appear in Rayman Legends and Rayman: The Board Game.

Description

Dark creatures resemble Fuzzies from Nintendo's Mario franchise, sporting furry balls for bodies with two tiny arms and widely sharp-toothed mouths, and also look similar to Mini Janos. They can have three different eye colors: blue within contact from fireworks mushroom explosions, green while there are no players nearby, and red upon spotting a player.

Appearances

Rayman Legends

Dark creatures first appear in Rayman Legends, where they are common enemies in Olympus Maximus. They are vicious hordes of monsters that instantly kill anything they touch. They can be repelled by the fireworks mushrooms found in this world. When first found, they appear to be imprisoned. It is currently unknown why, though it may be related to the fact that the dark creatures come to form Hades' Hand, the final boss of Rayman Legends. Aside from the fireworks mushrooms of Olympus Maximus, their only weakness is the Flying Punch.

Dark creatures notably make an appearance in 3D in the E3 2013 trailer for the game, in which they chase Barbara, who narrowly escapes them with the help of a champibumper.

As seen in a leaked trailer for the game, dark creatures and fireworks mushrooms were originally meant to be appear in a dark, swamp-like environment, and were moved to Olympus Maximus at a later stage of the game's development.[2]

Rayman: The Board Game

Dark creatures are set to appear in Rayman: The Board Game, where they will serve as obstacles on the Hell board.
